Driskel mentioned him on the latest podcast, just saying he was on vacation. But still did mention him as one of the crew.

Wow, taking some rather pointed shots at 247 there.

Gotta say, whenever someone feels the need to stress that they resigned and "this was MY decision," I tend to assume it wasn't.

I don't even know who this guy is.

He'd been with the Horns 247 (Texas) site.

Horns fans wanted him ousted, they weren't happy with his work. Guess he comes off like a pretentious prick, if his Tweet didn't come across that way already. Great for us!

The new BGI recruiting guys seem to be putting in the hustle. I like their Friday podcasts.

Has there been any word on David McKinney?

Changed his Twitter handle, no longer has BGI in front of it, no mention of ND in his bio. Hmmmm, has he or did they move on?

Was never a HUGE fan of his work, but I still listened to it. I guess I could say the same about the new guys, lots of words, but not a lot of content. Just my opinion I guess.

I think the change was offical at the start of the month. I disagree about Singer and Holland coming from my non-subscriber pov. They release a lot of info without having to pay for it... like 247. All I need is their road map, I can get just as much insight from Twitter and the local media from a prospect's hometown/regional area.

Singer and Holland are a huge upgrade over Bodden and McKinney. Never felt like Bodden and McKinney wanted to be there and their content reflected it.

Rivals just released their Top 100 for the Class of 2021. Fisher, Buchner, and Rubio are all listed, and all three are ranked significantly higher than 247.

I wonder if this is part of a coordinated strategy by Rivals. If they keep showing our commits love and EJ Holland keeps crushing it/creating buzz, you may see an exodus of ND subscribers from 247 to Rivals. Now that Pete Sampson’s gone, the only thing keeping me at 247 is the Tim’s.

That'll work for a year or two, until their ratings get exposed as being based on business and not true talent eval. Let's just hope it's a sign of how good these prospects are considered.

I don’t think there is any ploy. I also think Buchner is still underrated anywhere outside the top 20 (but that’s a product of his injury so I get it). Rubio is the real deal and picked up some big offers recently that he didn’t report because 1. He was already set on ND and 2. He’s not an ego guy. Fisher might be overrated at 14 but who the hell knows evaluating an OL that is that young? I know he kicked ass at camp.

I really don't think it's a ploy. I think they are just really talented players and in Rubio's case, they saw him recently at a camp where he did really well.

I don’t think subscribers base decisions on how well talent evaluators perform year-over-year. There are too many variables to assess which site is the most consistently accurate.

I subscribed to 247 because Sampson was the best writer, Prister was the best at post-game analysis, O’Malley was the best personality, and Loy had the best intel. Now Sampson is gone and Holland is coming for Loy’s throne (while having fun doing it). If the Tim’s ever went back to Rivals, I’d flip in a heartbeat.

Best postgame analysis has to go to ISD. Jamie U eats Pristers lunch and then tells him how good it was.

I believe it. Tim P has dumbed down the Tale of the Tapes for the 247 audience. His old 20 page post-game breakdowns on Rivals were my all-time favorites though.

I subscribe to both as I love both Tim's and really like EJ Holland and Mike Singer now. Bryan Driskill is tolerable with his knowledge but I don't like the talking down to subscribers that he does. Loy is good but I think EJ might be better.

I don't know enough about Signore Frappuccino, but am I the only one that thinks it's a bit of a gimmick? The way stuff works most of the time is that the professionals -- through their contacts, mainly within the program and sometimes with the prospect -- know when someone is committing before it's made public. But they can't report it, because they're not supposed to and people would get pissed at them for spoiling the moment.

Posting a frappuccino is the equivalent of the old school "buzz buzz"... it's a transparent way of getting around that embargo and acting "first." In a sense, I kind of like it and respect it because it's clearly effective marketing. I don't mind that it's derivative. The amount of times people post on here "frappuccino!!1! who do you think it is?!" has been cracking me up. He clearly does a good job of attracting attention and building hype, and having a personal brand is important in his line of work. So I don't want to be too "old man yells at cloud" here.

