This is more pathetic then the other guy. You are our NEWEST member! You literally joined Irish Envy to post this ONE post about you not being a fan anymore and walking away. WTF!

He wasn't a fan, he was just a troll. No way did he join just to say "I'm no longer a fan." He was most likely a Michigan fan actually, or just a Rutgers fan that likes to see another team down.

Even if he was a true fan, good riddance. I've stuck by this team through thick and thin, and South Bend will remain the most special campus in the country no matter how the football team finishes. If you've really been to campus and experienced it for yourself, you are a fan for life.

It's 2 games, yeah they have made mistakes but there's a lot of season left, but if a few games is goin go to determine your overall fan hood, than it won't affect how we feel about the Irish. Stay strong ND.

Hello and goodbye to all ND fans. My name is Mike, I'm 41, I live in NJ and I'm a lifelong Irish football fan, or should say "was". I just finished watching Michigan score 3 touchdowns in the last minutes of the game, turned off the tv, and said to myself "that's it". I can't take it anymore. I cant take having my hopes dashed game after game, year after year. I actually feel ill right now. As a result, I am leaving the ranks of the ND faithful. No more pilgrimages with my brothers to South Bend, no more game day parties, no more sweatshirts...nothing. I'm officially done. If I want to continue to root for a loser, I have one here right at home. GO RUTGERS!

Believe me, I want to do this too but I wont. I will continue to "HOPE" we win but bet against us and continue to win big vbucks. It's actually pretty funny how bad we are. There is no more lore or mystique about ND. I always wonder how we are going to end up losing a game instead of how we are going to win.

But for god sake if you are going to quit being a fan of the Irish.......Don't start cheering for Rutgers. (Although I would bet Rutgers would beat us if we played them)

Lol I an right there with you. I wish I could quit the Irish, but I just can't.

I will continue to get my hopes up only to get them crushed.

I will continue to dream of a return to glory but it won't happen.

I will continue to wonder how Gary bleeping Gray can be so awful on jump balls.

At least I have the Colts to cheer for.... Oh wait that's right Peyton is likely out for the year. **** me.

I sat in my apt alone and felt numb and felt sad. Then realized I should feel that way about today 9-11 not a football game!! Just a little perspective. I will keep the faith... I am and always will be a ND Fan!!

I have to root for ND there no other team or nothing i truly deeply care about like i do this football team besides my family of course. I spend way to much time on this board and to much money following it. But i wouldn't have it any other way. We will be back it might take another ten years but i cant wait to be the guy to say i told you so. Every football team has down years ours just last a little longer than they should. ill stick and ride with this football team no matter if we don't win a game this season. Even though this team is aging me 5 years with each game it plays. There are more important things in life than this football team but not to much compare to how deeply i love this football program. go irish. By the op glad you signed up for irish envy for that post don't let the door hit you in the ****ing ***.

I think severing ties after last night is ridiculous. With all the collosal failures we have witnessed in the last 10 years, I have a hard time buying last night was the straw that broke the camel's back. Regardless, he'll be back if they start tearing up teams over the next 4 weeks.

i'll admit i had high expectations for this year too and i think this is why it hurts so much right now, but to say i'm done all together is ludicris and to say i'm surprised with the start would show or tell that i have not been a fan for very long.

Day after...to clarify my post - I'm not leaving the board and I will not stop rooting for ND. I guess emotion got the best of me last night. I am in a wait and see mode, however. I hope the team can rebound against MSU. I apologize if I offended anyone.

this is the irish nation talking!!!!

Now thats not to say im incredibly upset the way this team has played. Im just glad to see there are others like myself who put so much into these teams year after year. I punched a hole in my dry wall last night, my lady almost left melol and i got drunk with two buddies. ND truly drains me haha Ive never felt as low as i did as a fan after that game. What turned my day around was the fact it was 9-11 and i attempted to look at it in a different light

I'm 31 and have been a loyal and proud Notre Dame fan. I truly believe this is worse than the 3-9 of 2007! This was supposed to be the year of the Irish returning to Glory and the BCS. There is a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. The way this team has performed is an absolute embarrasment. The execution from the players to the coaching is terrible. I'm not sure if we'll go 6-6! I will support this team with all my might, but I DO NOT think Brian Kelly is the right fit for Notre Dame.

9-11-11 shouldn't be something that turns your perspective. It should always be in the back of your mind and keep everything else in perspective... Football games really aren't that important after all of that.

Just my 2 cents on a somber night in between tears and watching video from 10 years ago and reliving it all over again.

I get the temptation to disengage, it's an easy way out and, in the short run, may be a healthy way to deal with this kind of loss. I know I was quick to yell at my kids today, for instance, and they shouldn't bear the brunt of our corner's inability to defend jump balls.

But the flipside is this: If you quit now, you don't get to join in when things go our way. I know nobody wants to hear about the Red Sox' history yet again, but I can tell you that I lived and died with the Sox year after year, and went through moments that left me numb for weeks. I wondered whether I should push my son to be a Sox fan, b/c I didn't want him to have to go through it.

And then, all of a sudden, everything changed over 4 games in 2004. Again, I know everybody despises the Sox stories so I won't get into it. All I know is that it was the absolute pinnacle of my life as a sports fan, nothing will ever come close. And the reason it was so great was b/c of everything that had happened before.

So when we get there Jersey Mike, I'm sure you'll be watching and you'll be excited. But you won't experience it like the rest of us, like a fan - because you've checked out. Enjoy the next few days, I'm sure you'll feel better than we do in the short term. Just don't come back when we pull off the next "big one," whenever it comes. The joy of that win is reserved for real fans.

You'll regret not being one of us, I'm telling you.

it's easy to be a fan when things are going well...true fans hang in there through the thick and thin...yes it's been bad for most of two decades, but it will only make the rise to the top even better

remember i'm also a red sox fan so i know from experience.
