Actually in his interview with Joe Klatt Cowherd admits that as the game went on he realized Notre Dame had the better players.

Stop it. Proof or that never happened. Honestly that is saying a lot because Michigan has a ton dudes and talent. Especially all over the defense and WR. They don’t have better players on two of the most important parts of a team OL and QB.

I actually think they would have, too. Not that ND didn't play better, but that drive had "break my heart" all over it to tie it up, steal all the momentum heading into OT, and then fully break my heart. I think if he hadn't fumbled, Michigan would have won. But we'll never know, because he did, and that's that.

I did not feel this way at all. When the last drive for Michigan started I was 99% sure the ND defense would get a turnover. Michigan offense line couldn’t handle the pressure from ND dline and linebackers all night and I knew Patterson would make a mistake due to the pressure.

I completely forgot that Howard won a Super Bowl and was MVP of that Super Bowl...with the Packers.

And here I thought I couldn't hate the guy anymore than I already did.

It would be insane for Michigan to eat $40 million or whatever to punt on a guy averaging 9+ wins per season.

As long as he loses to ND next year, along with continuously losing to "little brother" (MSU) and doesn't win the B1G, plus doesn't make the CFB Playoffs. That really pisses them off! :)

I think our dbs proved they were head and shoulders better than Michigan's at least on that night. Our lb's and dl proved they were on the same level as Michigan's.

Would you feel the same way if Kelly had one win against SC, UM, and Navy combined throughout his entire tenure?

Yeah. I think if you're winning 9 games consistently it's better to tweak things and see where that gets you; not take a hard reset on your coaching staff.

I felt the same way. Michigan was literally incapable of running a two minute offense against the Irish. Patterson was running for his life on three step drops and spent the whole game avoiding ND's corners.

Not if he can't beat good teams. Michigan doesn't see itself as a "third place in the Big Ten East" kind of program. But that's what they are these days. And they've got plenty of money.

For a couple series in the 2nd half, 4th quarter especially, ND looked to employ that same defense used against MSU last year.

"Oh you want to hit a 4 yard hitch in bounds down 14, and then huddle up? Sure, we'll make the tackle." Wasn't that first drive of the 4th, where Michigan had a TOD something like 7 minutes of nothing? They covered 52 yards without any sense of urgency. Less than 4 yards a play, and most were with the clock just ticking away. It was glorious.

Defensive analysis there was great. Notre Dame can run such things because we have high-motor athletes with enough speed+power to do it. (Thank you great recruiting staff!!!)

It also helps to have smart guys. (Thank you, Notre Dame!!!)

Clark Lea seems to be a very smart guy who is ready to allow his hoard of smart guys designed "free rein" to rain havoc this season. This should be a very fun ride watching our warriors maul on both sides of the ball.

Is anyone else curious how Dex would have done against that front 7?

I believe we would have had at least a couple more first downs, greatly reducing UMs time of possession.

"Rodriguez lost to their rivals by an avg of 16 points
Hoke lost to their rivals by an avg of 12 points
Harbaugh lost to their rivals by an avg of 9 points"

Jimmy has them trending in the right direction.

"This odd decision leaves Jerry Tillery (red arrow) unblocked. That seems like a bad idea."

That made me laugh.

Yup, that was a mistake. That’s Jerry Tillery (red arrow) knocking the ball (yellow circle) out of the quarterback’s hand as the rest of the defensive line closes in like hungry bears on a bloated moose carcass. Game over, the Irish win.

Please don't feed the troll. He says these things to make people watch him eat crow the next week.

The only appropriate reaction to a shock jock like Cowherd is complete and total apathy. Anything else is a win for him.

Dude, this is insane...I literally never thought I'd see the day that Cowherd had anything positive to say about Notre Dame, more less several strong compliments in a row. We must really be putting a good product out there. I lived in Indy during the 2012 Championship run, and of course I was all-in, and I called into The Herd during one of his ND bashing sessions and actually got on the air, and it was to no avail, he wasn't having it. To me, on this day a great victory was had.

I've never remembered less of a football game than this game. Rewatching the game would be too much for me to handle. I can't even watch highlights, and, honestly, I don't remember the second half, other than the defense solidifying the win. But getting the W is huge. Although I don't believe in Kelly, or Wimbush, I do believe this is the year. Go Irish!
