From what I can gather he wasn't recruited very heavily considering he wasn't ranked by any of the services.

I wonder how often this happens. I know Aaron Rodgers chose the JuCo route over playing low-level ball or being a walk-on.

BK wants pipelines in Louisiana so bad that he somehow convinced ND to consider a JUCO from the state.

i have been asking this for a very long time: why doesnt Holy Cross College have a football team? They could stack it with players that really want a chance at coming to ND and run all the same schemes and stuff. So if we need somebody mid-season, we just grab a quick transfer student that's familiar with everything already.

That's an interesting point. More importantly, the three Catholic schools have something of an educational synergy, so it would be easier for the university to evaluate any potential athletic transfers in a familiar academic setting. People transfer from Holy Cross all the time. It's definitely not easy (you need just about perfect grades there to do it), but there's a procedure in place.

Are ready-to-play mid-season transfers a thing? I've never heard of such a thing. A system like that, if it worked mechanistically and didn't compromise our educational values, would be very valuable. Our own farm team? Sweet.

Most of the high level JUCO's at least rated so by the services are names you'd recognize but chose to go play JUCO versus wait there turn for playing time or couldn't get into school. There will always be those diamond in the rough type of players, though.

I like the idea of JUCOs (assuming they qualify) but why RB? We develop RBs like Lesticles develops QBs

The lengths at which BK is going in order to not play Greg Bryant are mind boggling! Haha

Lol. I was wondering something similar. It's not like RB is a position of major need from a depth perspective.

This kid is 6'2", 225 lbs, according to the article Beau linked. I wonder if he is being recruited as a linebacker or something.

I've always thought that the staff didn't sincerely view Adams as an RB so getting somebody else in this class becomes very critical. Now, this is JMO but this does validate that opinion somewhat.

So what would Adams be?

Actually always felt this way also. Always thought he was a security commit and that we'd get 1-2 stud RBs and tell Adams he's looking more like a OLB or Safety and then he'd decommit.

As long as he/they can meet academic transfer requirements and hold their own in the classroom, I'm all for it.

Ditto. This line never made any sense to me.

Lucky for us that he tore it up.

I think he's one heck of an ATH. Where does that put him, I'd say best option would be LB. With that said let me say that I think he can play RB but I don't view him as a BCS playoff RB. Kind of like Will Mahone, solid depth player but probably just that.

Oh ya, he's been a stud this year. I mean I'm sure he'll be here as a RB. For some reason in my head, I've just never really counted him as a RB commit for us.

ND actually needs RBs.

They have GB and TF as juniors and then Josh Adams as a freshman.

If Smith works out then they have a back that fits into Elijah Hoods spot and dont have to keep taking 2RBs a class every other year.

Opinions might be divided on this but I think these guys could help us win championships on and off the field. I am all for it, bring these guys in if they want to work hard and become a student athlete at Notre Dame.
