Coaches should answer to the school admin. In some cases much more than they currently do.

Didn’t ND just axe an offensive coordinator in large part because a bunch of players would have left the program had he not been canned?

The admins hires them and is their boss so yes the should answer to them but the players Ummm NO! Your are the player on your free scholarship, in your free room-and your free health care oh and not mention pretty much your free wardrobe. That’s bs.

It did, and it simultaneously squashed a revolt AND offensive recruiting!

Fair enough. One America however, leaves everyone else in the dust. Again, closer to Info Wars levels of stupidity.

Anyhow, looks like captain mullet and Chubba are figuring it out. Good for them and good for Chubba for calling him out on this.

I think he needs to be sent to a re education camp. You just can't have people watching a news channel and wearing their shirt on a fishing trip.

I see MSNBC as being completely off the rails too. It's far beyond bias. CNN and Fox are both equal amounts of crazy to me, but MSNBC is full on cuckoo. All I know is I'd love to remove all cuckoo from my news and sports. I watch all of it just to see what they're saying, but read Reuters most often to get true "news". There really is no middle national TV news. It's hard to watch ESPN programs anymore too.

Yeah, Reuters is the go to for me. They just report the facts, like journalists used to do.

So now we tell people what they can wear? OAN may be right leaning, but they are protected under the 2nd amendment. Do they publish articles promoting racism, looting and burning businesses?

Calling him out lol. For what?! My God these kids have been conditioned for decades. Based on some people's reactions you'd think Gundy wore a white hood to practice or a tshirt with a swastika.

The situation at Iowa was real and those players who came out had a legit beef. This is a joke. Gundy didn't treat anyone poorly as far as we know, and didn't say or do anything that was racist or insensitive.

You guys really think this is about a t-shirt? You don't think this is a build up of Gundy being an idiot?

Why not protest whatever offensive thing he's done before he wore the t-shirt? Why now? "Players voice support for Hubbard". I am curious if they will decide to sit out or play. If they play, isn't that an indication that they don't really support him?

wearing that shirt at this time is just a trash move. no idea why a coach who relies on black players would do something so crass. Can you imagine if BK did that??

I don't know much about OAN (we don't have it here in GA on Comcast), but sounds like it's as right as MSNBC is left....

I have a CNN shirt that I wear for yard work though. Hope nobody see me in it.

I'm sure they would have reacted the same if it were a Fox shirt....

This.

Does nobody else wear crappy T-shirts when they do things like fishing, crabbing, hunting, etc. I specifically keep certain items for such occasions. The whole point is I don't want to get a t-shirt, I like, ruined. I have a Bears T-shirt I wear crabbing. I'm not a Bears fan (no issues if you are) but I wear it because if it gets dirty, I don't care. I have all sorts of bizarre T-shirts that I get for gag gifts and what not that I'll also wear. Not every T-shirt I wear is me professing my political and/or social beliefs.

I bet if he had worn a CNN or MSNBC t-shirt no one would have blinked an eye. People talk about having an uncomfortable discussion, but when it's uncomfortable to them that's a different story.

I think it's because OAN pushes a "BLM is a terrorist movement" which is pretty inflammatory to a sport with a high % of AA.

if you think OAN is comparable in any way to CNN or MSNBC then simply you aren't listening

Do you know beyond a shadow of doubt that he's wearing that T-shirt because he believes or supports the same? Do you know for a fact that everyone that watches the channel also does? I watch MSNBC to see what they're talking about. If my wife got me an MSNBC T-shirt, I'd probably wear it the next time I go crabbing, does that mean that I believe in every opinion that MSNBC has? Should the world be so shortsighted to believe that I am nothing more than a T-shirt and a TV show?

I guess I'm just really sick of this group think that says if you do this, you must be this. Kind of sounds like exactly what's wrong with the world, right now.

I played for different staffs and different coaches in my life, and almost all of them criticized players for clothing, fashion, hairstyle, whatever. It happens daily in a locker room. You've got about a hundred 18-22 year old guys and most are dressed like morons - plenty of material for the staff. Some coaches were clowns that liked to hassle us and others were more serious and pushed us to mature, both in our behavior and appearance. Sometimes an adult in the room has to explain why frosted tips is an unbecoming look on a grown man.

