Is Kiffen too toxic to be ND's head coach?

I get it. But if he didn’t pick up the phone to at least let ‘em know what’s going on that’s bs. I don’t think the guy went schizo could be wrong dough. Don’t know the full story

No. Also I would hire him as anything if he was unemployed, just for him to troll the f*ck out of brian kelly.

Ole Miss put together a $10M team and they have two losses before November.

He actually has more charisma than Kelly but he loses it when he leaves his team hanging. Did it to Tennessee to take USC job and now this. Beware the three initial teams. Kelly only got canned once where Lane got canned at least twice. Good assistant resume under two. Best college coaches the last 30 years. Let’s see if he beats Bama and gets 10 wins like Kelly in his first year or second.

They are both assholes, but people seem to overlook it more with Kiffin because he is an ass with a touch of charm.

Kiffin doesn't bother me. I like the SEC eating their own and Ole Miss can fall back to irrelevance where they belong while the state of Louisiana works to have 10% of it's GDP applied to college football coaching contracts.

I did enjoy Lane getting fired on the airport tarmac by them AD and my favorite NBC color guy Pat Haden. People seem to forget his less than stellar time at USC just like they do Sark. Lane ain’t going to do much better at LSU than Kelly did. LSU could have beat Ok if they played Nussmeier. The interim LSU coach is gone. He sucked.

I Think we can close the book on this thread.

The answer is, was and will forever be: yes. Yes, he is.
It's gonna come full circle. BK and Kiffin both started at ND and USC respectively in 2010 with BK getting the first win. Both end up changing positions, eventually with BK ending up in LSU and Kiffin at Ole Miss. BK gets fired, gets replaced by the same guy that he help get fired at USC.

Fast forward to today. Riley and Freeman. Freeman gets poached by the NFL, Riley leaves Southern Cal for South Bend. (No, please, I'm kidding!)

That's ... that's .... (sigh) ... that's not the way it works. Ignore the asshat, governor's comments.

Lane meets a few of the prerequisite conditions for being a successful college HC:
  • bright
  • monomaniacal
  • borderline sociopathic
  • workaholic
Things the modern HC also needs, that he lacks:
  • any sort of gravitas, whatsoever
  • at least the semblance of/ability to convincingly fake character, integrity
the last point is especially glaring, so that when he says things like "I have a lot of prayer to do" or "I wish I had a father's guidance right now" the default reaction in the listener is not sympathy or other positive feeling but rather an instinctive curling of the lip. He wants to follow the Urban Path but has precious little of the necessary emotional equipment. He will always be the guy who has so poorly developed a theory of other minds that he thought it would be a good idea to stage a press conference with fake journalists. This will end in a nuclear tire fire.

The fact that LSU jumped straight from BK to Lane Kiffin shows they've really learned nothing and are still just trying to win the press conference. Kiffin going to UF made some level of sense because they're fucking desperate in Gainesville and if he had replicated his OM tenure there he would be a hero. Meanwhile, LSU fans I see say their "reasonable expectations" for Kiffin's first four years are 3 playoff appearances and a national title. I'm glad they were so benevolent as to grant him one mulligan season.
