Age is not going to be a factor at all in my opinion. Floyd's style, shell defense and counterpunching, is one that is sustainable. He is ridiculously energy efficient. Not to mention his conditioning will be elite as always. This isn't Roy Jones at 40, a guy who took tons of punishment. Floyd basically went his whole career without getting hit. If anyone needs to worry about stamina, it's McGregor. He has burned out a few times in the octagon.

just once in the first bout with Diaz when he was fighting above his normal weights.

I heard that the contract may have a stipulation that McGregor's pursue will get reduced if he ends up trying any MMA tactics.

John Kavanagh (Conor's coach) has said that he expects him to fight in the UFC in December aswell.

No. Sorry but you just wasted your time. Boxers have ZEEEEEEEEERO defense against being taken down. They NEVER have trained to hit a guy who is shooting low... a guy who has trained for years to do such a move.

It ends the same way every time. If Connor was feeling frisky and didn't want to choke him out, he could do the world a favor and put him in an arm bar and rip every ligament out of his elbow so he would definitely retire.

You're dancing around my comment like Floyd dances around the ring. You can't shoot my hip if I deliver the first punch. But I'll play along - a boxer isn't defenseless in the event someone shoots low to take them down, and you're kidding yourself to believe they're not trained to hit a low target. They are trained to hit targets that are high, low or in between and have incredibly quick feet/hips so they can position themselves in an instant to deliver a punch. So if a shot is taken before I throw the first punch, maybe you take me down and pound me. But maybe I slip and deliver a shot to your head. You won't know b/c your eyes will be on the floor and not on my hands. Taking your eyes off a boxers hands isn't the best advice I'd give someone.

It is a dumb argument.

Floyd wins a street fight if he gets to throw the first punch.

Conor wins if it goes to the ground.

Pretty simple lol

I didn't know we are talking street fight in here? If there's a street fight, Conor would absolute tear him apart. He's a much bigger man and is going to move in ways Floyd will not recognize because hes only a boxer. Also, its common knowledge Floyds hands are broken and damaged from all of his fights. Floyd bare knuckle punch to Conor isnt going to do shit.

Floyd, although a great boxer no doubt, is boring to watch. Anyone remember Roy Jones Jr. knocking someone the f- out in his prime?!?! That is what the average fan wants to see.

If they fought 100 times I think Connor wins 1 boxing match out of pure dumb luck. I think Mayweather wins 0 MMA fights. I'd be impressed if he lasted 1 minute.

Would it be illegal if Connor feigned a kick? Like if he clearly doesn't attempt to follow through but just raises like he's going for a high kick? Just to get Floyd out of position?

People who are trying to turn this into an MMA vs Boxing thread need to get out. This is a boxing match. We get it, you don't like Floyd and you don't like the fact that the pride of your white trash sport is going to last 3 rounds top.

I think there are people on this board who could take Mayweather in an MMA fight.

I can't see Mayweather stopping a single or double leg if they were allowed to use them. Hell, except for those that wrestled in HS or college most MMA fighters couldn't stop one either. That's why so many wrestlers got into MMA. Since leg take downs have been popular for quite a few years, everyone trains to use and stop them.

Anyone who understands the fight game knows this is a complete mismatch favoring Floyd. Calling MMA a white trash sport is ignorant and unnecessary.

Not many people in this thread are saying Conor is going to win. Many have said he will have to get lucky.

But to call MMA white trash is an uninformed comment, especially since a large percentage of fighters are from outside of the US and aren't white... People who call MMA white trash typically know nothing of the sport and don't realize how many different fighting disciplines and strategies go into a match. It's the ultimate hand to hand combat competition and is incredibly entertaining and inspiring to watch.

Boxing fans hate it because they know traditional boxing's popularity has been hurting for a while. I think they've had 1 payperview event since the last Mayweather v Pac fight that sold over 1 million viewers. MMA had 6 PPV event sell 1 millions in 2016.

He has less that a 1% chance, but if Connor can get him against the ropes and 'rough' him up, then it could get interesting. Connor is the bigger guy, but I just don't see how he gets a hold of him. Floyd is freaking smooth.

I miss the days of Tyson, Bowe, Moorer, Morrison, hell even Briggs. Boxing sucks anymore, at least in the heavy weight division.

I don't think people realize the greatness of Floyd. I've seen him take one solid punch. The guy is amazing, but his style isn't what people enjoy. They want to see Arturo Gatti slugfest type fights, stand toe to toe and bleed.
There was absolutely nothing more exciting in sports as the minutes leading up to a 20 year old Mike Tyson fight. You knew something was going to happen. I miss those days, but think boxing is enjoying a bit of a comeback. I love GGG, but see him getting robbed at some point if he doesn't get KO's.
As for MMA, I am also a huge fan. I train BJJ, and have trained with a bunch of UFC guys. Like high level boxing, it's like fighting a mutant. I respect anyone who steps into a ring or cage, and fighters in any discipline are some of the coolest and most down to earth people in the world. I probably shouldn't have quoted you, but I agree it would take something freakish for Conor to even touch Floyd.

I used to train ( weights ) at Powerstation where Rich Franklin did/does his strength training. Those guys are just a different breed. Its very impressive.

Two completely different training exercises. This is a pointless comparison.

good chance this never makes it to the ring. If it goes live won't make it out of the 1st round.