But we all know why we stopped allowing "buzz buzz" and the equivalent on here. It's problematic on many levels... and at it's core it's some amateur hour stuff to be like "I know something you don't know". I know I'm personally not great at toeing that line, which is why I don't post as much about recruiting anymore except occasionally in the mod forum.

Anyways, you all are grown ups and make your own decisions on where you want to subscribe. I've been pretty clear about which sites I support and why. Next year maybe we should bring back the "buzz buzz" and see how many times IE beats the coffee.

I love when a commit drops, and Tom Loy is like "shoutout to [recruit] for trusting us with the early writeup and the sick edit that we had ready for the big moment! That edit tho! *Eyeball Emojis* *Flame Emojis* Subscribe to our site!!!"

Super humble brag just to let everyone know lol.

I eat that frappuccino stuff up, I'll admit it. From my perspective as a fan, its fun. When a frappe is tweeted, it kinda gets me excited.

But from a professional and business POV, I can see how it could be annoying and/or breaking an unwritten rule. I can't imagine EJ, who just got to BGI less than a month ago, would have more "ins" to the team and recruiting than someone like Loy. So I'm sure every Irish insider knows that a commitment is coming, they're just letting it be a true surprise.

But, is it any different than Loy or someone else saying "today will be a good day for Irish fans" or "it'll be a good week to be Irish"?. They're really the same thing.

All three paragraphs are perfectly stated. You get it.

Lots of people clearly enjoy it. We see that on this very board, every time the frap shows up like a bat signal on Twitter people are on here talking about it.

I have nothing to add on the second paragraph. And your third is on point too, because really EJ is just doing a way better job of baiting the hook than other people who drop "hints." So I respect that.

The Frappucino may not be a long term strategy, but it’s a great way to drum up excitement/interest for Rivals. That site has been a graveyard for ND fans for a few seasons now. It seems like we only talked about Rivals to (a) make fun of Driskell for melting down on Twitter; or (b) make fun of Driskell for being a condescending a$$hole to Lou Somogoyi. Hopefully the Holland hire is Rivals’ opening salvo for better coverage of ND football.

the reverence that Singer and Holland appear to hold Driskell in is already kinda irritating IMO. It's all awkward dad jokes and just terribly forced attempts at banter.

Signore Frappuccino sounds like an insult you throw at a punk kid who "found himself" on a 2 week study abroad in Florence.

https://irishsportsdaily.com/forums/1/topics/36510 — shots fired at EJ Holland. FWIW, I can independently confirm from the other professionals/sources that Rivals is full of shit in this one.

I'm told there are some "reports" out there that Christian's story about Brunelle's twist and turns article about he almost committing to Michigan might not be accurate? As if Brunelle's commitment to ND was never in doubt?

I find it comical that those "reporting" this still haven't even interviewed Brunelle. In fact, have they ever spoken to him? Or his family? I'm not sure.

I think one guy, Christian, had the story all along. He was also there today interviewing Brunelle, himself, on video, about his commitment. The only person there. Do you think that was by "chance" that Christian just happened to be there at his workout today and he committed today?

I'm quite sure Christian can give you the most accurate "play-by-play" of the entire situation and has the evidence to prove it. Those suggesting otherwise might want to actually interview the guy in question first before trying to suggest otherwise. It might help their credibility.

Mike Frank

It's hard to balance business and truth, but I've always tried to lean more towards truth even at the expense of my business.

I try to stay out of his junior high stuff, but it angered me reading someone was trying to discredit Christian's hard work on this, and I felt I had to step in and say something. Just wanted people to know that Christian's version was certainly the correct one, and he has countless texts to back it up. More important, he has the story with quotes from Jay and his camp.

Mike Frank

In short, allegedly Rivals still up to their old tricks completely fabricating stuff out of thin air.

LOL at Driskell, Holland, and BGI. I can't believe that all the years and experience Lou S has and it's come down to employing those two, ha.
