Does he ever leave Chicago? He claims to have sources but he’s got to have an inferiority complex when trying to bring credibility to The Independent when his co-host has access to a few practices & the pressersI had already slowly been losing respect for the ND beat. The Sampson/Fortuna pod today might have done. The arrogance of Fortuna to basically claim that everyone at practice thought Minchey was better yet Marcus chose CJ for alternative reasons is mind boggling. Marcus is like any other coach in America. Couldn’t care less about recruiting rankings. Just who gives them the best shot to win.
He said he showered...Driskell said he got the news this morning right as he was getting in the shower
Likely story...
I enjoy Pete's podcasts when he's on with O'Malley. Pete is more of a pessimist, and O'Malley is more of an optimist, but they both get along well, are similarly witty, and make good sparring partners for each other. Combining them on the II pod with Prister and Brice always makes for a great listen.![]()
In picking CJ Carr, Marcus Freeman ended Notre Dame’s unexpected QB competition his way
The fact Carr winning the job registered as a surprise says something about both players who battled this month to be Notre Dame's next QB1.www.nytimes.com
I do enjoy Pete's articles; I'm not a big pod guy and can't stand Fortuna so nothing to speak of there.
But this article also feels like "man, Freeman is really rolling the dice in picking Carr." like it wasn't a close competition.
I don't understand how they feel they can write that it became "Minchey's job to lose" (paraphrasing) with how little they saw in camp, unless they ran with the poor source of information and are still treating it like gospel. Saving face. I dunno, but it's pretty annoying.
He goes on to say that Freeman "deserves the benefit of the doubt" but there's definitely a ringing sense of "how the hell did this happen/we had it right" all over the beat.
who is saying that? The consensus from most of the shitty beat guys now is that they feel like they got duped and their credibility is lost. they are probably waiting now for ND to lose so they can have their pissy revenge stories ready to go
speaking of talking heads can we get rid of Garrett for the love of Christ
Fortuna definitely. Listen to him on their latest podwho is saying that?
Fortuna definitely. Listen to him on their latest pod
Yeah, I listened - and I didn't get that vibe at all. Fortuna was pretty genuine about the situation (albeit still complete uniformed like normal).Did not get that vibe at all. The complete opposite
100%II stated that they were getting info from multiple sources, although all 2nd and 3rd hand. All told, the beat as a whole had credible sources with a combined (approximately) 50 sources. The speculation and general rationalization from II and BG has been absurd.
Prister stating he left and others Freeman's presser with certainty (not exactly what he said) that Minchey was the starter. I mean, where did that even come froom? There was zero indicator other than the group think from their peers.
Brice stating players on the D were shocked and had told family that Minchey was the starter.
Incredible their complete lack of self awareness. Figure out how you got it wrong and seek a path forward to be better. Nope, coaches are banking on Carr's flashes is actually what they are saying. Wow.
Waiting for Freeman to stop his next presser and gnaw on these reporters.
It will be interesting to see what happens.
Have not heard any absurd comments from IB. People hate (like, a lot of hate) but he owned it and moved on.
This is where you see true journalists like Eric Hansen shine. I didn't have a rivals sub or an On3 one now, but he was one who stuck to his pick that Carr was going to be QB1, even after the Nakos report. And I'd be very surprised to see him report something not well sourced or create a false narrative. Some of these reporters are insanely unprofessional. I liked Horka, but just listened to his drivel. He was saying that Minchey outplayed Carr so he was trying to imply there would be division in the locker room. We don't need that kind of garbage. There is no tangible evidence whatsoever that one QB outplayed the other. We don't know! Neither does he! To report like you know something and try to create discord among the team should have some of these people banned (If that is a thing, lol). We should be talking about how pumped we are for CJ and the Irish moving forward. Obviously you had one bad source. Deal with it. Don't try to create problems where there are none. It's cool to have a guess, but when your guess is wrong, don't pretend like you are right and the coaches are wrong. The arrogance that must entail is crazy!
They’re all pissed because they spent the last week writing their “Kenny Minchey wins the job” articles that they just wasted their time. The group think is real, like nobody outside of that tight circle was really surprised by this,
Do the actual beat writers ever comment directly or dismiss reports here?Plus they all ended up looking like clueless idiots and their credibility took a hit. Them being scooped by folks on IE is a bad bad look for them all

I think it was in 2023? I saw Driskell commenting about IE and he encouraged his cult members to bring the names of people who shared his precious intel on here.Do the actual beat writers ever comment directly or dismiss reports here?
He’s banned paid customers from the site over that. Deeply weird behavior.I think it was in 2023? I saw Driskell commenting about IE and he encouraged his cult members to bring the names of people who shared his precious intel on here.
I don't listen to any of these morons and simply rely on visions and dreams to deliver me the news.
