I met Andy Dalton today and got a picture with him. Very nice guy. Told him I hope he wins every game besides the one against the Giants and he laughed and said he has a buddy on the Giants.

Got me thinking about who is the most famous person I have met.

The criteria for this thread is you must have either:

(1) Spoke to the person (and they acknowledged you);
(2) Shook their hand; or
(3) Taken a picture of or with them in close proximity with their knowledge (You must either be in the picture or they must be smiling at you taking the picture)

The following situations do not count:

(A) Seeing someone in concert, playing sports, or speaking at an event you attended (i.e. your commencement speaker)
(B) Walking by someone without any sort of physical or verbal contact.
(C) Being in the same place with the person (i.e. a conference, hotel lobby, airplane).

My personal list is a toss up between Willie Mays, Joe Montana, and John McCain.

Feel free to post pictures!

Met the Admiral at the Morris Inn. You don't really understand how massive of a human being he is until you see him in person haha

Maybe Father Hesburgh. Also met a few senators, but not the bigger names.

Barack Obama would have to be tops, shook his hand at a speech in 08. Next as far as being famous might be Ice T who I ran into when they were filming SVU. Just shook Bernie Sanders hand the other day. The coolest interaction I have had would probably be with Talib Kweli who I spoke to and shared an elevator with. Michael Eric Dyson was also pretty cool but not as well known. Once ran into Walter Cronkite. Thats about it. The coolest thing like this that happened to me was being given a private tour of VP George HW Bush air Force Two by Secret Service but I was too young to really remember.

Edit: Also Fr. Hesburgh was very cool when one of my classes met with him in his office.

Jimmy asking out Miley is pretty damn cool.

I met Mitt Romney three years ago. Highly Mormon. He reported that Bill Clinton told him if one of three things had not happened he would have won ("47%," Hurricane, economic improvement).

In sports Jason Kidd. I have also met Reggie Fowler who was at one time a minority owner of the Vikings.

ETA: I also met Willie Mays once but he wasn't the nicest.

Had a beer with Mark Cuban in Indy after a Pacers game. He walked into Kilroys and started buying drinks. Real laid back guy.

It's a tie for me between Brett Michaels and Toby Keith.

Brett Michaels stopped me and a few friends to ask if we had seen a "blonde with huge boobs" walk through. He then chatted with us for a few minutes and asked how work was going before thanking us, which is rare when we see the artists back stage.

At another show, me and some guys were laying out, straightening, and taping down a big carpet on stage. A roadie was directing us on straightening it, but someone was behind him standing on the carpet, keeping us from moving it. He shouts "get the hell off my carpet before I throw you off my stage!" before turning to see Toby Keith standing there smiling at him. His face went white and he went silent before slowly turning to work on something else. Toby Keith turned to me and a friend and says, "Maybe I should fire him."

Based on the guy's reaction when he realized who he yelled at, I'm thinking Toby Keith might have actually been thinking about firing him.

Shaq and Dominic Rhodes come to mind first. Shaq I met while filming Blue Chips and Dominic helped me get into a bar in Indy once.

Idk if anyone has done the 6 degrees of separation, but I apparently have a ton of connections to famous people within just one or two people I know. Didn't realize it until I started making a list:

-Adam Driver (two steps)
-Channing Tatum (three steps)
-Justin Timberlake (three steps)
-Jessica Biel (three steps)
-Sean Astin (two steps)
-Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus (two steps)
-Jennifer Lawrence (two steps)
-Justin Beiber (two steps)
-Selena Gomez (two steps)
-Tommy Lee (three steps)
-Lindsay Lohan (two steps)
-Gordon Hayward (two steps)
-Patrick Rodgers PGA golfer (two steps)

Notables seen at airports or other places but didn't get a chance to talk to:

-Matt Damon (airport)
-Jay Z (Rodeo Dr intersection. He was in his Bentley and I was standing at the cross walk.)

Carrie Underwood. She came to a hotel I was working at about 10 years ago at 3am after a show. Greeted me and smiled.

I had a key to her room.

