Watched Cannonball Run 2. Had a chat with my brother and we realized that the late 70’s and early 80’s was the golden age of real primates having significant roles in film and television.

I’m pretty sure Any Which Way But Loose kicked it all off. We decided that is was all the blow that was available as to the why so many of these movies got the green light. I mean BJ and the Bear? What was that?

I think SAG put the kibosh on the whole thing when they saw how talented they were. I mean try to imagine how much better Star Wars episodes 1-3 would have been with an orangutan that flipped everyone the bird!

We stayed up and watched Tiger King from start to finish last night. I thought it was good but not as great as others have shared.

Everyone in the story is a villain. They'll paint the picture that each player is a good person and slowly but surely the dirt starts coming out on each one. Even the lady running the "rescue" is accused of killing her former husband. The only characters you could really root for either had no legs or was missing half an arm.

Crazy/shady business indeed. There is no way in hell I'm getting in a cage with any of those cats. I don't care how "trained" they are. Shaq seemed to enjoy himself though.

Hopefully, there is a follow up series as I'm interested to see what happens with the others...

Yes on the bolded.

I especially appreciate 'Fellowship' over the other two films in the trilogy. That's not an opinion most share lol.

'Inception' was probably the most blown-away I've ever been by a movie's plot the first time I watched it. Just an unbelievable idea and execution.

'Oceans 11' might be the most rewatchable movie of all time.

I love 'Hateful 8' and 'Reservoir Dogs'... but I'd give my top two Tarantino spots to 'Inglorious Basterds' and 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.' I'm a sucker for Tarantino's alternate realities.

I missed the beginning of the convo when I responded to Gattaca lol.

If I had to watch only 5 movies over-and-over:

1. Inglorious Basterds
2. The Godfather II
3. Oceans 11
4. Iron Man
5. Pulp Fiction

'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' is better than 'Pulp Fiction' to me, but I think 'Pulp Fiction' has greater rewatchability because of the episodic nature of the film.

Why The Godfather II and not the original? GF I is probably my favorite flick of all time.

Robert De Niro as young Vito Corleone is a better story, to me, than Michael's story in the first film.

I recognize that the first movie is one of the GOATs, but watching the Don's origin story entertains me more, even with the modern-day parts being kind of a slog.

(this is also why HBO's 'Godfather Epic' cut, where the saga is presented in entirely chronological format, is the best way to watch)

There are both epic,...

Wife put in Outbreak last night ( Netflix is highlighting it lol) geez what a terrible movie,... if they would have just focused on the search for a cure rather than the military hunting down Hoffman trying to kill him for it then it may have been salvageable.

Sometimes when I'm moody, I'll put on Steel Magnolias too.

When I'm on my period, I love the Notebook, and when it's really bad, I binge the Twilight Saga. #TeamJacob

I should have added No Country. So good in just so many ways.

Another movie I forgot to consider is Hell or Highwater.

Yup, put me down for the Epic Cut. Used to have it on VHS lol when they first did it.

I thought No Country was hugely overrated. It's been years since I've seen it and only that one time. Should I revisit? Or are you folks blowing smoke...

I'm not sure it's top 5 or top 10, but it's definitely a fantastic movie that ages well. Great characters/actors.

You say that about every movie though.

Nah. I'm pretty picky to be honest. Many of the movies folks are listing I'm like WTF, just not calling'em out. Everyone has their own tastes. No Country is one of those movies I can sit down an re-watch once a year and never get tired of. Might not be top 10 (for me), but what I consider tier 1.

There are plenty of movies though that aren't that good lol, that I can watch over and over again, not because they're great, but because something about them clicks for me. For example the Denzel remake of Man on Fire. Absolutely love that movie but RT hates it....

To this day I don't like any SEC school or the affiliation of anybody that tries to manipulate the way the South has always been.
This Is a great movie that explains some of my resolve...

Lol. Nah.

I did forget Beer Fest, LA Confidential and Strange Brew. I watched the later last night with my kid (who had never seen it). He’s taken to saying “take off eh” as often as possible.

Now that I think about it Hoosehead would be a killer IE user name.

Beer Fest, Hot Dogs & Yellowbeard.

The 3 most overlooked and underrated comedies of all time.

It's so damn good. 13 is on par with it as well IMO. 12 isn't quite as good, but it's much better than everyone says who shit on it. I think people just didn't like it as much because it changed the formula so much.

It's an incredible movie. Anton Chigurh is one of the scariest movie villains of all time.
