My guess is Leah was part of the deal with A&M meaning they were either going to overpay for him too, or Elko wouldn't go without Leah's blessing.

Promoting Lea to coordinator is a bit different from hiring a HC who hasn't coached at the top level in CFB.

He's been Elko's right hand for 4+ years, he knows the system, and he's seen how Elko runs the defense... give him a shot and see if the system remains effective. If not, reset next year and fork over the money to make a big splash.

I have a feeling this is what is going to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if the bullet points of the contract details aren't being worked out as we whine.

realistically now to get a quality DC ND is gonna have to pay more than they would have to retain Elko which is probably the most depressing part of it all..
