I've been watching this very interesting documentary,
Schooled, about various issues in college athletics. It has a section on the UNC academic scandal.
If we are forced to vacate our wins, UNC must be forced to vacate their basketball wins for the period their racket was in operation- which includes the 05 and 09 titles. After all, there were players on those teams who were in fake classes. This means they were academically ineligible, which means the wins have to vacated, according to the NCAA's ruling in our case. If the NCAA does not require this, then our vacation (
lol) of wins cannot possibly be justified.
I'm not sure I think UNC
should have to vacate its wins. The NCAA rules do not specify when wins must be vacated; it is at the discretion of the panel. But we obviously agree that it must be consistent.
