Navy 2020 game moved to Dublin?

The Aer Lingus College Football classic will be played on August 29th, 2020. That makes this a Thursday game which will allow a little more rest time for the Irish before they welcome the Arkansas Razorbacks to South Bend the following weekend.

Same, if it were possible to book a flight this early, I would do it so I would be essentially "married" to the trip. I was planning to go to Lambeau for ND/Wisconsin in 2020, but this might have just trumped that.

I've been to Dublin, and actually stayed in a B&B about two blocks from Aviva Stadium.

Ireland is an absolute blast, and it's only the size of South Carolina. There is a lot to see, but you can essentially drive coast to coast North South East and West in a little over 3 hours, with beautiful scenery any which way you take.

Dublin is also a riot. Pubs everywhere, lot of history and plenty to keep you entertained/busy.

Anyone know how easy tickets will be to come across? My friend went in 2012 and said there were a lot of empty seats. I looked at the travel package and 3k/person seems crazy unnecessary but they include a game ticket

Hopefully they do a better job with distribution and don't give away too much to Anthony Travel. There was exceptionally high demand for tickets and hotel rooms, but not the "packages."

Figured you could answer this Lax since you're in the know... friend and I are talking about going but are afraid to fly to Europe without a ticket. We would like to try and do Airbnb to save money too. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Most likely, scalping a ticket outside the game will be expensive because there will be limited inventory relative to a typical domestic game. I don't know anyone who scalped outside the stadium in 2012.

Last time around, they did reserve some tickets for locals and that'd be your best bet of getting one on secondary market after arriving in Ireland. I didn't go in 2012, but I remember people remarking how it was "impossible" to get a ticket upfront... yet when they got there, there were a lot of empty seats... so there was an obvious distribution issue.

Worst case scenario, you probably still get a great trip and can watch the game in a pub somewhere if you go without a ticket and don't have luck scalping.

they went on general sale but i got my tickets through a promo code i had for being an active football player in the Irish league at the time. when they did go on sale it was for users with irish credit cards only and they sold out pretty quick

As an aside, to all of the Irish nationals on this board, if you can get the local release tickets and have the option to get any extra the IE family here will 100% takes those off your hands and I'd personally be willing to pay way above face. So get all you can, I know last time there was a set amount earmarked for Irish citizens like dublinirish referenced.

Also, FYI to everyone but last time around ND did not have control over a typical allotment of tickets and that made the traditional "lottery" setup at the time basically non-functional relative to the demand from ND fans.
