Richard Jewell.
Very good.
Not sure how accurate it was but watching it the same day I listened to Joe Rogan's podcast with the Wrongful convictions pair my blood was boiling at times. Particularly at the media vultures.

Idk honestly I got my hands on a Blu ray

Who is this Ray dude and why do you have your hands on him? Is that why he's blue? Is blue code for something? Not that there's anything wrong with that. You do you, bro.

I like having physical copies lol. I’ve bought digital before ‘forever’ only to try and use it down the road and,... nope. Just me.

Looks to be on Hulu.

I'm the same with movies and music. Find yourself some ripping software for your BRs. If I do buy the digital movies, I do it on Amazon. And with music, most physical copies on Amazon come with a digital download too.

I've been trying to catch up on a lot of old movies I haven't seen or haven't seen in so long that I forgot what happens.

Alien and Aliens. Both awesome movies. Ripley was such a bad ass. A much better female lead/hero than these shitty Mary Sues like Rey and Captain Marvel.

The Unforgiven, Dirty Harry, and the Good, Bad, and the Ugly. All really good movies, especially the Unforgiven. Wasn't sure I was going to like the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly but I really enjoyed it. Not sure I would have if Clint Eastwood wasn't in it.

Lawless, while not an old movie, was really good. I'm a big Tom Hardy fan and even Shia Lebouf was good. Love me some Jessica Chastain as well.

Taxi Driver. I can see why people say the Joker was heavily influenced by it. I liked it.

Any recommendations for some older movies to watch? Like 1970 to 1990 timeframe. I think I've seen most of the major movies after 90.

I started watching a lot of old westerns. If you liked the good the bad and the ugly. You might as well watch fistful of dollars, and a few dollars more.

Now that it's October I'm going to try and catch a bunch of the old classic horror movies

I'm a little surprised you haven't seen all those. Here's some. Tried to pick lesser known, but by your list, might throw in some more popular ones too. A lot are 90s though.

Leon: The Professional
Ghostdog
Memento
LA Confidential
Donnie Darko
American Beauty
Reservoir Dogs
Once upon a time in the West
The Usual Suspects
Seven
Heat
Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
Blade Runner
Jaws
Goodfellas
Pulp Fiction
Shawshank Redemption

I loved the trilogy, but also High Plains Drifter and Pale Rider were great too.

Once Upon a Time in America is the best mob movie imo, only watch it after the other big names

Jeremiah Johnson is a good but different Western

Can't remember the name of the big super violent spaghetti Western, I think it's called something like Silence

And if any of you have never seen The Straight Story, give it a shot. One of my top 20 of all time.

Cat People (1942)
Spider Baby - The Maddest Story Ever Told (1967) - this one was interesting. this movie spawned the crazy killer family/inbred cannibal types (House of a thousand corpses, Cabin in the woods, hills have eyes, etc.)
The Last Man on Earth (1964) - I Am Legend is a remake of this
Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)

That was a great late 70s early 80s flick, even with the budget.

Best low budget flick of that time period was The Evil Dead by far.

YJ gave you a pretty good list. I would add Maltese Falcon, Key Largo and Casablanca. All three Bogart movies. Maltese Falcon is my favorite movie of all time. Given they're older and in B&W, they're devoid of special effects and reply on acting chops.

watched Stephen King's IT last night. Might just be me but I am not sure why it is considered a good movie.

I just watched IT too recently. I liked it. The clown is creepy as hell. Typical King story.

Not just you. Typical King scary movie: Not good, not scary.

One of the great mysteries in history. . . why do his scary movies suck and his fiction movies rock? I will note, The Shining is a great movie because of Kubrick and not what I consider scary and Creepshow by Romero was great in a campy, HS sorta way.

Now, Stand By Me, The Green Mile & especially The Shawshank Redemption = good stuff.

I guess Misery should be thrown in with The Shining as good "scary" outliers.

He's just never done an Exorcist, Halloween or Alien.

I'm sure the books are better.

On Phatasm tho, the dialogue,... yikes. I made a bunch of college films and the dialogue exchanges reminded me of some of those. Not only was the dialogue bad but it was compounded by the terrible acting. It was an interesting film but the low budget aspect really stood out. I guess I wasn’t aware that was a think with that series.

King's never really gone for scary. His "scary" movies are more about being creepy, weird, and having some sort of strangeness factor... sort of a door into a strange, creepy, alternate universe opening and letting a bit of it poke its head into our world or letting us stick a toe over the line into its.

I read a number of his books,... they all either sucked or didn’t live up honestly. ‘It’ was good but had a terrible, almost book killing, resolution and the shinning is one of the only books where I considered the film better. Geralds Game, Atlantis and Night Shift are some other ones I tried off memory

I love Stephen King, but the weirder/more sci-fi/fantasy the better.

I love 'Eyes of the Dragon' as a pretty straight-forward medieval story, and 'The Stand' is great.

The Dark Tower series is epic, though I think the conclusion is kind of meh. The first four books are some of the best fantasy literature out there, IMO, and the fourth, "Wizard and Glass," is one of the best books I've ever read. It's one long massive flashback for the main character, where sci-fi/fantasy meets Old West. It's awesome.

I really enjoyed 'It,' and loved 'Under the Dome.'

'Under the Dome' reads like one long social experiment (because it is!), makes you suuuuuuuuuper pissed off at the bad guys, and has a very strange conclusion.

Perhaps my favorite, though, is '11/22/63.' That's just a really good book, and a great take on the 'alternate timeline' idea.

I have 11/63 but have not gotten to it,... It was by far my fav but the orgy thing was,.... ugh. It was really good aside from that. Shining was a big disappointment for me and I couldn’t even get through Gerald’s Game
