Leave it to our f*cking fan base...

We've had Heisman-caliber athletes in the past who never got any real consideration because our team wasn't a contender (Clausen is the first one that comes to mind). I can't recall any complaints about him not getting invited to New York for the ceremony despite his junior year stats making him a worthier candidate than many others who were invited.

Fast forward to 2017. We've finally put together a complete team in playoff contention. We have a Heisman-caliber RB who absolutely deserves consideration. But our own f*cking fans are saying, "Well, sure he's got good numbers, but this asshole from PSU is running behind an inferior OL, and when you project them both at the NFL level..."

Seriously, GTFO.

Not sure if serious

Numbers are the only thing that matter

I was bitching they would sell $5 hats for $35 but now that I hear they are giving them to students I am OK with it. And they are $26 apparently so not quite as ridiculous for a hat as I expected.

Buy the hat and stop bitching. I know you rolling in free cash dog...

When have you ever seen a $5 hat anywhere?

Is it safe to assume that this has been vetted and blessed by the NCAA?

I have no doubt ND's legal department took a long look at it. Compliance concerns are probably why they weren't on sale the last week or so.

Yeesh.

-I think you misspelled "Tate"

-Based on how the Heisman typically works (yards yards yards), Josh absolutely does deserve consideration. Unless something big changes I except to see him in NYC.

-Not sure what makes Barkley an A-hole lol. Again, he is a better RB. No shame in that-he's the best RB in the country.

Maybe part of it if that I care less about the Heisman than many others on here. It's way down my totem pole.

he was saying it is a 5.00 hat which would be sold for a lot more than it's worth not that he was hoping it would be sold for 5.00

do you really think ND would do anything without checking into everything

I don't think he was calling Barkley an asshole the adjective, but asshole the noun...

They don't have this one, but at the ND clearance store down the road on Ironwood, they have ND knit hats at $5 and ND baseball caps general or sport specific at $10.99 (originally $33-$34)

  • I don't think he's likely to win it.
  • I do think he deserves an invite to NYC.
  • I don't understand why any ND fan would bother arguing for Barkley over Adams on the internet. Right now, all the necessary boxes are checked for him to make a run at it. We ought to just support him and enjoy the season.

I'm a college football fan almost as much as I'm a Notre Dame fan. As a Red Sox fan, I miss the Yankees of Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Bernie Williams. I enjoy watching JJ Watt do JJ Watt things. When it's clicking, Navy's offense is the most elegant system in sports. Sometimes you just appreciate things for their greatness and / or aesthetics. Saquon Barkley is one of those things to me. He just looks kewl doing running back things.

That said, #KeepCalmAndTruckOn. I'm definitely buying a hat.

This. We need to stop worrying/over thinking things and just be blissful. So few of fans get to feel like the stars are aligning and "this is the year". And even the ones that do, only 4 end up happy at the end of the regular season. This could be gone this Saturday, next Saturday, Tillery could get hurt, Wimbush could get hurt, etc.

There is SO much to worry about that's rational. But this opportunity as a CFB fan is so limited, let's not be rational!

Josh can win the heisman. We can win out. Our OL is better than your DL. Go Irish!

Who said ND fans aren't allowed to appreciate Barkley's play? One can reasonably believe that he's the better RB or that he projects to be more successful at the next level. But the Heisman has never been about who the "best" player is in a vacuum or about NFL projections. It almost always goes to the best RB or QB on a title contender in any given year. In 2017, we're a title contender and Josh is a Heisman-caliber RB. So there's zero reason why any ND fan should be arguing for Barkley over Adams in the Heisman race right now.

Has anyone seen the retail version of the hat in person? I'll buy it if it's a snap-back but not Velcro. The retail version is WAY nicer than the one they were displaying last week.

The marketing team responsible for this needs to stand up and take a bow. This is top-notch work, right here.

If this was based off student work, the students deserve an automatic A.

I also bought a hat. I hope it fits more like a regular hat and doesn't sit too high in the front like a real trucker hat. It looks like a regular baseball cap to me in the pictures.

I fully expect that it won't fit me. Most snap-backs don't fit on my head, even on the last notch.

I am also cursed with a huge head. My plan is to give it to my dad if it turns out not to fit. If it does fit me and I'm impressed with the quality, I'll probably buy another one for him regardless.

I also have a problem with hats, though it's a bit different for me.

Got two. I haven't watched an ND football game with my dad in two years. We'll be watching together next Saturday, rockin these hats. Pretty excited.

Honestly, given where teams are at and stats, why shouldn't Adams win it? Maybe Barkley is the better pro prospect, but that means nothing to the Heisman. Adams is the best player in the country right now and the most important player on a team in the playoff hunt.

I'd be interested to know how often the heisman isn't the first person drafted at his position.
