Honestly, Pate is getting bodied in his comments. I unsubscribed myself across the board. So, there's potential damage to be done to your brand by hosting such a toxic figure on your non-political show. If I were a political interviewer, that's a different story. But for a CFB podcast? I would 100% not take that interview.

You can believe me or not, I am telling you that I wouldn't take it both from a business standpoint and more importantly, from a personal morals and values standpoint.
Toxic figure? He won the popular vote lol.

I know many consider me to be a bleeding heart cuck.

But, I think if you’re Pate you gotta take the interview. It’s career defining.

I think the criticism of Pate is 100% true. Even his football opinions are “You see, I like good football and good teams! I think teams who score more points are good. Wins are nice!” so I don’t anticipate him having any ability to keep him on schedule.

TBF - If we’re really going to get technical about war crimes, each President in everyone’s life time (even OMM) would be guilty under international law. Josh Pate isn’t platforming someone that everyone doesn’t already have an established opinion on. It’s like being disappointed that the Cantina in Star Wars is having Darth Vader for a fireside chat, what are you gunna do, say no?

Especially when, if history is any indicator, most of the interview will be about how Joe Brandon didn’t care about sports and was the worst president ever and wasn’t half the innocent, totally exonerated and famously generous lover that our big beautiful president is.
Love this take! :ROFLMAO:

Something can be both good for one’s career and evidence that the person is a hypocrite. Now we can talk about whether that justifies the hypocrisy or not, but there is a choice involved here, one that not every person would make.

Toronto, I'm in the Philly burbs clapping my hands for you. It's taken a few years and 7000 posts, but you did it. You had a post that was grounded and reasonable.

I say that in agreement whether it was Josh Pate, Herbstreit, McElroy, or anyone whose full time job is college football. If it's February (post season, post portal, before spring practice) and you work in college football media, you're desperate for content. If the US President wants to join the show (regardless of party) you say yes every time. Not even a debate.

Hey, 1 in 7000 is still a better rate than 2008 has *swoosh sound*.

I mostly enjoy this happening because Pate gets exposed for being exactly what he claims to not be. If anyone actually tunes in to watch it, you deserve a lobotomy. Two guys who say a lot of words but don’t actually get to the point. I swear Trump could say “You know what Josh? I think Michigan could see their trophy go bye bye, you know they cheated, right Josh? Nobody would ever attempt that, but I can. Very fine people from Ohio, like my assistant, JD, who are quite upset about 2023.

*camera pans to Josh Pate*

“Well yeah, of course that’s an option. Who knows though. Michigan was a very good team. Very good teams win games.”

If Donald strips Michigan of their natty, I think a lot of people on this board would start wearing MAGA hats

I mean, if I hosted a sports podcast, I wouldn't interview somebody who is prominently featured in the Epstein Files, regardless of their job title. But that's just me.

I'd turn him down. Bush? Sure. Obama or Clinton? Yes. But I'd turn Trump down if I were in his shoes.

May I ask how you square these two statements other than rank partisanship?
