Early report is broken femur and patella. Four torn ligaments in his right knee ACL, MCL, PCL and LCL

Well, I missed the MCL. But if it's all 4, that's literally all the ligaments in the knee, so a total dislocation. I'd be very interested in his eval.

That typically only happens in sever motor vehicle accidents.

He'll be alright and be able to walk again, but maybe it would have suited him better to go to a school with a better ROI? He's most likely not playing major ball again.

Seriously. This is why you "get paid" up front by picking a school that offers solid degree value. Tragedy can strike at any moment.

Yup. And he's not playing for at least 18 months. This is a catastrophic injury. The good thing is that he seems like a grounded kid and will take his blows in stride.

While I feel bad for the kid, ND, Stanford, and the other institutions which put a value on education should be showing this to recruits. This is how easily football becomes secondary. Plan for your future. Go Irish.

Devastating. We should take a moment and pray for him, whatever the future holds for him.

While people talked about his knee yesterday, every I looked at the picture the angle of that leg struck me as a broken femur. Maybe he'll get "lucky", I thought, and that will be all the damage. Never thought about the patella.

That was disturbing. His leg was just flopping around...I hope he has a good and full recovery. That was up there with Theismann's leg snapping in half.

Spurrier teleconference: Only confirms Lattimore has knee dislocation. Defers rest to team doc. Does say he might not return until 2014.

Prayers

I read today on usa today.com that the injury is not expected to be career-ending. Hopefully it's a Willis McGahee type injury that looks worse than it is.

They are saying down in SC that he will reshirt next year and come back in 2014. Best thing for him. He worked his butt off to recover from the left knee injury, and it is well healed and solid. He just has to do it all again, this time on the right.
