I know the point you are trying to prove. But look how the OC just went down. Everything you mentioned applies to the OC position as well. *Not trying to Beat this dead horse again*
For sure. Which is what made the OC search so frustrating. But given the blowback and the import Freeman places on OL play I really doubt they’ll repeat themselves here.
As for the potentially available options, there are two important differences.
Teams tend to lock down the best OCs early, and we were relatively late in the hiring cycle when Rees left. Longo, for instance, was already taken.
And unlike OCs, OLs don’t work under multi-year contracts with seven-figure buyouts.

So what’s the consensus on the big want at OL coach? Wikipedia reports Rudolph at $725k/annualy at VT. If that’s accurate is that a number ND would even consider after the latest charades? Seems like he’d be a good one either way.

If they can’t land a proven OL coach then I don’t want to hear how ND’s OL pedigree is the envy of all college teams.

just for PR purposes, they can’t afford to hire Watt. Hate it for the kid & it’s not directed at him but ND administration put them in this box and grew the perception that ND is too cheap to compete for NCs.

I don’t know much about the Minn OL Coach but what would keep him there vs coming to ND?
I know Rudolph was successful at Wiscy but ND seems like it’d be even more attractive. Does being at VT for only one season make him implausible? Shouldn’t a school like ND be able to change his mind if it’s truly about money & prestige?

Durning the press conference today Parker said that ND should have a ton of interest in finding a coach for this position.

I know we have argued this but they keep saying this. I am excited with the WB coach but I don’t know he was highly sought after. It’s wasn’t true about the OC or we wouldn’t have ended up with Parker. (They can say what they want he was brought in here for the potential of this happening.)

Why should we believe we are gonna gets top OL coach?

You don’t see Slovenia come up everyday in a thread. I’m half Slovenian. Big Catholic country.

Brian Callahan, Rudolph, or Studwara would be home runs imo. Bonus OC experience/success for the latter two.

Studwara is an interesting name.

Anyone know why he was fired from OSU? Their lines seemed to have been pretty good while he was there. Doesnt seem like he was picked up anywhere else either.

Freeman would probably know the inside scoop in any case.

Until Notre Dame hires a proven, outside candidate that other championship level schools would give the time of day, it’s fair to assume they won’t.

From what I remember they were very bad despite the talent at Ohio St towards the end of his tenure in columbus. I'd pass on him tbh. He's currently unemployed for a reason.

From inside the Ohio State cult...He wasn't/isn't the healthiest individual which led to some misses on the recruiting trail and that appeared to be the nail in the coffin. He is tight with Urban and is/was a good coach. I don't think he has ever been 'fired' Just not retained after his contract expires.

That Arkansas o line coach is beyond fat. Not sure he’ll make it to his 40th birthday at his rate.

I can’t imagine Luke even interviewing. He truly seems like an SEC or ACC (assuming it’s one of the programs in the south) guy. I really liked him though & thought he did an admirable job at Ole Miss under tough circumstances & is a proven OL Coach.
