I still don’t think Hartline would leave OSU, but that news is kinda pointless because it always seemed to me any chance of Hartline coming here was dependent upon Day leaving for the Bears.

Hartline is off the table to my knowledge. He was a pipe dream anyways, but I think he mentioned not being interested in leaving OSU last week even. Not sure why he continues to be brought up. That title upgrade is just nail in the coffin assuredly.

Still outside chance on Day going NFL but yes slim to none chance IMO.

Hartline coming in has always felt like an Meyer/Saban/Gruden situation to me. People dream, people keep talking, never gonna happen.

Without question, this, 100%. ND fans can wish in one hand and crap in the other expecting both hands to somehow fill up together.

I don't know if Chicago has the brains to fire Matt Nagy, but even if they do there isn't a guarantee Ryan Day gets that job. It is going to take a lot to get Day to leave Ohio State. Chicago willing to pay that seems like a pipe dream in and of itself. Ryan Day may see working for that GM as a career threatening option, too. If he's smart.

Let's hope for this dude from Bama at WR coach. I think that would be a great fit.

I think if we hire Shepard or Wiggins, it’s a win and we’ll see some real improvements from the WR room.

Yup. Give me one of those 2 and I will be happy. We lose out on both and I will probably be disappointed in whoever we end up getting.

I’m very interested in seeing the final jobs for the different coaches. Will Taylor continue as the Run-game coordinator or will Hiestand require that as part of him coming back? Will Shepherd/Wiggins be an Assistant OC? Or Passing Game Coordinator? Lots of options it appears.

Give me a WR coach who the recruits will know during their recruitment, who will keep recruiting when needed, and who can develop.

When I read that Colzie didn't even know who Del was, that was embarrassing.

I did read where UW (Washington) seems to think he is being hired for their WR coach…….report came out yesterday. I guess we’ll see how it shakes out.

Does this mean for the majority of the recruiting process? To be clear, I'm not doubting you but do you have a source? Baffling if true.

As far as Shepard goes, his passing game resume is spectacular.

He's worked for 4 QB Guru's:

Good Taggert
Rehab Petrino
The Pirate
Brohm twice

The one thing we'll miss is Del's ability to get WR's to block like bosses cuz Shepard's obviously never taught blocking under those 4.

It may be a hot take but I like Shephard better than Wiggins.

I can debate either side. I love Shepard's resume. Start to finish better than Wiggins if you don't overweight Wiggins' 3 Saban years.

Things I like about Wiggins:

1. Charlie Weiss Championship Ring Recruiting moves

2. Jerry Juedy, Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith, Jameson Williams, John Metchie and Henry Ruggs attorney are all on speed dial.

3. Slathered in Saban's Secret Sauce.

4. Played with Brian Urlacher for 3 years

5. He's from LA. They are losing Del & Polian's SoCal Rolodex. Having a native can't hurt. Will be able to see 3x as many recruits cuz he knows when NOT to get on the 10, 605, 405 and 5.

Nagy is done, not even in question. Most reports are that pace is done as well. But if he stays he won't be a GM.

Agreed. Wiggins is at Bama so it's hard to compare now. Sheppard though did better at Purdue than Wiggins did at Virginia Tech both coaching wise and recruiting wise.

Sheppard is from Indiana. He understands the passing game in November Indiana weather, and how route running may need be adjusted.

Notre Dame was at it's best here when it was trendsetting. Notre Dame though really since the 80s has played follower. ND chased 2012 Bama, and when they caught them in 2018, Bama and Clemson weren't in 2012 anymore. With Marcus Freeman as head coach it's time for Notre Dame to be the trendsetter in college football again. I like the idea of going with the hungry still ascending coach here.

Football is always changing, the best today aren't always the best tomorrow. I would love to have coach Wiggins but if I can I want someone who can be better than coach Wiggins. Instead of trying to steal Bama's guy because he's the best I want to find the next ascending coach that can do it better than Bama's guy. I say let's go with the ascending coach here.

The fact there are no rumblings on DC tells me Marcus Freeman is doing the DC search 100% completely by himself.

The names mentioned are probably just leaks by their their representatives to get em raises.

I feel like at this point we're just going have someone we absolutely didn't expect to just get announced out of nowhere .

Reading between the lines it seems like Shepard has an offer from UW, and he told them he needs some time (to wait on ND). Wiggins's season will be over tonight, so assumedly he will interview this week too. I bet we get a leak on the hire by the end of the week.

Although Loy seems to have narrowed it down to Wiggins and Shepard, from what I've seen he still isn't ready to eliminate Hartline. I'm guessing the only reason to hold out hope for Hartline is that a wild card situation could still happen, i.e. Day goes NFL.

On the DC hire, the II guys believe/know Freeman is keeping it close to the vest. NOTHING has leaked and there are supposedly mystery candidate(s). So that is the intriguing one.
