The appeals process was a lot faster than the initial investigation and hearings, that's for sure

I believe DD is simply choosing not to return. It's his choice.

That's my impression as well.

It probably says that they were guilty as charged, knew it, and were treated with respect by ND in the process.

They could have just admitted it in the beginning and we wouldn't have had to go through this nonsense.

Happy to hear that. Would have hurt to see DD playing for another team. Good luck in the NFL, dude.

Phillip Daniels never seemed on board with "playing school" from the get go. Always seemed perturbed with the academics first focus.

Shit I really hope DD makes it.

And oh man did BK seem mad when asked about if KVR and IW were allowed to finish out the semester.

Mad at the question or mad about the decision to not let them finish the semester?

With DD not coming back this opens up another scholarship for ND. I hope Ishaq comes back as strong as KVR wants to.

Maybe the players were telling him they thought they would be back before the announcement.

It's really sad it didn't work out for him.

Many might not remember this from his recruitment... but DaVaris was initially given the red light by admissions and looked headed for Miami. He chose the tougher path and unfortunately it didn't work out for him. Hope he makes it in the league.

I remember that and give him a lot of credit. ND is tough and not for everyone but that is why I appreciate the school

I hope so too. If you look around at the landscape of college football and this is as bad as it gets at ND, it becomes refreshing and just another reminder if why I am an ND fan.

It's really ridiculous that these guys aren't going to be allowed to finish the semester AND have to miss next semester.

If the process had moved quicker, they wouldn't have:
1. Taken a half a year's worth of classes that they will now get no credit for.
2. Would've missed this semester (which they've now officially missed anyways) and not have to ALSO miss the spring.

Soooo.... yeah, the process really doubly fucked these kids.

If they can't finish this semester it is really a one year suspension, not a semester. If they were paying tuition, would they get refunded or would ND keep it? I think we all know the answer.

On the positive side, retaking these classes should be a cakewalk for the first two months.

Wow, no shit? Or is Phillip just full of it? I thought for sure he would not have that option.

regarding above sounds like DD's dad is thinking twice about DD's tweet (being done).

Glad Ishaq looks to be coming back.

A source close to the situation told ESPN.com that Daniels has the option to potentially return to Notre Dame in the summer but will instead leave at some point this semester.

Irish coach Brian Kelly said during Tuesday's news conference that he hadn't seen Phillip Daniels' tweets, and he has only spoken to KeiVarae Russell and Ishaq Williams.

Kelly said Williams told him that, like Russell, he will not play this year but hopes to return to the team next season.

Russell, a junior cornerback, announced Friday on Instagram that he would not play this season but plans on returning to the program next season.

The fate of the other two suspended players -- Kendall Moore and Eilar Hardy -- remains unknown.

Fill me in please. I don't understand why they can't finish the semester since it is half over. I understand having to sit out a semester but kicking them out now + making them sit the spring is double punishment, right? Let them finish this semester and sit in the spring OR if they leave now let them back in come January.

I thought Ishaq was out of eligibility after this season?

Sounds like Russell is the only one owing up to his mistake. IF he comes back a better man like Golson then I am all about 2nd chances. DD was already on thin ice.

Considering what DD has already been through academically with ND, would admissions let him back in??

Definitely seems harsh, but ND takes academic fraud seriously.

Only if he played this year. Since he won't be playing, he's still got 5 years to play 4 seasons, which means 2015 is open for him.

I can't imagine ND would have given him the option to return without a clearly defined path to readmission.

DD may reconsider after getting his draft grade....my guess 6-7 th rd with all things considered...

If he comes back (which I doubt) he will have major competition tp for receptions. If golson does not improve in reading progressions, I could be wrong as he may just stare down dd and throw to him 80% of the time like he is doing with fuller.

give it time and just like EG everyone will find out what exactly happened. sucks to not have these guys playing on Saturday with their teammates, but i'm happy that the university stuck to what their mission/vision is. that being said there is something wrong with the process. the mission/vision can remain the same, but the process needs to be revamped. not for the fans sake, but for the student and athletes alike.
