So...silly question, the jerseys have 2017 and the trophy says 2017 but the Clemson hats and shirts have 2016 National Champions. Are they the 2016 or 2017 NC?

Our D just looked gassed down the stretch. Not wild about the no calls on the pick plays, but they were judgement calls, not horrible officiating. Hats off to Clemson. Let's get ready to do it all again in 8 months.

Pssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss ...

We are screwed again!

I loved Ben Boulware coming out of high school. But he was not going anywhere else but Clemson. He is a South Carolina kid.

He won't be a high draft pick. But I promise you he will start in the NFL for 10 years.

Bo Scarborough getting hurt was the turning point in the game.

The fact that it's been 35 years since Clemson won the NC has got me depressed by reminding me that we're nearly 30 years removed from our own most recent title.

At least Bama lost, and a team that doesn't win a lot of championships pulled through.

That and the horrible no-calls on the picks to open the Clemson WRs.

A whole lot of vbucks just went *poof* I see, lol.

I would've been happier for Clemson if they would've won on a legal play. They guy that did the "picK" literally just fell into the defender's legs.

I love what Clemson does on offense. Multiple formations, lots of pre snap movement, move the pocket and launch point for Watson. I'd like to see ND get more creative like this.

The bolded is what I like about them the most. I haven't watched them all that much this season but Fowler said that Clemson doesn't sub on offense. So they run multiple formations with the same 11 guys!? That is very impressive and that has to give opposing defenses fits since the refs won't allow them to sub.

I'm watching this game and all I keep thinking is "they called no targeting on a half dozen plays ND would've gotten flagged on, and missed critical OPI calls on pick plays that are apparently only illegal if Notre Dame runs them."

Crazy, awesome game.

First thing I thought of as well. How they couldn't have called them was mind boggling.

I'm amazed how much bigger Bama is across the board. I realize they get a bunch of 5 star kids, but Clemson looked small compared to them. PED's?

Well-executed Pick play

Well-executed Pick play

Not sure whether or not this has been discussed already, but it seems that ACC school Clemson won the National Championship on a very similar play that ND used to BEAT ACC school FSU in 2014. That was a very nice pick by the Clemson player.

It's not the exact play, but it is a designed pick in the same spot of the field.

Better execution - not nearly as obvious as the FSU call (which was still BS) - Bama defender avoided contact and ran around the log jam. Had he ran right into the blocking receiver we may have seen a flag (God knows the took every other opportunity to benefit Bama). The receiver did a good job selling it by running right into his defender as if he was just being jammed on his route. He trusted he would get in the way without staring down the target and running at him. Also good job understanding the ball just has to cross the plane - why run deeper into the endzone creating a longer throw/more difficult angle if you don't have to?

Great game - love that Bama has something to whine about. Watson really won me over as I was not convinced he was that great until last night.

stop asking questions, the reason they're bigger is Bama pride.

Clemson ran that play twice for 2 TDs. The first play was executed flawlessly. The WR setting the "pick" is supposed to turn and look for the ball; he did. The game-winning play did not get executed in this manner, and imo, should've been called for illegal blocking (or whatever they called ND for). That WR basically fell to the ground "blocking" the defenders. This is exactly what ND did, although, like you mentioned, ND was much more obvious. I feel like Clemson got away with one here and it was fortunate for them.

That's my take on the pick plays.

The Clemson receiver dove at the defender's legs while the ND receiver was more or less "engaged" with the FSU defender - with it being a judgement call as to who initiated contact on whom. They're both obvious pick plays. We just ended up getting screwed either way.

One reason they are bigger is because they get the cream of the crop, year in and year out. How many projects do they even take on? Then JUCO transfers and red/grey shirts add up to those kids on the field being so much more developed. Then add some deer antler spray and PEDs and you can own CFB.

Dabo after the game: "greatness is for all us, not just the Alabamas, Ohio States, Notre Dames."

love his outlook on things

happy for the guy to get a natty especially vs his alma mater and satan.

read article while back he had to overcome lot of adversity growing up; respect how his positive attitude seems to permeate everything he does and wears off on those around him.

Spurrier a couple years ago: "We ain't Alabama, we ain't LSU, but we ain't Clemson." No kidding...
