The guy Parker used to spot for at the WVU gym.

If this is the hire, forget insults, i need to check for synonyms of Nepotism....
So let me get this straight. The only reason there is suspicion that this is the guy is because GP followed him on IG. Yet we know that they are friends??? Last time I checked, people tend to follow their friends on social media.

Parker just remember they were friends? I'm guessing they both have had IG for quite some time and likely while they worked together.

I hope not. He wasn't great at Miami.
Re: Feeley

Really?:

"During his time in Coral Gables, Feeley helped the Hurricanes to a 21-15 record, including three bowl invitations and a final ranking in the 2020 Associated Press top-25. He designed player development programs which translated into the all-time best roster availability for an entire season in program history. No plays were missed due to soft tissue injuries over the course of his three seasons and Miami outgained and outscored opponents two-to-one in yardage and points during the fourth quarter of the 2021 season.

In addition, Feeley, who supervised a staff of four, and his strength group were named the runner-up for the NFL Play Smart Play Safe grant, in partnership with the Miami Dolphins. That initiative highlighted Miami’s strength and conditioning program’s success in the primary prevention of hamstring injuries."

David Feeley should be near the top of the candidates list for this job.

No soft tissue injuries…does he design shoes as well?

I watch a lot of Miami football, as my wife is an alum (and a gigantic fan). Those teams were routinely smaller than their ACC/SEC counterparts, they would fade at the end of games, and the players who transitioned from the Diaz to the Cristobal regimes have been almost universal in saying that the difference between Feeley and Aaron Feld have been night and day.

Will be curious to see if/where Balis goes back into college football. Might give a clue as to the actual circumstances of his departure.

It's crazy that not a single thing has been leaked about why he left.....that's some CIA secret shit right there.

Most people don't care why a director of player performance leaves a team. Unless it's under the circumstances such as the ones that led to Chris Doyle leaving both Iowa and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

One of our posters claims it's because Freeman went to a seminar and got inspired to overhaul the training program (hard to believe) and Balis wasn't willing to do it. So Balis resigned and the program is searching for someone capable of seeing his vision realized.

I hope it's not as bad as it sounds. The way it was portrayed, once could be forgiven for thinking Freeman told Balis, "No more compund lifts, just bands, plyos and bosu balls". It's great to utilize all of the tools but I do wonder why they reached an impasse. It's hard to believe it was over a minor change in methodology. Or perhaps none of this is correct.

I'm anxiously awaiting the next S&C guy so we can begin deducing. (and I look forward to spring pump-up videos)

Vandy offered Balis’ son a PWO spot

I saw Balis’ Twitter post on his son’s achievements. He lacks height but is not surprisingly crazy strong for his size. Think he goes to Granger High in Indiana?

I suspect if there was ill will or philosophical disagreement, Balis is too classy & respectful of ND to say anything negative. Some of the ND beat have stated that Balis is successful b/c he blends old & new ideas when it comes to S&C so who knows?
Or there is actually some personal life reason that he had to step away from the job. Which why I’m curious if/when/where he goes back into the game. He hasn’t taken another job yet.

Anyone know who is interviewing for the position besides interim?

They talked about it on II podcast today. Basically they know but they can’t say. Hale is definitely not being retained. Their first choice turned them down and their second choice might be waiting to see what NFL gigs show up. They won’t name names yet but the only person publicly named as having ND be interested was the guy from the Panthers and declined

Yeah - and to add to this a little bit. They said that all the interviewees are well established in the field and that Notre Dame will be getting a good S&C coach.

Oh, and that Balis did leave for personal reasons - despite what Reaper says.

I feel like Balis "left" for personal reasons as the straw the broke the camel's back

II podcast - didn't leave due to MF, truly left for personal reasons. FWIW.

Also sounds like they know who it'll be, or likely be, or at least who the final 2 are. Sounds like one is looking for NFL job and that may be the preferred one, so seeing how that settles.

During the post-press conference analysis today, John Brice said a new S&C coach should be announced soon - the II guys were actually a little surprised it wasn't announced today - and that MF has done a thorough search involving candidates with NFL and P5 ties including some S&C coaches who will either be coaching in the playoffs or NY6 bowl games. It sounds like they have an idea who it will be and that it will be someone with a great track record.

Surprised the instagram stalkers aren’t on top of this. Big hire.
