It does get obsessive, someone on here literally started a RIP thread for celebrities. Crazy.
How were you when Paul Bryant died? Will you be sad when Saban passed or will it just be another person passing away to you?
Simply recognizing the passing of someone famous and discussing how their life impacted yours, or feeling a reasonable amount of sorrow over their passing is normal. I'm criticizing the over-the-top, hysterical, hyper-emotional, "I need 3 days off to grieve and binge tweet about it because I'm heartbroken & devastated and need to carry flowers to the candlelight vigil" reaction to the death of some celebrity you didn't know. Normal people don't live vicariously through celebrities nor have that much of their identity wrapped up in John Lennon, Princess Diana, Kobe Bryant, or any other celebrity they have no actual relationship with.
