2019 target Isaiah Stewart will certainly be close by as he is transferring to La Lumiere.

Didn't realize that the new La Lumiere coach is Pat Holmes who is a 2012 graduate of ND. Don't know if it will have any effect on recruiting, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

Now confirmed. This is huge. This is great news! I have had the pleasure of meeting Pat Holmes a few times through a close friend. Pats father has been associated with the Notre Dame basketball program as the academic advisior for the players for close to two decades.
Therefore, Pat is extremely close with Coach Brey. If this can open a pipeline of players heading to Notre Dame over the next few years from one of the best high school programs in the country. I am all for it!

Oh wowww... just m ade this connection, but he is leaving McQuaid, which is located in Rochester NY. My home city. They are rivals of my old highschool (as well as Jarron and Jamir Jones, Aquinas), so I have seen and heard A LOT about this kid since he was in 8th grade. Would be amazing if we could land him!

I think it was because Brey (supposedly) had an extramarital affair.

The Brey firings calls were all pre-Elite 8. At that point Brey hadn't had success in March for over a decade, the criticisms were legitimate.

March success and recruiting have since skyrocketed. I still want them to get national with their scheduling like the football team (USC annually, etc) and put their foot in the gas to become a national program.

If the criticisms were only March performance, sure. But, like every other internet argument, those legit criticisms quickly became absolutes. Let's not put rose-colored glasses on the argument, it wasn't just based on his failures in March.

"Brey will never recruit enough to get us over the hump", "Brey has peaked", "His system isn't something for sustained success in March", "We'll never consistently be in the DUke/UNC stratosphere", "Insert personal attack here", "Brey is too loyal to his assistants (yes, this was an argument I vividly remember)".

The March problems were the entry point to criticism many aspects of the program that were just ridiculous. Such is the way of the internet message board, not like it's the first or last time this will happen.

Hell, I remember defending Willingham with a passion, so my track record isn't exactly the best.

Just stumbled across another ND connection at LaLumiere.

The Head of School since July 2016 is Adam Kronk who is a ND man.

Head of School | La Lumiere School

Mr. Adam Kronk is La Lumiere School’s seventh Head of School. A University of Notre Dame alumnus, Adam earned both his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Master of Nonprofit Administration degrees; summa cum laude. He brings extensive leadership experience to the School in both education and nonprofit organizations in the Midwest.

Before coming to La Lumiere, Mr. Kronk led the Notre Dame Deloitte Center for Ethical Leadership in Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, where he also taught ethics in the Management Department. Adam began his career in the classroom as an English teacher at University of Detroit Jesuit High School & Academy. He then worked overseas as Notre Dame’s Director of Campus Ministry Outreach in Europe, before returning to South Bend and serving as Chief Operating Officer of the Center for the Homeless; a nationally recognized residential facility providing extensive programming and on-site services to more than 200 men, women, and children. There he met his wife, Jacqueline, and after working together for five years, they moved to Southeast Asia to help lead PEPY; an international organization working to improve access to quality education in rural Cambodia.

Mr. and Mrs. Kronk have three young boys and are happy to be a part of La Lumiere School’s vibrant community.

Nate Laszewski starts his weekend visit at Notre Dame today. He plans to make a decision before his senior season starts in November. 3 more Notre Dame CBs have come in recently.

Also, Isaiah Stewart got his Notre Dame offer last week during an unofficial visit. Many believe he sits at the top of Brey's 2019 big board. Mike Brey has a GREAT shot at adding Laszewski and Stewart in back-to-back classes; add those two with Durham and now we have a really good, deep front court to go with our always good back court.

For those who don't know who Isaiah Stewart is, 247 has him ranked as a 5:s: and is a borderline 5:s: in composite. He stands at 6'8", 250 pounds so he's a big boy. He also has offers from pretty much everywhere.

