Yes we defiantly have the stars that can be a good together.

I have a feeling DJ is gonna have a break out year this year. It would be awesome if this group could stay together for the next 2 years but thats probably unrealistic.

I think DJ already broke out this year. Defensively he is avoided and recognized as a premier defender. Offensively, he took over at times in plenty of games and made excellent decisions. He was our best player on the floor for a lot of minutes this year.

I'm no basketball talent scout, but isn't Jackson too short to ever be a lottery pick? I'm expecting him to stay all four years regardless of his talent. I definitely agree that he was the best player on the court for a lot of minutes this year.

What i meant by breakout year was to become the leader and take the team under his wing. Probably should have worded it better. I know he is gonna be forced to be in the position but i can definatly see him being a great player now that its basically gonna be his lead

This is the stuff I don't understand. Stud player from Northern Indiana with all crystal balls pointing towards him attending a small Catholic school not known for one-and-dones.... that is also 1,500 away at Gonzaga. How can this be?

Michigan could be close to offering. Sounds like a late bloomer that is coming on strong.
Michigan eyes Westland big man Mike Edwards for potential 2015 scholarship offer | MLive.com

Over the weekend, Westland John Glenn High School center Mike Edwards took an unofficial visit to the Michigan campus, John Glenn coach Rod Watts confirmed Monday.

Called a "late bloomer" by Watts, Edwards is 6-foot-9 and roughly 220 pounds. He is unranked by Rivals.com and Scout.com and ranked by 247Sports as the 344th-ranked player in the 2015 class (No. 33 center, No. 6 in Michigan).

While the Wolverines have not offered a scholarship to Edwards, many others have, including Georgia, Kansas State, Nebraska, Marquette, Illinois State, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and Ball State, and others, according to Watts. Edwards has taken one official visit to Northern Illinois, while unofficially visiting Boston College, Bowling Green, Ball State and EMU. Missouri visited Westland last week to see him work out.

As of last summer, Edwards only held a scholarship offer from Akron.

Then he bloomed. After averaging under five points and five rebounds per game as a junior, Edwards averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks this season as a senior.

"Big guys sometimes develop late and Mike is one of those guys who has continued to work and just gotten better and better each month," Watts said. "He's getting the attention he deserves. He's hard-working and has a very high ceiling."

Michigan hosted Edwards at its annual College Practice Camp last June. According to Watts, U-M coaches were impressed and visited Westland in September to see Watts in an open workout. At the time, the U-M staff told Edwards if he wanted to sign a scholarship offer early, they wouldn't be able to offer. If he wanted to wait until the late signing period, however, they told him there might be the possibility of an offer.

Now Edwards will learn soon enough if that's the case. Michigan assistant coaches attended a handful of Edwards' games last season before inviting him for the weekend visit.

"They've shown interest all the way along," Watts said.

Given Edwards' current amount of options, though, he's not twiddling his thumbs waiting for a program looking only to sign a big man late in the game. He still plans to take his four remaining official visits.

"Mike Edwards will not be going anyplace where they just need a warm body and a heartbeat," Watts said. "Mike Edwards if going to go to a school that needs Mike Edwards, not just because he's the best available, but because they need an athletic big that can pick and pop, a guy that can step out and shoot, a guy that has a post game, a guy that can run the floor -- a guy that can do all the things that Mike can do. At this point in time, the schools that have offered, need that."

Despite being the son of former Michigan State football player Michael Edwards, a defensive lineman from 1990 to 1992, the younger Mike Edwards has stuck with a slow process of becoming a Division I basketball player. His talent came to fruition this season thanks to added weight, increased confidence and a more aggressive style.

"People can see where he was and where he's at now," Watts said, adding, "The bottom line was, he wanted to put in the work. He has the work ethic. It was just a matter of showing him what he needed to do to get the fruits of his labor."

While serving as an assistant to Everett's Johnny Jones 10 years ago, Watts worked with prized big men Goran Suton, who went off to Michigan State, and Derick Nelson, who went on to Oakland, as the team won the 2004 Class A state championship. A few years later as Lansing Eastern High School head coach, Watts helped develop LaDontae Henton, who just finished a 2,000-point, 1,000-rebound career at Providence. Watts also worked with notable Michigan-bred big men Al Horford, Paul Davis and Draymond Green in AAU basketball.

Asked for a comparison, Watts said, "Mike is probably the most athletic of all those guys at that size, though, Derick Nelson was a pretty athletic kid. But really, Mike is his own guy."

Hopefully with ND making it to the Elite 8 recruiting for basketball picks up. Brey has done a decent job of developing guards. I really wish that Cameron Biedscheid could've figured out his situation and stayed at ND.

MBB: Rival$ says 2016 4* PG TJ Gibbs will visit ND in mid-May. May not take all OVs. Could decide before Fall. NDHR thinks ND leads.

Temple Gibbs would be a huge addition. Would probably start as a sophomore after D-Jax leaves

We are a candidate for Bradley transfer Josh Cunningham who averaged 7.9 ppg and 7.5rpg at 6'7.

Would be a nice get.

Kid had offers from a bunch of big time schools including Indiana. No idea why he chose Bradley

Yup he is a good player. Would be a nice addition.

I also wouldn't be suprised if sterling Gibbs considers us since there is talk that we are the top candidate for his younger brother temple gibbs

Who was the kid who was considering ND and chose FLA? Any chance we go after him again?

FLA's only b-ball recruit currently committed is John Mooney and he does not show a ND offer. Either do any of the 2015 commits.

ISD had a b-ball recruiting update this morning via twitter. Any update to that would be greatly appreciated.

Intel had a couple basketball items in it. One was that TJ Gibbs was making his official visit this weekend. Visited Oklahoma last weekend and doesn't have any other trips planned at this point. He doesn't have a timetable on a decision. The other tidbit was ND offered 2016 guard Kevin Huerter out of New York, a 6-6 point guard. Huerter told ISD that he wants to visit ND this summer, and his coach seems like he's in ND's corner.

Yep Gibbs is committed- posted on his IG. Absolutely huge get for Brey. He cited the fact that they "proved they are one of the big boys this year and are around to stay" as a reason for committing. It was only starting in March that we began to lead for him if I'm correct. What an absolutely awesome sign for our program.

What a huge get. Secures that backcourt for 3 years after D-Jax leaves. He's not the athlete D-Jax is but damn can he play. Need a lengthy athletic big now.

So apparently we are pursuing Austin Nichols hard right now. Some reports saying it's us and Marquette who are pushing the hardest for his services. He was the 7th best PF and a top 15 recruit
