For some reason I'm more concerned and nervous about this game than I was about Georgia.
I think it’s because mentally we’re at the point where we’re actually realizing winning this thing is *actually* a possibility and facing an opponent we definitely feel we’re better than.

UGA we were still a little too far from the precipice to feel this way and it was still UGA, even with a backup QB.

This sounds like a guy expecting one of his best players not to play but doesn't want to show that hand...
absolutely it does or at the very least they are going to inject his shoulder with a whole bunch of shit and they are gonna see how much effect that has

We effectively played the Indiana and UGA second halves the same way due to big leads. Conservative / ball control + lean on our elite defense. When we needed a time consuming drive in the 4th to close out the game against UGA, we did.

We’re getting talking heads who didn’t watch ND all year until the CFP say our offense is anemic / not explosive when that just hasnt been the case.

I mean the spread feels about right. And a 1 point spread is objectively fucking terrifying, more so the closer you get to gametime. Yeah, I'm getting a little anxious mfers.

I don't think we're going to win, mainly because it is hard to get "up" many times in a row. PSU was gifted two walkover opponents, basically two Group of Five teams. This game is their emotional peak whereas Georgia was a bigger game for ND than this one. They also have two additional days of rest. Lots of environmental factors point in PSU's direction.

Can’t get up for a game that gets you in the championship?

Same. I think it's because UGA was considered the cream of the crop with a higher bluechip ratio than nearly anyone else in the country and multiple recent championships. I thought we had a good chance to win against UGA but there would've been no disappointment if we had lost.

On the other hand, it would be a real shame if ND lost to this PSU team and James freaking Franklin when our ultimate goal is so close.

While I agree that it’s hard to get “up” for this many games in a row…you’re in the final fucking four.

If Freeman can’t get the guys up for this one, then basically he’s just BK with better sideline apparel.

We may lose, but it won’t be because we didn’t come out with our hair on fire.

Maybe if this were the regular season, yeah - but this is the playoff with a chance to get to the championship game. I don't think "getting up" for a game is really a factor here - especially when the next opponent is another top 5 team. Maybe if we were playing Boise or SMU or some team we thought we were wildly superior to I'd think that was possible, but this isn't some random no-name team.

And this team has been in playoff mode since week 3 - this isn't new for them.

If we lose because we weren't "up" for the game, it is a big indictment of the team. OSU seems to have no problem being "up" for multiple games in a row.

Team is in TCB mode - everyone doing their job. I don't see it as "getting up" like we use to have to do in order to compete with the big boys.

I was impressed with warm ups - very methodical and orderly while UGA seemed like everyone was doing their own thing in a more haphazardly fashion. You saw the impact of that when the entire team is dialed in and ready to do their job while UGA leads the world in drops.

There's up and there's up, and what Lax is saying feels right re:coming down some off of the Georgia game. But then this is probably what MF is better at than anybody left in the field, maybe anybody short of Dan Campbell. Regardless this playoff is a meat grinder though, fuck me.

We stayed "up" better than UGA after a fucking terrorist attack. TCB mentality since week 3 = advantage ND last week and tomorrow IMO.

Penn State just as likely jizzed all over themselves thinking they are all world after beating up on the two weakest playoff teams.

If you can’t “get up” for the playoffs then why are you even doing this?

I understand the middle of a season having a let down against a MAC team, but there is no way this team isn’t hyped to play this game.

This was the equivalent of throwing a bucket of ice water over my head while sleeping.

Please don’t do this again.

On the flip side, PSU being gifted two cakewalk opponents may make it difficult to adjust to the speed and physicality of ND. They also played in a conference Championship game whereas we had a bye that week so I feel like its Tomato Tamoto in that regard.
We wont be seeing anything bigger, better, faster, or stronger than we saw last week. For Allar in particular, those passing windows are about to pucker up and he is about to have to manage a completely different kind of animal. I feel like if anything, advantage ND. Ideally ND can win and still be able to manage Love's workload so if they move on he has a chance as being closer to 100% for the natty.

Keep the pain. It's all still in front us. The boys should have no problem getting up for this game or the next.

This is logical and may be the story after the game. But if we get through the more beatable opponent (PSU vs Texas/OSU), we then get the extra day and 10 days off to rest and prepare. Let's shoot the moon here and take our risk on the front end in the semis to win the whole damn thing.

I am also not sure, after reading Franklin's comments about conferences at the presser, that he didn't give Marcus some bulletin board material. Would be fun to see what subtle dig Freeman have if they win.

Did you mean to say you think it will be challenging? or are you actually predicting we are going to lose to these clowns? Really, you think our players as elite d1 athletes don't have the mental capacity to "get up" for a playoff game? Of all teams, there is no way our run is going to end against fucking franklin and pedo state.