Go get 'em Coach! Hoops recruiting is off the charts compared to pretty much any time in my lifetime. New facilities are no joke and long overdue. Now if they can just get the bookstore to carry some basketball gear and half the fanbase to acknowledge we have a basketball team.

This. All day, this. Being on the road for a football game, we have tons of fans willing to give an arm and a leg to see the Irish, but for basketball games they don't even realize the team is in town. It's one thing for this to happen when the football team is good and basketball sucks, but Brey has had this team doing so much better than the football team, and doing it the right way with no drama or controversey and players willing to put their bodies on the line for the win. Our basketball team could turn into a powerhouse with just half the support of the football team.

Half is being generous. One tenth is more like it. Always odd to me how the subway alums in particular will foam at the mouth over football with zero respect for any other program on campus - academic or athletic. To me the whole picture is what makes the place special.

Agree with the last sentence in particular. The basketball program is also so easy to root for. Always some good guys on the team, recent hometown star in DJ, guys like Bonzie and Matt Farrell that are so fun to watch and great competitors, and a Coach who represents the univeristy in the best manner possible, maximizes his talent, and has had sustained success.

$500-$700/per seat for season tickets in good locations, no donation required. Compare to cheapest football season ticket of $1150. Upper end season seats for $225. I'll spend more than that to go to one game against Duke this year. Have to pace myself since they are down here against Duke, UNC, NCST and Wake Forest in a one month span.

15 or 16 games versus 7 (normally 6) - I know where I would be spending my money if I were a local.

Then don't get tickets for football games. Why spend the money if you feel this way? That's the entire argument we've been trying to make. Instead, if you are so upset about the state of the football program, of buying season tickets, then selling them at a profit you could just A, not buy them, B, give them to friends, family, members on this board, sell them to friends, family, members of this board, or C, give them to your local alumni chapter.

I don't have season tickets stud - you nellies are so busy looking for a dog to kick you are making my five year old look rational and measured. I buy tickets through the lottery and try to work with friends to get tickets for each other. Plans fall through frequently because we are all middle aged gainfully employed adults with children travelling from hundreds of miles away. When my wife's work schedule changes or school schedules get announced AFTER the lottery - it screws up some great opportunities to support my team. Then factor in the cost of travel and hotels - I'm $2500 into a weekend before I even get game tickets if I fly in with all five of us and stay anywhere close to campus. More than you singles are paying for a whole year of football in your backyard. Rather than count yourselves lucky you bitch and moan that everyone else sucks.

I stood through a fucking hurricane last year to support my 2-3 team after paying a ton of ABOVE FACE VALUE money to bring my entire family of five to a complete disaster of a game. I will pay above face value for North Carolina tickets to bring my family of five to support my team. Nobody is doing me any favors, I have to hustle my own ass to track this stuff down - I don't have local friends giving me tickets to the most expensive game their crappy team has hosted in decades, they will sell at a premium though.

So I go to as much basketball (men and women) as I can locally. Baseball and soccer too - saw the women give UNC the biggest beat down in their program history a number of years ago. Haven't made any Lacrosse yet. I have a decent network of contacts locally who have an interest in these events. If plans change I sell them to ND fans first if I can, usually try to coordinate a crowd. You see - showing a presence away from home is kind of like a big deal. Everywhere ND goes, there is support. Who is showing up to cheer for the Wolfpack in the JACC?

But thanks for dragging it into another thread. #millennials

Love that you throw in #millennials like that. Mea culpa for assuming you had season tickets... my bad.

I love how you throw in that you stood through a "fucking hurricane" last year as if that has relevance to this game. Guess you wanted to prove that "millennials" are soft and you are such a badass.

You come off portraying yourself as the victim. "Nobody is doing me any favors" "I have a wife and kids" blah blah blah (You sound pretty "millennial" there my friend). Guess what? So does half this board! YOU sold tickets on StubHub knowing full well that odds are it was Georgia fans that were most interested at those prices. That has nothing to do with ND fans not wanting to attend a game. It has everything to do with Georgia fans PLANNING on invading South Bend to get a once in a lifetime view of their team playing in Notre Dame Stadium.

