What a joke that BK came out and made the statement he did just to lose him. And a bigger joke that ND didn't but a huge buyout in the contract they gave him.

We are absolutely screwed now. With that being said, it's completely unreasonable to expect us to pay $2mil for a coordinator. That's absurdly above market value for even the best.

Damage control, (forget this part), find the next Elko.

Edit: Forgot that everybody has signed. Goodbye Brian Williams.

This is total BS for the players who just signed.

I have zero hopes for 2018 now.

Damage control, make sure all the recruits are solid, find the next Elko.

There is no "next Elko". That's why aTm threw $2m at him. Big ups to Swarbrick for f*cking up his contract and failing to match the Aggie's offer.

Scratch the "most successful season since 1993" optimism.

Absurd - finally get one part of our coaching staff totally ironed out only to get bought out from under us...

Michigan got Don Brown in 2016, ND got Elko last year. Somebody will be a good hire, Irish just need to find him.

Seriously. Time to clean house, and I don't mean Brian Kelly. How do you not have a reciprocal buyout in there of $3mil for the remaining two years? How do you let someone go to lateral move?

Would be nice to get some salary caps. This exponential growth in coaching salaries isn't good for anybody and helps fuel the short leashes we put coaches on.

Allowing a program like aTm to hire our most crucial assistant out from under us is a new low for NDFB.

I mean these guys are probably going to ask out of the LOIs now and I don't blame them. And ND is probably going to oblige them.

Swarbrick should be fired.

If true, this is on Swarbrick. At this point, i wouldn't blame Kelly if he retired tomorrow.

But it's not unreasonable. We have the money. ND has more challenges that other schools, and should pay more because of those challenges.

What are you supposed to do? I suppose you could make the argument that we can pay whatever it takes, but it feels wrong to be paying so much. How many scholarships would Weis' contract have bought us?

I agree. If this was solely about money, Swarbrick just torpedoed the program.

Well T&M threw a boat at LSU's coordinator and he stayed. Im sure they threw the same boat at Elko and he bit.

ND and BK are a bunch of friggin idiots. Im sure neither would match their absurd offer

Way to go guys

If there's any silver lining here, this could be the impetus to properly clean house.

But knowing the people in charge, it probably won't. Just fuck my shit up. This program can't sustain any positive momentum with the idiots currently in charge.

Unbelievable. I don't care if its over-market. ND football being successful is worth far more than 2 million.

It is increasingly clear that some programs are willing to "play for keeps" and go all in... and Notre Dame is not.

LSU has zero money... in fact, they have crushing debt right now... and they swung $2.5mil/year and $10 million for a coordinator to prevent this from happening.

ND has a gigantic endowment and isn't willing to dip into the billions they have to prevent the same thing from happening... and moreover, Swarbrick is too dumb to write a contract that has a large enough reciprocal buyout that it makes it prohibitive for someone to leave.
