Could someone give me their opinion about The Atlantic?

I think I should probably end my sub to 247. Not because I don't like the Tims or Loy. But it seems I get their info from free sources very quickly after they drop it.

I like the musings and the wrapups, but I could live without them because it's already stuff I've heard from their free pods.

The Atlantic seems to have a lot of good long form writing I never get to read. I really dig Sampson and his whole thing.

Is it worth it?

I’m a fan. Agree they have scaled back CFB team beat coverage (though not of Notre Dame) but overall their national coverage remains probably the best of any digital outlet around.

You may not get the depth/volume of Notre Dame-specific content of the ND pay sites but what Pete does, he does well. Had a really smart thing with Jack Kiser the other day where Kiser diagnosed five plays he had been a part of, for instance (Pete does a few of those each year. It’s fascinating insight into the mental game.)

And frankly they cover most sports pretty well. If for some reason you’re in to other sports.

I don’t think you’ll find the cartoons very funny in The Atlantic.

This fall “The Shamrock” feed will pick back up, but it won’t be a podcast, it will be a live room where I take questions directly from The Athletic subscribers.

...As pretty much everyone here knows, Matt Fortuna left The Athletic this summer, which killed off “The Shamrock” as a podcast, at least in name. However, I’m thrilled to announce that starting next week, Fortuna and I will be podcasting again with our new show. Just like “The Shamrock,” we’ll podcast twice weekly during the season, midweek and after the game.

Generally speaking it’s much warmer than the Pacific but the waves are nowhere near as good for surfing.

I am probably not going to renew my The Athletic subscription. Occasionally, there's a great article that makes me think it's worth it. But, more often than not, I am not getting anything from the articles or podcasts that I can't get from other sources.

My favorite Driskell moment — and Mascona can largely be insufferable, but his content, for the most part, is usually pretty good. I’m not implying everything he says here is spot on, just that I love someone — anyone — calling Driskell out to the carpet. I really wanted the two to jump on a show together to discuss Kelly leaving ND.

Mascona is an excellent analyst and everything he says in the video is spot-on. There is a reason MF is recruiting based on the mantra “Choose Hard”.

Yea he kicked BD around based on BD saying he would recruit well at LSU but him not winning a Natty at ND had nothing to do with talent as he did have the talent to win one at ND…. WUT?? Lol

I really think it's because Pete doesn't care to host podcasts (maybe even to do them, though he doesn't seem as disinterested on II than when he's had to do solo pods) and would rather only do a podcast if his buddy Fortuna joins him.

LOL - Matt’s pretty bad but not that bad.

And he probably shouldn’t be in the #1 seat. I just think Fortuna doesn’t allow Pete to shine. Beyond the lack of ND knowledge from MF the way he steps all over Pete during the podcast is truly annoying. It would be annoying no matter who he is stepping all over but Pete has some great insight and Matt doesn’t let Pete run with it.

This is a great point. I didn’t realize they are friends and this makes the most sense.

I think they’re totally different. Fortuna is *actively* bad and makes things worse by being there, while Vince contributes literally nothing.
