lsu would not have a problem hiring petrino or briles.

Jimbo is not going there. He already said no last year and he already has a better job anyway (at the very least, definitely not worse). It's why lsu kept Miles on this year. Besides, he is established there and just won a natty a few years ago. Minus the louisville debacle this year, his teams have been in the major bowl/playoff/natty mix for 4 straight years.

Oo, Petrino at LSU. That'd be fun to watch...

Jimbo is not leaving his kid's doctor for his illness is in tally so it would not be a good family situation for him

Jimbo fisher and he's bringing Bo Pelini with him.

Getting the band back together again. He wants a title in the SEC as a head coach. He's got nothing left to do in the ACC.

Book it.

Former LSU AD confirmed that Miles turned down Michigan in '11. Man. If only.

No because LSU has not been historically atrocious for consecutive years.

Look at the years prior to Saban (Archer - DiNardo).

LSU has had a number of back to back bad years. But so has Alabama. Ears Whitworth won something like 3 games in 3 years at Bama. Then Bear "came home to mama". Between Bryant and Saban the only bright spot for the Tide was Stallings. He won an NC then got to forfeit all but one game and got Bama sanctioned crippling the program.

LSU won a NC under Paul Dietzal with the politically incorrect Chinese Bandits and a Heisman winner Billy Canon. That was in Bryant's first or second year. For most of the next 25 years LSU (and the rest of the SEC) got Bryant's leavings. Arnsparger had as good as run as Saban did at LSU, 75% wins but he drew Bryant in his last year and Perkins.

When Saban was at LSU he didn't have to face Bryant, Stallings, and ... Saban. He got to face the inept DuBose, the one foot out the door Frachione, and the equally inept Mike Shula. Saban was 4-1 with the only loss a 31-0 rout to Franchione in Baton Rouge.

Archer and Dinardo both had a couple of good years and a couple of bad ones. Curly Hallman, in between them, was the real stinker. LSU historically has won about 65% of their games. Hallman won only 33%. No LSU coach in their history that was there for more than 3 seasons has a worse record than Hallman.

I meant Les.

The Les firing was to appease the boosters, because they wanted him out anyway. BVG just flat out deserved to get canned because he cannot coach at the collegiate level.

The death of LSU football will be their inept AD. At this point, other than Briles, who would want to work for this clown?

well... one clown deserves another I guess. Fat Eddie O is a great recruiter, motivator, etc. Even did well as interim at USC. But he hasn't shown he can be successful when given the keys to the caddie. Throw in the big money donors trying to run the program and I just can't see Fat Eddie O being successful long term for the Tigers. I would, however, pay money to see him square off against Bret B at Golden Corral's buffet.

Yeah, I just saw an opening to reference the Cajun Sensation.

LSU is still a top tier job in today's climate. Maybe their AD prevents them from getting one of the current flavors as the next "it" coach, but I think they'll definitely be able to get a big, solid coach. Maybe it ends up being Briles, maybe not. I know you and I would both like to see them hire a Derek Dooley/Sarkisian/Joey Freshwater/Fred Flinstone/Front-butt Weiss, but I think they can and will do better. Will be interesting...

Just FYI and SIAP, but LSU set a school record for most offensive yards against an SEC school this past weekend with Ed O at the helm. Their total yards also surpassed any amount set underneath Les Miles ever (even against cupcakes).

What if Ed O makes Lane Kiffin his OC and Monte Kiffin his DC?

Whoa.

Not gonna happen. They're gonna go all in on a big name.

I mean, why? You're in no hurry and nobody else is to hire Ed O. At least throw your hat in the ring on a guy like Herman.
