Dunlap still a possibility to re-join the class as well I think.

FWIW the 4 prospects that seem likely to be joining the ‘23 class would make this the #19 class. Pretty remarkable considering a few days ago we were looking at a class with just Burton ranked 73rd
Given the climate of NCAA sports today and with only needing 1 or 2 top guys for BB a program can be turned around in just a year or two IMO.

From Monday's Rakes Report, pertaining to the Shrewsberry hire (the last bit made me laugh):

"The one potential knock on Shrewsberry is that he’s only been a Division I head coach for two years, and while I think it’s reasonable to be concerned about such a short track record, he checks pretty much every other box. Brad Stevens will gush about him to anyone who asks and it’s not like the experience at IUSB isn’t helpful – at some point, coaching basketball is coaching basketball. He also spent time at Purdue under Matt Painter, meaning he knows exactly what not to do to get repeatedly eliminated by double-digit seeds come March."

Seriously, if you guys aren't already on this email distribution, you're' missing out. This guy writes some really quality stuff, with a tasteful sprinkle of humor (90% about football).

Looks like Grady Eifert (Tyler's brother, former Purdue forward) will be coming with Shrews. He's at the introductory press conference, and was the PSU video coordinator the last two years.

Realistically, what does he need to add through the portal to have a competent team? At least one big man, what else?

He mentions his son will be playing at ND. Not in those exact words but his son will be a freshman at ND.
Yeah he said his boy will be "putting up 3's here" or something close to that, as if he meant he would be enrolled and playing at ND.

Did anyone cover the presser? Did he say anything of note?
Very solid presser . . . Micah seems like a quality person. I picked up that he really seems to be an ND guy, not necessarily in being an alumni, but in his regard and love for the school. Formerly coached at IUSB in town, so a "homecoming of sorts." In fact a key reason for his coming was to "be closer to family" in the area.

I will say it was a bit of a "borefest" as far as engagement. They need to work on making these a little more festive and with more energy. Having a presser in Purcell Pavilion with maybe 200 people in attendance felt anticlimactic, or the wrong "stage" even though it made sense philosophically.

He seems to have a solid network of coaches to call upon to process on a regular basis (daily/weekly) such as Brad Stevens of the Celtics and Matt Painter of Purdue. Yet, he seems confident in "being his own person" and having his philosophy well ironed out.

Very likable guy, said all of the right things. Hopefully it all translates to the court and wins.

I'd prioritize getting 1 stud at the 1-3 and then a stud 5. Lubin can command the 4 and Zona should be able to play some minutes too as a big, but he's not a 5. Looking ahead, you already have Burton and Shrewsberry coming in as guards and likely Imes, plus possibly Dunlap as a 3. All young, but will have to play minutes.

To be clear, not saying they need to stop at 1 transfer for the 1-3 and 1 for the 5. That's just the starting point to field a competent team, IMO.

North Dakota State has an excellent 6'11" guy considering his optionShrewsbury! Good handles, good moves, pretty good shooter. Speculation is the NBA will encourage him to go play his last year at a P6 against better competition. Go get him Shrewsberry!

so looks like right now 5 scholarships used with Ryan gone...8 to give right? So if Shrewsberry can resign the 2 ND 23 recruits who had left and brings the 3 Penn State recruits...3 more spots, get at least 1 Big

Prister mentioned Kebba Njie as a maybe. Averaged 3.5 points and 3.5 boards as a true freshman this year.

Really excited for Shrews. Definitely expecting a rough 2023-24 season, but I think the future is bright.
I am also really excited for Shrews as well, ND got a homerun hire with him. He's made an impact on recruiting and I don't know how the ACC looks this year, but I'd like to see ND surprise people and pop some teams.

He's taken a dumpster fire roster and managed to get some dudes who have experience and some promising young talent. It will be really interesting to see how these guys gel together in a new system and so many new faces who haven't played together.

Regardless of their record this szn, it's going to be a fun experiment to watch unfold. Really just want to see the guys playing better in February/March than November/December, which was not the case last year under Brey.
