No one would sneer at a 3 seed.

They can seed higher of they play out the season and finish highly in conference, then play well in conference tourney...

I'm optimistic and satisfied with the "ball in their court." ;)

He had us as the #9 team overall 3 days ago. Beating Duke doesn't push us to #8? Splitting hairs, but we really should've been a 2 seed

Well as far as seeding goes, a 3 seed at #9 keeps them out of UK's regional... even though Lounardi is showing UK #1, Wiconsin #5 and ND #9 in the same regional. That is not how it will be selected obviously. UK will get the worst #3 seed in their regional if they are the overall #1.

Please do not read into that as me saying UK can't be beaten. They've shown a few times that they are ripe. ND's mix of maturity, athleticism and shooting could actually be the best team to pull it off along with Wisconsin's size, defense and maturity. You just want a handful of other teams to give it a shot first. would LOVE to see the Irish back in the Final Four.

I was one of 11,345 the Athletics & Convocation Center for the UCLA and Valpo games in '78.

No, not wrong. He blocked it clean and then Okafor pushes through the block and shoots it over the backboard. It should have been ND ball.

.

That's the whole point I made. It was not blocked out of bounds by Colson. It was knocked loose in his hand and he still got a half-ass shot off that went over the backboard. Should have been ND ball.

In 20 years... Every person will guess Bonzie Colson played football at ND. He an NFL TE / DE right now and is 18 months of weights and training table away from being an OT.

I've actually always liked imagining where the basketball guys would play in football. Pat C is tough as all hell, he'd be a good WR or safety. DJ would be a sweet kick/punt returner, he is quick as hell. Grant would be a nice WR as well. Harangody back in the day would've been a great Gronk-esque TE. Every year, I always feel like we have 2-3 guys on the basketball team who could get PT on the football team.

Did they say last night that Bonzie has a wingspan of someone 7'2"? Stick him at LT and let Longo bulk him up.

Vasturia looks like Rees a bit, so just stick him at QB naturally.

If a 3 seed is what ND gets, I'll live with it. I can imagine any 2 seed would be very very nervous to have us in their region of the bracket. I really do think that if ND wins the games that they are supposed to this year and loses to say, Louisville and Duke, they should be in line for a 2 seed. I don't like looking ahead though after the football season...

Apparently his dad, Harvey, played in the NBA to. I didn't know that either.
Come on guys....

Jm. But on a serious note, I welcome all to the basketball train!

Perhaps, one day, I won't be the only one on here that prefers the bball program over football. I'd rather the bball team win a national title than football.

I feel like less of an outcast this season. Lol

Haha, same. I would post in the B-ball recruitment thread or in here and it seemed like the same five posters would respond. The more ND sports talk, the better, right?

I've always been a bigger fan of the basketball team because when I was in school the football team was terrible and the basketball team basically never lost at home.

The two sports are fairly equal in my eye now though.

Try having them be terrible your whole entire life. Well, I mean of what I can remember. 91'

First off, I meant to type ND instead of NFL.

Bonzie Colson has a football frame. I was shocked to see they have him listed at just 226. If he is, he doesn't look it. I've followed him a over the past few years. His Dad was on my team at Five Star and then played at URI. I've seen some pictures of junior where he definitely has had on extra weight. I'll stick by him looking bigger than 226 and leave it at that for now. I'm 6-5, have a similar frame as Colson and played at 235 in college. I walk around 20 years later at a fairly in shape 275. I could easily be 300-325 if I didn't watch what and how much I ate, didn't do cardio.... or had chosen to continue lifting with the purpose of gaining mass. I have the frame to hold it. I constantly get asked if I played football in college or the NFL. When I tell them I played G-F in basketball they look at me like I'm lying. Bonzie is going to get the same thing down the road when he continues to naturally fill out, if he lifts to add mass, he's gonna be an absolute house.

In regards to his size and how it translates into football positions. He's naturally bigger than some, probably most freshmen DE's and TE's when they come to South Bend. Look at Bo Wallace or Nic Wieshar. I didn't say he weighs more than most. That is the distinction I'm trying to get across here. He has an extremely large frame. The football players I'm comparing him to have been lifting with the intention of getting into football shape over the last few years, Bonzie hasn't. Now think about what the S/C staff can do with an untouched frame like Bonzie's. His high school bio's were in the 225-230 range. From experience, I went from 220 to 250lbs during my redshirt year and stopped knowing I was going to have to trim down at least 10-15lbs over the summer and in pre-season.. If Bonzi is only 226, he would have the body of a TE / DE in less than a year and a 3-4 DE / OT in 2 years. My initial 18 mos was figuring that he weighs 240+ right now which makes him DE / TE sized right now.

Vasturia looks like Rees a bit, so just stick him at QB naturally.

Pat Connaughton is the ideal NFL QB size right now. He's another big framed guy who would blow up with football lifting. He's an easy TE / DE with that frame.

Jackson is listed at 6-1, 200. So WR, big corner right now... running back or safety with with a few pounds which as we know are easy to come by in a real S/C program.

Jerian Grant has the big WR body, just have to hang 15lbs on his 6-5 frame. He dould do that virtually overnight. His Dad and Uncle were both ripped so it's in his genetics.

Steve Vasturia, good call on Tommy Rees. He's bigger than Rees but does remind one of Tommy. Glad I'm not the only one who thought that! He's 6-5, 210-215 I'd guess but he'd be a big QB with football weights and probably is right at the median weight for a 6-5 soph. QB in college right now... TE sized by the time he left ND with non stop training.

Not only were horace and harvey brothers, they were twins. Thought I'd share for those not in the know.

Which one died?

Were they identical twins?
