Freebie look at some of the Cast/Roster:

Get to know the likely cast of Last Chance U's third season

By CHRIS HUMMER/247

The hit Netflix documentary series “Last Chance U” returns July 20 for a third installment. Unlike the first two seasons, however, Season 3 will come with a completely new cast and location. “Last Chance U” will move away from East Mississippi Community College to Independence Community College in Kansas.

You’ll find out plenty about that program and its players over the coming weeks. But today, we want to provide a spoiler-free preview of Season 3 by highlighting the likely stars and who they were before they arrived at Independence CC.

Ranging from top-ranked QBs to SEC signees, America’s favorite junior college experience is sure to be an interesting one.

Malik Henry, QB, Florida State

The highest-profile player on the show, Henry’s path to Independence is decently known at this point. The No. 49 overall prospect in the 2016 class per the 247Sports Composite, Henry signed with Florida State out of high school and looked to potentially be the next guy in line for what is a long succession Seminole NFL quarterbacks.

Instead, Henry never took a snap at Florida State.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher suspended Henry indefinitely for a violation of team rules in the August prior to his true freshman season. Florida State reinstated Henry a month later, but Henry never did see the field.

Henry announced his attention to transfer in December of 2016.

That was actually the second time in two years Henry transferred. He left IMG Academy in Florida before his senior year of high school to play at Long Beach Poly in California.

Emmit Gooden, DT, Mississippi State (Commit)

Gooden initially committed to Mississippi State in the 2016 class, but he was a non-qualifier and had to take the JUCO route. A four-star prospect, Gooden ranked as the nation’s No. 316 overall player and No. 16 SDE.

This is what Gooden told 247Sports at the start of his JUCO experience in January of 2016.

"Classes are going good and it was important for me to get started early. I know how much I love football. So it is best to get this over with as soon as possible so I can be at Mississippi State and in the SEC. I am trying my best to be in the 2017 class and Mississippi State has talked to me about that."

Rakeem Boyd, RB, Texas A&M

A three-star Texas A&M signee out of high school, Boyd ranked as the No. 447 overall prospect nationally during the 2016 cycle. He redshirted during his freshman season and opted to transfer to Independence in May of 2017.

Boyd did not arrive at Texas A&M until the fall of his freshman year due to academic issues, and those snowballed into his first semester on campus, according to a report from 247Sports after Boyd’s transfer.

A Houston native, Boyd rushed for a combined 3,915 yards and 48 touchdowns during his junior and senior high school seasons.

Carlos Thompson, WR, Texas Tech/Garden City CC

Thompson’s had a winding path on his way to “Last Chance U.”

A three-star prospect in the 2013 class, Thompson signed with Texas Tech out of Manvel High School in Houston. Thompson played in five games for the Red Raiders as a true freshman, primarily in a special teams role. Per Thompson’s Texas Tech bio, he did not see the field the following season. Thompson opted to transfer to Garden City Community College in the summer of 2015, per a report from JUCO Football.

Thompson came to Independence following his stint at Garden City. He saw the field at Independence for the first time in 2017.

Bobby Bruce, LB, Titusville HS (FL)

A native of Titusville, Florida, Bruce is one of the show’s biggest mysteries entering Season 3. Bruce was initially a member of the 2017 class and did not have a ranking in the 247Sports Composite database. He was a 5-foot-11.5, 199-pound outside linebacker in high school, according to his profile.

NO SPOILERS

Watched the first 3 episodes of S3 and already this much is clear.

Malik Henry is a buster. Dude is everything you DON'T want your QB to be in between the ears.

The head coach better like Independence, KS because no one will ever hire him after this aired. He makes ole Buddy at EMCC look like a choir boy. That being said, I love him on this show. I didn't know they made white boys like this outside of Michigan City.

Other than Rakeem Boyd, I don't think I'd touch any of these dudes. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

The Calvin Jackson kid is a good player but not a key figure on the show. Don't know what his baggage is, but he's a stud.

