Considering what we know about Jack and his propensity to keep things about as tight lipped as possible, I'm gonna go ahead and say Dodd is FOS here.

Could be Fickell, but if that's the case, you need to name an interim. There is a game(s) left to be played.

Dennis Dodd is reporting that Swarbrick is willing to wait for Fickell. If true, that means:
1) Freeman is as good as gone, short of some insane compensation package to get him to stay
2) The recruiting class is going to disintegrate over the next two weeks

Even worse -- the drop in line about "Midwest Catholic recruiting" -- signals a return to utter mediocrity. If this plays out how Dodd suggest, then Swarbrick should be canned immediately. Fickell is the kind of coach who can get you some nice 9-3 seasons while recruiting in the teens.

That's what the BoF wants. If this is true, we're done.

Whoever is next I want Jack and Jenkins to get the structure right before the contract.

-- We recruit more nationally than any other school - 24/7 private jet access for recruiting and personal use. Non-negotiable.
-- Realize inflation is headed for a 30% increase (look at circulation of US currency from 2018 to now). It's no surprise the new contracts are for $10M. You don't have to pay $10M, but it can't be less than $8.5 flat.
-- Update the damn gug.

That's it - that isn't asking for the moon, that is very realistic to stay in the game.

That reads like Dodd is speculating based on the things we know.

Waiting for Fickell will look super smart when the Bears hire Ryan Day.

Bears really gonna take Day? I hate to admit it, but I think Harbaugh is right when he said Day is a pinch runner on 3rd and thinks he hit a triple. That dude may have been riding Urban's coattails and we're seeing the decline begin.

Will look great when Day goes to the NFL in a year or two and Fickell goes to OSU and we'll be in the same spot again.

I think Day is the next Kingsburry. Great Offensive Mind. Would fit in well in the NFL

I think it's true he doesn't know how to build a college program but I think the things he is good at mesh with the demands of the NFL.

If the BoF isn't going to allow us to compete for titles, then ND won't be a destination job, and we'll have to get used to our best coaches jumping ship for schools that give them what they need to compete.

My take on this - Hire Freeman as HC, bring in David Cutcliffe as OC, and call either Morgan Scalley from Utah or Nate Woody at Army for DC and swing for the fences........

That's not surprising. This is Kelly's big announcement coming up. Don't want to take the spotlight away from him with discussions on assistants who accompanied him.

Well, it actually is surprising which is why I posted it. BK gave a list of names to LSU's athletic department on guys that he was expecting to come with him. Shea Dixon is reporting that the list has changed a few times since this morning but they still expected more than BK. For now, this would seem like a solid win for ND if nobody jumped ship with BK yet.

This reads to me that either Freeman is already gone or they are working out the contract. How can you try to keep the OC without knowing who the HC is?

If this is the case the they must know who the HC is going to be (Freeman). This is at complete odds with what Dodd reported.
