Yea I don't agree. The mindset that this staff will win out all their favored games could well be a false trap. NC State, @Duke, @Louisville, Pitt are not for certain victories. There could be a loss in there as well.

Until the staff and team can consistently blow-out lesser teams, I think looking at this season as a 3 game season is risky in terms of an analysis. That is why I think 9-3 is most likely outcome. If we do better, great. Probably get a decent bowl then.
I’m much more interested in if this staff/program can consistently beat elite programs. That is a step Kelly could never get to and why we had no chance winning a title with him. Until we get back to doing that, which hasn’t been done since Holtz, we will not be looked at as an elite program.

Well that's the thing, right? Under BK, this coming season is almost certainly 10-2 or 9-3 (basically depending on the quality of USC and Clemson). Now? Could be 11-1, could be 8-4. Or worse. We'll see!

I’m not worried really about Clemson they were soft this year and lose a lot
I agree they were soft, but they don't lose a lot. Some of the d-lineman that were expected to go pro didn't except Bresee.

If we can’t do better than 9-3 with Hartman then we are in trouble. Because I am pretty sure that TB could probably go 9-3.

Clemson was that big of a deal until the hired Riley as a OC. OSU I s losing o line and QB, and we should be more prepared for USC.
I think it more of the way the schedule is laid out. They play an FCS squad in week two & will be absolutely excoriated if they don’t win comfortably. Keep in mind they’ll be coming off a cross-Atlantic trip the week prior. The 3 games after that will be expected wins as well. Hopefully Freeman learned from his first year to take each opponent deadly serious one week at a time. He won’t get the “first year HC” pass in 2023.

I know ND can’t dictate where they put their Bye weeks but both are horribly placed. Especially considering the ACC opponents will likely schedule a bye prior to facing ND. The Duke game screams “trap”.

I’m curious how the OL looks early in the season. Considering how long it took them to gel last year & the interior losing both guards, it’s a question mark for sure.

Mike Frank sounding like he's gonna hack up a lung on today's pod, so that's a treat.

Has the entire beat gone completely silent on whether or not Justin Scott is visiting this weekend? Are they all waiting for Loy?

IB has a thread started Friday with a question about it and still no intel posts from staff. They do have a new article about a walk on!

That’s a big loss. And we think they are going to pay Notre dame $50-75 million a year when the next contract comes around?
Well that article is talking about Peacock's losses alone, not NBC, it's parent company. As a whole, NBCU posted revenues of over $9Bn and earnings of almost $2Bn, so to answer your question, yes.

I expect they'd continue to want one game per season on Peacock to continue to get as many eyes on it as possible, unfortunately, at least until they decide the pull the plug.

Listening to the ISD pod right now. Mike is getting really hard to take, and it's such a bummer because Jamie, Matt and Christian are really good.

Mike just seems so out of touch, out of the loop. All opinion, and some really rough takes if you will, just really armature. Maybe I am in a mood, but I have felt like this for a bit.

It’s mike’s company but man does he bring that podcast down.

I would recommend hit and hustle which is a video show on YouTube with Greg and Jamie. They do a great job. Little more technical than other shows.

I wasn’t wild about Greg when he started, but he’s grown on me a lot

Agreed on Mike Frank. It's becoming insufferable. On a related note, I finally had to give up the IB podcast. It's nothing but Driskell's arrogance and a bunch of yes men around him. Can't take it.

I didn't listen to this podcast for a long time because of the comments on here about Mike F. I follow Jamie on Twitter and really like a lot of what he does on there. That prompted me to try and listen to the podcast. I have listened to three of them and won't continue. It really is a shame, but when the host is the worst person - by far - on the podcast I just won't waste my listening time on it. Since he owns the company, it would be in his own best interests to step away and let the other guys take over. It would grow his listenership and bring him more $$.

their best content is when Mike is sick (seems to be once a month) and the podcast is just Jamie and Matt. Its not even Mike's super negative attitude that gets the most its his super cringe attempts at banter

A lot of "I think", " In my opinion" and his #1 hit " I just don't know" He hit all the classics, and threw in some yelling at clouds for good measure
I listened to the podcast a couple times this offseason ; All I could think of was if Chicken Little had a podcast - this would be it. Surprised Notre Dame won a game this year.

Not even cutting the grass offseason worthy and absent of other content, even Driskell's show can make that list.

Irish Illustrated, The Shamrock are my top 2

Irish Breakdown isn't bad, as long as its Brian and Ryan. Driskell is an AHole but does some good stuff, Ryan is sharp.

ISD is going downhill because of Mike Frank, but Jamie U might be my fav ND pundit

I am sure I am missing a couple

Maybe not a popular answer around here, but I would prefer a solo Driskell over most of the alternatives. There’s a reason he turns in 3 hour shows and it is not because he has 3 hours of content. His shows are always twice as long as they need to be because either Vince is repeating what Bryan just said or Ryan is reiterating a point Bryan just made by starting each reply with “we talked about previously, right…”

Whether you like his personality or not, he gets his opinions out there is willing to go long-form on topics that the other weekly podcasts don’t. He just needs to shed people that do nothing but agree with him.

Lol not sure he's the type of person who can co-exist with folks who disagree with him