We were always told we'd be sent back to (insert joke about hometown) by coaches too. This is common as far as I know.

So he'd just wear an OAN network t-shirt haphazardly right in the middle of the BLM movement at its peak? Then allow himself be photographed in it? All coincidence?? I think not.

That's not the the issue. I was a long haired kid in HS and college and my coaches harped on me all the time about it. However...

Wide receiver LC Greenwood, who entered the NCAA transfer portal in January, wrote in a since-deleted post on Twitter that Gundy would call him a "hood rat" and "thug" and threaten him over his clothing choices. Others backed the claim and added stories of their own.

For everyone thinking Gundy was just wearing a shirt that was given to him as a gift...

Just because the coaches are older and, “the coaches”, does not mean that they are automatically worthy of respect, and should not be in some ways accountable to their players. Let’s be honest many of these coaches are a step away from snake oil salesman. Many of them would be perfectly willing to abandon all ethics to land a particular kid or get a win. Good leaders are and should be accountable to their charges. Further, if there is a void of leadership or maturity someone has to step in and assume that role or the whole enterprise tumbles. Just being “the coach” does not make one unencumbered by these principles, or the consequences of failing to uphold them from either side of the chain of command, administration or team.

The inmates are trying to get control of the asylum.

I haven't commented in a long, long time and have been a member and reader here for over 10 years but I cannot be silent when racist things get posted on this board. Calling a group of predominantly black young men "inmates" is not ok anymore. I'm old, I know it's a saying, but I also know that we are capable of thinking about what we write and say before doing it and not writing and/or saying it if it could be easily read as offensive to a group of people. I'm not saying you can't say it, I'm saying you shouldn't say it. It's not being politically correct, it's being responsible for one's actions and being considerate of other people's feelings in the context of their experiences.

To compare CNN, MSNBC, or other news stations to OAN is also irresponsible and unresearched. They also characterized the elderly man from Buffalo who is catholic and a peace activist - which is kinda what any catholic should be based on the actual words in the new testament - as an antifa terrorist. Not saying they also don't have the right to lie but again, Gundy is an adult and it is a privilege to hold his job and he should be held accountable for supporting such organizations. I am a physician and I would not bat an eye if I was disciplined or talked to by my supervisors for being seen around town working out in such a t-shirt.

Yeah this is nuts,... project a bunch of ‘five degrees of I claim racism’ on anyone with a different perspective and then try to destroy them. That’s where we are at now, everyone is convinced of their own moral superiority. I have a ton of family that watches OAN, including African Americans, in fact now that I think on it, almost ALL of them are some form of minorities. I honestly have watched like five minutes so I can’t comment beyond that but give me a break. When my father was getting his health care pulled by the Obama admin, which ultimately killed him, while anyone who opposed Obama care was called literally everything on MSNBC except a child of God I wouldn’t have been able to cause a stink if some supervisor wore a MSNBC shirt or posted their like for the network, and no it’s not really different. If you’re bent out of shape at a news network attacking people unjustly along political lines and pretend like that validated stuff like this,... then no, they’re all pretty freakin guilty. They’re pretty much all super partisan, smear the other side, mischaracterize those they oppose along political lines, and bend facts,.... Whatever,...

Honest question as I’ve never watched OAN. If Gundy was wearing a FOX News shirt would that be racist too?

You've gotta be kidding me. It's an old saying about what it would be like if the patients at a mental institution were running it instead of the medical staff. Do you understand that inmates in this case refers to the patients at a mental institution, not the inmates at a prison????????? Never crossed my mind to insinuate the athletes at OSU were criminals or inmates at a penal institution. This is a perfect example of having delicate feelings and looking for a way to misinterpret something so you can be offended.

No it’s a perfect example of my first sentence above,... disagree with someone? Don’t address them point for point like an adult and try to find common ground, instead find ANY way you can either paint or guilt them with cries of racism,... it’s lazy.

Never watched MSNBC but used to watch CNN a lot. But over the past 5 or so years they are just terrible. So biased against anything conservative. I have been going to youtube more now for news and twitter.
