Haha! Last year, we:

Won 1 game by 38
Won 1 game by 29
Won 1 game by 17

Won 1 game by 3
Lost 1 game by 1
Lost 4 games by 3
Lost 2 games by 7
Lost 1 game by 8

Lost 1 game by 18

So improvement by 1 net FG a game gets us to 5-3-4.
So improvement by 1 net TD a game gets us to 8-2-2.
So improvement by 9 net pts a game gets us to 12-1.

Very little improvement would go a long way!

Do you guys think that the players are tweeting such great things about Balis and his workouts because of shiny new toy syndrome or is he that good? It is pretty clear that Balis is demanding more than just large bench/squat numbers and fast 40 times; he's installing a new culture in the weight room that is demanding mental focus and toughness from the players.

I try not to buy into early hype, but the players never reacted to Longo like this. They have me cautiously optimistic that things will be different this season. They lost a lot of 1 score games last season, it looks like Balis, Ballou, and Co. are doing a great job so far at trying to put an end to that.

as long as the strength staff has his guys motivated and working hard as a team the reason is pointless to me.

After reading that, it is pretty incredible we found him at UCONN. It sounds like he has always belonged at a powerhouse program. I'm excited to see what the players look like during spring ball.

the fact that a player on his wedding day would contact his former strength and conditioning coach and consider him a "father figure"...this guy walks the walk and talks the talk...this is prob the BEST hire of our offseason...he spends the most amount of time w/ the players so if he creating these kinds of relationships it makes the players want to win for him as well

“Coach Balis was a great father figure to me,” Smith said. “To call him on my wedding day, that’s just how much love and I have for coach Balis.”

INteresting question here, but do other schools let their strength coaches go out on the recruiting trail?

COULD, but only if there isn't enough staff...much like how bob elliot went out as an analyst while alexander wasn't officially on staff

Well, since Brian Kelly has been here (2010-2016), Notre Dame is 11th in amount of players drafted by the NFL (31) including six 1st round draft picks. Not sure how any sane person could think that we don't have the talent to be a consistent top 15 team.

OK here goes one more time-the problem is not enough 'd' talent across the board coupled with just not enough overall football talent on the team. Most of the players drafted except for a few like Smith, Teo, Nix Hayseed etc are offensive talent that scored the ball but really don't matter in the grand scheme if you cant stop anyone. Notre Dame gets players in the NFL on smarts/enough athletic ability to play in the league/ and not being a problem guy-that's why they are given a chance but if you think for one minute that Notre Dame has the over all talent to win in todays college football world the way the big boys do you are not paying attention. We all love what Notre Dame once was but today they are Northwestern with a great pedigree. Man it hurts to admit that. They will always get draft able guys but to build a program today you gotta get in guys who just play football and lot of them.

Whole post is ridiculous. Explain Stanford then.