YOU failed to offer your tickets to anyone on this board, and YOU decided you wanted a profit at the expense of the team. But we've gone over this ad nauseam so whatever.

Also what does NCST playing basketball at ND have to do with any of this?

Baby boomer here not a millennial. If you weren't such an ass about what you did, I might have offered you my four tickets to the North Carolina game as it looks like I may not be able to go. Be a fan and support the team instead of looking for profits and you may get favors back. I have given tickets for free and sold some for face value to members of I.E.

You are in a basketball thread stalking me. In case you didn't notice. Heads up, Notre Dame is a multifaceted institution, not just a football team.

I went through actual people I know and none wanted the ticket. I was willing to go myself but no one willing to ride shotgun. But you are pissed I didn't gift a $1000 value ticket to internet strangers who likely would have bitched about the $200 face value of the ticket to a game we are probably going to lose anyway - or flipped it for a profit themselves and not told anyone. No kidding, if you offer something at 1/5th the market value there are more buyers for it? It f-ing embarrasses me ND has the #1 undergraduate business school and this is so foreign to so many on this board.

Don't flatter yourself. I have this thread pop up when someone posts in here since I've posted in here. I'm one of those Subway Domers that DOES support all the sports, and academics of Notre Dame.

See the convo Wiz and Syria have going on about the ethics of selling a ticket.

Hope you enjoy the basketball season - great time to be in South Bend with cheap access to elite basketball and the premier basketball conference. Really great deal to be had for their season tickets - people don't realize how expensive ACC basketball is down here. I may even try to make a home game from 800 miles away if I can make enough off of my Sugar Bowl tickets - I bought them in the off chance ND made it I could go knowing if they don't I might make a few bucks to spend elsewhere. I'm sure that pisses the leaches off.

Good article about this weekends recruiting visit from Laszewski.

Wisconsin fans are starting to lose faith that Laszewski will end up there given that he doesn't plan on taking an official there and the fact that they appeared to "amp up" their recruiting of a couple of other "bigs" who announced plans to visit in September.

Short Notre Dame basketball visit list includes big man Nate Laszewski | Notre Dame Insider Men's Basketball | ndinsider.com

Most of the Wisconsin experts were originally holding out a bit of hope that the reason why Nate hadn't scheduled an official is that he's been on campus so many times that he's seen everything that he didn't need to do an official. Eventually most of the analysts have become increasingly pessimistic and very few are holding out much hope at this point.

What you did makes you a BAD FAN, not an idiot. I don't need my degree from the #1 business school to make that analysis. That's what you aren't getting. You think because you turned a profit you are a wonderful human because you stuck it to the university and it's bad football team. #eyeroll

I'm not sure how accurate that statement is. I'm a subway alum and follow ND FB, BB, WBB, Soccer. I've been to a number of BB games when they play in Indy. People are typically surprised when I talk about the academics, the culture, etc. Their comment is usually something like, "Wow you are a fan of Notre Dame".

Yeah I usually get around to discussing how much a love that the athletes are a part of the university (random roommates, etc) and are at least encouraged to go to school pretty quickly.

That is awesome and I love that you love the whole of Notre Dame, but not many people that aren't alums are like that here in Chicago. I think it will be interesting to see how many ND fans make it out to DePaul for the season and stadium opener. Better yet, I want to see how many know ND is playing in Chicago!!!

I find this interesting - I always felt like Brey was too passive in recruiting but now that we have some momentum he is really taking it to a new level. I wonder if a lot of that is following good guidance from Ayers and Hump who I suspect deserve a lot of credit too.

nail on the head with Hump. Read it multiple places that he is very engaging and the players / parents / HS coaches love him.

I think Brey smells blood in the water. Took entire staff with him to see Laszewski.
