Freeman posted that Wesley is moving his decision forward to Nov. 20th. Feels like pending good news for ND!
Fifty years ago, dur*ing the 1969 – 70 NCAA tour*na*ment, Notre Dame’s Austin Carr set the sin*gle-game scor*ing record with 61 points against the Mid-American Conference cham*pi*on, Ohio University.
Shooting 57% from the field, the 6’3” Notre Dame guard made 25 field goals out of 44 attempts. He near*ly dupli*cat*ed this amaz*ing feat a week lat*er against SEC cham*pi*on Kentucky and Big Ten champ Iowa, scor*ing 52 and 45 points respec*tive*ly. His three-game shoot*ing per*cent*age was 58%.
Significantly, he was joined by team*mate Collis Jones who aver*aged 23 points per game in the three con*tests. Together, they pro*duced 228 points in three suc*ces*sive tour*na*ment games — an aver*age of 76 points per game on 54% marksmanship.
Was this a one-year won*der? A sta*tis*ti*cal anomaly?
Add the next year of tour*na*ment play to the com*par*i*son, three games in 1970 – 71. That year, Carr and Jones com*bined for 195 points on 45% shoot*ing, an aver*age of 65 points per game. Over the course of six games span*ning two tour*na*ments, the duo pro*duced 423 points, shoot*ing 50% from the field and aver*ag*ing 71 points per game. A two-man scor*ing record that has stood for fifty years — accom*plished with*out the ben*e*fit of the three-pointer.
He actually reminds me of Cam Biedscheid.
Good handles for a 6-7 high schooler, but not particularly explosive. Shows really good vision, good passer and skills. Really good shooter at that level.
Edit: Removed the release point comparison. His isn't anywhere near as pronounced as Cam's was. Still may need work to get it off against higher level athletes.
Hopefully he doesn't have the baggage.
Great get for Brey. I like what he's putting together here. Last two classes of Sanders, Taylor, Zona, Wesley, and JR. Throw in a Wertz transfer.
Two concerns I have is lack of length inside. And what the plan is for lead guard.

Incase anyone was wondering what kind of athlete he is.
He had 33 points last night. If Riley and St Joe play I might see if I can swing by to watch
He can play this year?
Will he take Durham's spot at the 5?
Will he have two seasons of eligibility since this season "doesn't count"?
