It seems I am one of the few that can't stand Mayock. I am glad to see him out of the booth. I don't care for Flutie much either, but I really despise Mayock.

He plays up the underdog and other team too much. I know its supposed to be neutral but its a bit over the top what they do.

I have never liked that aspect of NBC coverage even before Mayock. I know it has to be neutral, but they tout the other team way too much. And Mayock made it even worse. He would go so far the other way.

Be careful people got all over my ass for saying that id rather hear the backstories of our players rather than the other teams backup kickers. Apparently in a national Notre Dame broadcast the national part is more important.

Yeh, I'm for the change, Flutie seems a little more pleasant about Notre Dame. It always strikes me as a bit odd ( we've overworked this thought many years now ) that a Notre Dame broadcast has always had guys that were so negative toward Notre Dame. Last weekend Chris Speilman did a fine neutral job and you know he respects Notre Dame but has lost no love as a Buckeye grad. Why cant NBC just allow a bit more pro Notre Dame slant. I got the feeling that Hicks ( because of his wife ) liked Notre Dame and did a great job then Mayock at times seemed to almost remind him that this was not a Notre Dame broadcast. People aren't watching theses games to see the opposition. Hicks is great maybe Flutie keeps it a little more neutral.

This is the weirdest post I've ever seen. I hate BC as much as anybody (living in Boston will do that to you), but who hates Flutie? Honestly, that makes no sense.

don't mind this at all, Mayock always loved the other team more than ND

I have already grown tired of their BC lovefest.

THIS

NBC literally has nobody with any ND connection on their broadcast team, after 20-plus years.

Seriously, TWO BC grads, a UGA grad and Hicks. Who, I guess, has tenuous ties to the school. Hannah Storm, his wife, went to ND.

Still, get rid of Flutie and Ward already!!

More than anything, I get so tired of nothing but neutrality and negativity from the NBC crew. They barely remind you that you are watching on Saturday with their NFL crew at the half, and "college crew" seems perpetually negative about ND...and yeah, they love to talk BC and the opposition too much. I think everyone could use the boot, other than Hicks. He gets it.

Turn the TV volume down completely and turn on and listen to the radio broadcast while watching the game on NBC. Much more pleasant than listening to the azzwipes on the NBC broadcast.

I don't mind Mayock talking about football analysis but he is no fan of ND. Flutie might be a good change.

I'm not sure when "Buckeye grad" started equating to "anti-ND", but I think you are way off of the mark, for Spielman. Long before Spielman was a Buckeye, he was a Massillon Tiger. The same Massillon Tigers that produced one Harry Stuhldreher. Massillon sits in Stark County, OH, and there is a very significant Notre Dame following in Stark County. Other ND players of note that came from Stark County, OH, include Bob Gladieux and Alan Page.

"Mike is one of the top Xs-and-Os commentators in football. The sideline analyst role will allow him to dissect the game from field level and present his findings to viewers at strategic times throughout the broadcast," said Sam Flood, Executive Producer, NBC Sports & NBCSN. "Doug is synonymous with college football and is an experienced booth analyst. We're excited to see how this new arrangement plays out on Saturday."

Mayock might be a great evaluator of draft talent, but I have never been impressed with his Xs and Os commentary.

I love the mock commentary they put in the One Foot Down post. Pretty spot on.

Is there an XM station or a way to stream the radio broadcast? Thanks in advance.

Mayock announces as well as any other announcer in the country. He's quicker than fast and I honestly think he finds a niche position in the league somewhere next year. But only if he continues to bring his lunchpail every day in practice.

I am so tired of these Mayock-isms. At least Hammond was funny (unintentionally) and unpredictable. I do like Mayock's NFL coverage though.

Yeh, good stuff I was aware of all that except for Stuhdreher, I was really complimenting how much Speilman respected ND and how well he carried himself thru the game- it was great. I may be wrong but the rub here may be that the presentation is going to get a little shot of positive leaning to the Irish. That would be great. Maybe somebody made a firm suggestion.
