Well my wife and I just left the hospital and we are now the proud parents of a 6lb 3oz baby girl.

For the ones that remember the story last year we lost our first child which was a boy. That was a very difficult time but now we have been blessed with an absolutely beautiful baby girl.

Of course, there are a lot of nerves going into this whole parenting thing but I accept any challenge that comes my way.

We plan on watching our first Notre Dame game Saturday and hopefully it is a victory. She has her cheerleading outfit already too.

Go Irish!

Congrats!

My prayers (well, my wife's prayers. If ND football is any indication, mine seem to go "unheard") go out to you and yours for a healthy child.

Thank you everyone, I feel helpless right now though because my wife is breast feeding so I don't get to feed her or anything like that. I just stay up with them so I feel "apart" of that process. lol

It may take a while until the baby starts to develop enough to move around/have a personality... but I combated that dynamic but being the 'playful' one... my 17 month and I have a great relationship as I am the 'silly one'. Best part of every day is getting home after work and seeing her light up as she sees me/runs to me...

Don't worry, that will wear off in a week or two.

But for real, congratulations sir. About 2 1/2 years ago, my wife and I suffered the loss of two babies, both to miscarriages, within 4 months of each other. I know they are in the presence of the Lord so that comforts us as we remember the pain. We have a 5 year old son and now an 11 month old daughter and they are both an absolute joy.

Oh and a side note but I don't understand people who tell these "horror" stories about being in the delivery room.

I was nervous at first because I didn't know what to expect but once she pushed and the baby came into the world. It was an awesome feeling and all the other stuff wasn't even a factor. Just seeing her was great enough.

Cutting the umbilical cord wasn't as "nasty" as I thought it would be either.

Congrats! I can tell you I had a hard time figuring out what my role was once our daughter was born. My wife spent a lot of time breastfeeding her too (10lbs, 10 oz girl! Our son was even bigger). I still remember her reaching up and grabbing my finger in the Mommy & Me recovery room, so cool. She eventually spent some time off the boob though and we got to bond more

Kids are a gift. It's trying at times, but it's worth it (At least at this stage. Some with teenagers may disagree lol). I didn't know what kind of parent I would be when our first one came, but it changes you for the better I think. When the kids come downstairs in the morning and their faces light up the first time they see me each day...it's worth all the crappy moments in between. It can make your day. Seems sappy to say that, but I think you understand if you're a parent.

Congratulations to you and mom.

Now start using that breast feeding time wisely.

You've got Algebra homework in 13 years!