Henry is a clown. Not a good dude.

I remember Gooden as a recruit. His career could go either way.

Obviously, love the English teacher Ms. P. She's the Miss Wagner of ICC.

I am on the second or third episode of the third season. I enjoyed the first two but found myself getting more pissed off then enjoying them honestly. The kids are lazy and the head coach at EMCC is a joke IMO. The part in the second season where he kicks the offensive coordinator off the sideline was the last straw for me. He just let his emotions get the best of him and took it out on everyone else instead of looking at himself. Carter in season 2 is one of the worst examples of a player you would ever want on your team. I enjoyed watching Trickett and Williams coach and I'm glad they both have moved on to better places then EMCC.

This season is more entertainment for me, the coach is a trip and just tells it how it is. Henry is a joke and will never learn from his past experiences IMO. More to come as I keep watching, enjoy gents!

I'm watching season 1 so I can see what all the hype is about... I am so mad at Buddy Stephens during this season finale.

He's out here calling his players out for fighting and acting like thugs and blowing their season, just like two or three games after getting himself ejected for fighting an official, and after having tried to fight an opposing coach, a ref, and a cop after their final game got called early for the fight.

He's trying to preach responsibility, and calling them on their "thug" and "redneck" bullshit.

Attitude reflect leadership, cap'n

RETRACTION:

IrishLion would like to apologize to Buddy Stephens for not completing the episode before commenting. Props to him for owning up after watching the film and apologizing to his team for his comments.

However, we would still like to note that he should have kept his own cool before getting into his team in the locker room about their behavior, especially in light of his own recent mistakes.

Four episodes in. A few thoughts.

1. Ms. Wagner is a dime.

2. We need a viable semiprofessional football league. Forcing these people to go to college is borderline cruel.

3. Moving to Barcelona would be less of a culture shock than moving to Scooba, Mississippi.

4. Fatherlessness fucks up young men.

5. This is how Trump won.

I think I know where your going here but do you care to expand on this thought?

Some people don't belong in a classroom. Giving grown men assignments fit for 8th graders and pretending what they're doing is somehow deserving of actual college credit isn't doing them any favors.

In my eyes it's part of the drill! They know what they are signing up for and they need to do their part. It's sad that they have to hire a woman to babysit these guys IMO. They have to have some kind of skills and learn something to contribute to society.

JUCO's should have majors like Retail, Warehousing & Logistics. Teach folks how to work in the supply chain. Knowing how to use a forklift or being able to understand bar coding frontwards and backwards is more important than trying to teach a kid not to dangle his participles.

I passed on a Deon McIntosh (EMCC) update that ISD had here:

http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/201...rb-deon-mcintosh-notre-dame-signed-nli-8.html

Made me curious about what's going on with current Last Chance U - Indy CC and Malik Henry(?) Well they are 1-6 and Henry's only played 2 games in which he was 49% w/ 1 TD and 3 Int's. I don't know if that equals the greatest TV event / kerosene soaked tire fire of all time or if it will be the saddest display of humanity brought to us by Jason Brown and Henry. At some point I suspect the cringing will overtake the interest.

Jason Brown got shit-canned: http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...oach-jason-brown-resigns-text-exchange-player

He was texting a German-born player and telling them to show up at the field for a disciplinary workout, and said "I am your new Hitler figure."

He then blamed the local newspaper for his "resignation," saying that their reporting on the text message had created an environment in which he couldn't work lol.

Yeah that guy is a real POS. Totally placing the blame on others and having zero personal accountability. You'd think he coached for OSU.

Bobby Bruce is an interesting story... but I want to see actual football and meltdowns on the sidelines.

(I'm only two episodes in, though)

This season isn’t as good. JB is just drunk the whole time and I get a serial killer vibe from the radio guy.

I think they knew they had less interesting characters for players that's why they have spent so much time with Coach Meat's brother and his family.

Jeff Simms at Garden City really comes across as a psychopath but DII Missouri Southern hired him.