Sat behind Theo Epstein on a jet from Indy to Boston about 6 or 7 years ago. It was the year the winter meetings were in Indy. As a Red Sox fan it was probably one of the coolest moments...I had direct view of his laptop and saw where he had all free agents ranked.

I actually went to Urbans house once when I was a kid and he was still coaching. His wife was an instructor at the gym my family went to and would invite people over for cookouts. His family was great but he was an ass hat.

In San Diego I met Snoop Dog briefly, we talked Celtic FC soccer for what felt like a few minutes but for what in reality was probably all of ten seconds, if that.

The same night I meet and kind of hung out with Jack Osborne. Seemed like a down to earth guy that particular night, I was far from the only 'regular guy' that had access to him.

In Vegas over the years I have met and spoken with to both Evander Hollyfield and Dave Attell ( I was filmed for his show but didn't make the cut for the airing of the Vegas episode) .

At Angel stadium I have met numerous Angels and players from other teams, most in depth has been: Arte Moreno, Roger Lodge, Tim Salmon, Kelvim Escobar, most other encounters have just been autograph type thing or a smile and a wave, the above I actually spoke to for a bit.

I was at Fort Wayne mall once and got kicked out of the Foot Locker for freaking Ja Rule and his posse...they closed the front gate and everything...weak as hell.

Jim Harbaugh once came to my HS football practice to give a speech. Was pretty cool then when he was Captain Comeback.

Met David Ortiz in the Miami airport...that's a big dude.

Shook Mike Golic and Peyton Manning's hands at a Colts event once...Mike was the featured speaker and Adam Venatieri sat at our table (had some fat hardware on his hand).

Shot hoops at Larry Bird's house once.

I worked at Planet Hollywood downtown Indy bussing tables in High School...wouldn't say I necessarily met but saw David Spade, Reggie Miller, Brooke Shields and Andre Aggisee were probably the most famous. All kinds of Colts, Pacers or visiting players. Had to once stand bodyguard in front of Detlef Schrempf as his family at dinner.

I used to manage a sports store in Cincinnati. I sold a lot of shoes to athletes and their families - some of the best encounters:

Anthony Munoz used to bring his kids in all the time. Great guy and great family.

Barry and Byron Larkin used to come in a lot. They were both always very nice and easy to talk to. I did like Byron better, but Barry was always pleasant enough.

Jeff Blake was awesome. One of the nicest guys I ever met. I used to always have to put a pair of the new Jordans on hold for him and he would come in before the store opened on release day to buy them(athlete privilege). I saw several Bengals games because he would leave tickets at the will call window for me to thank me.

The Final Four team from Cincinnati Bearcats. Nik Van Exel was great. Kenyon Martin was not.

I worked for Sentaor Rob Portman's brother's company and Rob would be around quite a bit. Good guy. way different in private than in public. Very quiet and low key.

Flew from Birmingham to Atlanta one time and the entire first class was me and Molly Hatchet. It was a 6:00 AM flight and they had played at the fairgrounds... They hadn't been to bed yet... And they were still drinking... It was nuts...

<------------------ Lou Holtz. Met him on deployment, had him sign my PC and chatted him up about his career at Arkansas and Notre Dame, so he slipped me a coin.

Met Bill Clinton when he was running for President, he was governor at the time and did a speaking tour of small Arkansas towns and got to shake his hand and introduce myself.

Also see and speak to Cortez Kennedy around town, in his early playing days he did a football clinic every summer and I got to meet tons of pros he brought in to conduct the clinic including Derrick Thomas, Tim Brown, and DAN MCGWIRE! The last one not as big a deal perhaps. We knew the family so before the pros arrived I would give his mom a stack of my football cards and she would get as many signed for me as possible. That's probably why I still collect football cards and memorabilia so much today.

I get to meet a lot of people who would be considered famous.
Got to spend a lot of time with William Hurt.
However, the best time is when I had dinner with 6 guys from the Blackhawks last year. I have a close friend who is a well known actor and a bunch of NHL guys love his work. I can't tell you how cool and down to earth Kane and Andrew Shaw are. I am lucky to hang with Bob Baffert every week.
