All of the positives have been said but the ONE negative I can say is that I think USC did us a favor with their play calling. They were completing that five yard out with YAC every time they ran it. If they went to it more often I think it could have been a bit closer.

7 TDs, no pissing around with field goals. How insane is that? Chip Long just called an offensive game plan better than anything I've seen since the 2014 FSU game. Absolutely brilliant.

The slow inclusion of Stepherson (especially on jet sweep) is going to make this offense so much more dynamic and make Josh Adams' job even easier, if you can imagine that.

I've never had this much fun watching a ND team. Getting excited to see the defense take the field is the greatest, weird feeling ever.

This was 100% Helton’s reaction after one of Stepherson’s plays early. I’m about 85% sure NBC showed him after a Stepherson play, maybe just the TD. He looked like he saw a ghost.

To be fair - I think Elko's gameplan was to play off coverage and not get beat deep. As annoying as 3 or 4 completions in a row can be for us fans, I am 100% confident that they could have stopped those if they had wanted to play press coverage but this was probably all in the game plan to give up no deep plays. They did not gain many YAC since we did a good job of wrapping up. USC was taking what we were giving and I think ND was comfortable giving those up all day. I know I was frustrated in the moment with completion after completion but I remember that the coaches are way smarter than me.

I read somewhere, was it on here(?), that the coaches did a self scout on the bye week and found Wimbush to be the most "effect" QB throughout the schedule to date. Basically saying just that, he makes teams pay with his legs, can throw the ball downfield, and he doesn't turn it over.

Of course it was on here!!

I thought that was a brilliant move by the coaching staff over a bye week. Evaluate your own QB as if you were preparing to play against him.

The other side of that coin is how ineffective Darnold is.

I have no idea if this is really you posting or if someone has hacked your account. In any event, I really love this new, optimistic "koonja".

Take it for what it is worth, but in my opinion you have become an "ELITE" contributor to IE. Cheers!

I've always called it like I see it! There wasn't a lot of good to talk about last year, and there is this year. I'm not an optimist or pessimist, I'm a realist. And this team is real.

And be real I've always been elite!

This D reminds me of 2012 in that we keep everything in front of us and tackle really well. What I like about Elko is that he has them work on forcing TOs. Best of both worlds.

I've had my fill of Tenuta/BVG style D's where big plays happen on a regular basis. Tackle great, no big plays, and make these college offenses execute 10+ play drives.

That's always been the troubling part. You actually believe the crazy shit you say.

I kid.

After the revelation that you often go sans socks, I've always known you're a balding guy with a long flow...or just a mullet.

Yes. I posted that earlier. It was BK during his presser. He really said that they were able to see that he is an exceptionally effective QB regardless of his pass stats.

I think it has more to do with sustaining drives, drive efficiency, taking care of the football and making the defense HAVE to account for him every play. Doing so provides advantages all over the field offensively.

Have you read your posts lately brah???

You can't just accuse a man of bare-backing his shoes. I vaguely recall mentioning that going sockless is fashionable in parts of Europe, but it's not a thing in Arizona.

I am able to wear flip flops 325 days out of the year. Just saying.....:)

Wearing business formal attire and flip flops is only mildy frowned upon and deemed as a personal quirk rather than a fashion faux pas.

Libel! Seriously though, where'd you get that idea?

I just surmised that from your advertisements on the bus stops in Phoenix where you're wearing a bolo tie.

No, I'm about +98%, in some discussion on here, you mentioning that you'll go sockless at the office during the summer. Maybe it was during your tweet-at-recruits-phase? Ha

This is actually a photo of Whiskey last time he went to see Metallica. It was around Halloween, so that's why he's wearing the collar.

I can't do that quite as often in Nashville compared to Charleston (I think flip flop season officially ended here yesterday with a cool front coming in last night), but yeah, flip flops, shorts, jeans, untucked shirts, are all pretty much perfectly acceptable business attire here these days.

You joke, but a bolo tie is the centerpiece of the "old Arizona lawyer" uniform. Looking forward to sporting one when I semi-retire in the mountains and spend most of my days holding court in the local bar.

It's been a long time(forever?) since we have had a post game thread this laid back.
