Anyone think BVG would get a shot at the job? Or is that a Bob Davies type hire?
I'd pass on BVG. He'd probably follow Kelly back to the NFL anyway.Anyone think BVG would get a shot at the job? Or is that a Bob Davies type hire?
Don't take this the wrong way cause there's no one I'd rather have right now at ND, but BK would get hammered by fans for some of his play calling at the NFL level IMO. It's not his strength.

Dan Mullen was a GA at Notre Dame in 1999-2000, just saying. Zaire in his offense would be neat.
I'd also be going after Charlie Strong with a blank check.
ND could afford to get in a bidding war but would never do it.IIRC, BVG tried his hand at HC previously, and it didn't work out well. He's a DC, and (I hope) he knows it. It doesn't pay to get promoted beyond one's competency.
I doubt ND could afford to get into a bidding war with Texas for Strong.
ND stealing Graham would seriously test some of my closest relationships.

Davaris Daniels to replace BK next season.
Only if his dad comes on board in the PR department
Obviously my top three choices would be:
-Urban Meyer
-Bob Stoops
-Jon Gruden
I don't think BK is going anywhere. Yeah from the outside we all think the "Frozen 5" crap is super annoying and I'm sure it bother BK to an extent but it's not like this is new for ND. He knew stuff like that could happen when he signed up for the job. I also think he wants to win a championship, just my opinion, before he leaves ND. People talk of him "wanting a new challenge" but hell ND is still a challenge, we're not all the way back to the top yet.
How could any ND fan just brush off the theoretical departure of BK??? It only took us 14 years to find a coach who could bring the Irish back into the forefront of college football.

Like others have said, Kelly is a great college football coach, but his strengths don't necessarily translate to the NFL.
He's not a scheme guy. He's not some brilliant in-game strategist. He's also doesn't appear to be a workaholic sociopath. He's just spent a quarter-century developing the systems that turn raw 18-year-old football players into polished 22-year-old football players. He's also very good at the politics of running of a high-profile program. That's a very different job than head coaching in the NFL.
I get why he might be frustrated with the administration, and why he might be tempted by the chance to try his hand at the pinnacle of the sport. But after he flirted with the Eagles and didn't go, I'd actually be more worried about him leaving for the University of Texas than the Houston Texans. And there aren't many of those Texas-type jobs to be had.
Now, if for some reason he were to leave: Dan Mullen. Butch Jones. Bert Bielema. Mark Dantonio. That's who I'd call.
Troof. Lou talked about how it's all downhill after the NC, which is a part of why he left. I don't think Kelly will leave before the NC if he can get it done in the next 5 years. Few at ND last longer than that, championship or no.
