Lol there is no reason to be talking Byron other than the timing of ND opening and his unemployment.

He's a career NFL guy and unlikely to be anything other than that. I'd imagine he could have been a cfb HC this year if he really wanted.

Every name in here is a pipe dream. You will take your Parker and like it.

For real though, who cares if we get someone good for only one year. Just once, I’d like to see the present, instead of talking about the future.

We are renting a QB for one season, let’s rent an OC for one season also.

But muh recruiting, yeah, that’s more future talk.

(I realize I’m yelling at a cloud on a tangent that has nothing to do with your original post)

Interesting point, so basically shoot your shot this year and hope it all works itself out. I actually think I could get on board with this idea, especially considering how rare continuity is becoming anyhow.

- The only way it is, or should even consider it being Parker is if you’re hiring Brandon Streeter as QB Coach.

That isn’t an endorsement of that plan but I can see it kicked around.

- I don’t think the hire needs to be an amazing recruiter necessarily if he checks every other box. Re-recruit Carr and will have to land a 2025 QB and then likely gone type hire. If he delivers a good offense, all the credit goes to Freeman as someone who can hire a good OC and sign QBs.

It's better than debating Byron Left which of Scott Frost from 8 years ago.

Ludwig/Moorhead are my top 2 choices. Utah averaged 38.64 points per game last season and beating USC twice is good enough for me. Can he recruit?

Moorhead I don't know much about besides what posters have put on here and he is on the lists of potential candidates. Can he also recruit?

Whoever takes over will be inheriting a good offense with potential to put up points.

Please not Parker.

Ludwig is interesting. He has a broad resume, but nothing seems to stand out, except maybe the last year or two at Utah. I wonder if he even called the plays when he was at Oregon? Did Belotti? Not sure how much oh a handicap should be placed on PPG at Utah in the defenseless pac-12 either. He could turn out to be some sort of a version of Todd Monken at Georgia though- well-traveled and respected coach who finally found his niche. While Ludwig could be a home run, nothing on his resumes screams that it will be a home run though. Not sure if the '23 ND offense, nor MF in general, can cross their fingers and hope he's the real deal.

Greg Roman was mentioned. If he's interested, I'd think MF would have to seriously consider it. He easily has the best resume of anybody else being mentioned. The "Greg Roman sucks" crowd also has to consider though that he was the talk of the league several years ago when Jackson won the MVP. He was widely praised as the first NFL coach to ever finally adapt an offense to the running abilities of his QB, and suit the entire offense to that player. Prior, coaches really only gave some looks and concepts to the RGIII/Tebow types. Personally, I think much of the failure of Baltimore's O the last couple of years rests on Jackson's inabilities in throwing the ball, rather than on Greg Roman. Other than his brief stint with Stanford, his entire career has been in the NFL, so I think he'll stay there. Or maybe try a stint as a Saban analyst for a year or two.

Why is Jason Candle's name being mentioned?

I’m assuming there is a lot of interest to coach this offense. A great QB with an amazing line and RBs behind them.
I think we will be in good hands but have to agree on not Gattis.
Ludwig and Moorhead sound fine.

Ludwig would fit ND strengths so well. He wants balance and is creative. He has significant experience and will not bolt. He and Harry would be a strong pairing IMO.
