Strange Brew. I watched the later last night with my kid (who had never seen it). He’s taken to saying “take off eh” as often as possible.

Now that I think about it Hoosehead would be a killer IE user name.

One of the classics.

"There was nothing to do. All the bowling alleys had been wrecked. Sos I spent most of my time looking for beer."

Hosehead is one of he great pet names.

It's an incredible movie. Anton Chigurh is one of the scariest movie villains of all time.

It's hard to think of a scarier/creeper villain, unless you go to the sci-fi and horror genres.
So many f'd up scenes in that movie. Bardem was absolutely perfect for that role. Looking forward to seeing him as Stilgar in the new Dune. That whole cast is pretty awesome. Hope it doesn't suck.

It's so damn good. 13 is on par with it as well IMO. 12 isn't quite as good, but it's much better than everyone says who shit on it. I think people just didn't like it as much because it changed the formula so much.

The original Ocean's 11 is pretty good.

Watched "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" over the weekend. Not bad, had its moments, but not one of Tarantino's best efforts which disappointed me given its cast.

Interesting! It's one of my favorites after two views.

It's a slow burn in the middle, but in a very good way imo, especially with the way things build to the last 30 minutes.

I thought the friendship dynamic between the main characters was some of Tarantino's best writing, and DiCaprio absolutely owned his role. The scene where he's having a breakdown in his trailer might be one of my favorite movie scenes, period.

Cliff Booth vs Bruce Lee is worth .5 stars alone, and Timothy Olyphant being involved is worth another .5. That's an automatic one-star upgrade right off the bat for me lol.

That might have been the best scene in the movie. The ending was really good as well, especially Pitt following his finger around. Back in the days when it was popular people would say they saw "tracers" when using acid. Like when you wave a sparkler around real fast. The middle is why I don't rate it as great. The "going to Italy" portion could have been stripped out without missing a beat.

Absolutely. I loved how he wrote it as just a great friendship between two guys. There was no bullshit conflict in the middle where they are fighting over a woman or have some contrived fallout. They're best buds and they have each others backs throughout.

I watched Dune (1984) earlier this week. I'd seen it years ago, but forgot how odd it was. Great cast, but the special effects are often horrible, and the acting was sometimes ridiculous, especially given how good the cast was. Weird and campy is the best I can say about it. I'm really not sure if they were going for a campy, tongue-in-cheek approach, or if the script and acting were just that bad.

My SiL owns this obscenely long directors cut of it and she thinks it’s the freaking Godfather,... it literally felt like torture having to sit through it years back. I was genuinely upset afterwards.

No, it's bad on several fronts. The script was disjointed and full of bad, corny dialog. The special effects were occasionally great, but often amateurish and the sound editing and overdubs were bloody awful. The story and cast deserved better. It was so bad that the director fought to have his name removed from the credits. The best part of the movie is where a still attractive 22-year-old fat-lipped Virginia Madsen delivers a closeup intro. It's all downhill after that.

I think Lynch only disavowed the TV version, not the original theatrical version. Did you know Lynch turned down Return of the Jedi to do Dune?

I enjoyed the original release. I think a good portion of what you don't like is just "Lynch" lol.. Special effect were pretty awful in parts.

They are making a another Dune, again with an incredible cast.

I was talking more about the whole removing his name thingy. He absolutely talked about the many lessons learned. Money ran out (special effects) and a lot of things started going off the track. IIRC he was pissed about editing as well.

I enjoy Lynch's Dune the same way I enjoy Beastmaster, Conan, or Krull: as a campy 80s sci-fi/fantasy. Keep your expectations low and it's fun.

I enjoy Dune because Sting put Johnny Rotten and Billy Idol in a blender, turned it on high and became the mix.

Dune is like fifteen expectation rungs below the others mentioned on the expectation ladder,...

Just saw Rise of Skywalker,... geez,... this trilogy was the exact opposite of the prequels. Episode 1-3 were terribly acted at times, had bad special effects that aged terribly but had generally good (enough) stories. These films were better casted, had better cinematography but the story telling was fucking awful. On whole the three just had such a strong, ‘make it up as we go, it Star Wars, it’ll make money,... whatever’ lazy feel to them ,... I’ll basically ignore these three for the rest of my life. Don’t think I’ll watch another again, certainly not by choice.

At least Wedge made a two second cameo without dying in the next scene,... that was cool I guess.

Honest question, is Solo worth watching??? RealStarwars v ThisBullshit,... which is it more??

Sometimes I like to live a little reckless on the weekends and stay up until 12:00 - 12:30.
