Ok... I have had enough. I am now paying $220 a month and I'm getting ready to make my quarterly call to Comcast to negotiate a short term decrease that will eventually lead to me paying even more down the line. Before I do that... somebody help a brotha out and tell me how to get the following.

- High speed internet
- Local channels
- AMC, FX, HGTV and ESPN
- Game of Thrones. I don't give a shit about HBO as a whole, but gosh damn... I need this show.

I am willing to get a device like Roku. I'm willing to utilize Netflix, Amazon Prime and/or Hulu.

I get, I believe, all that except for HBO/Game of Thrones for $137/month from Comcast. Well past my 12 month teaser rate. I'm in Massachusetts. Not sure if their rates vary by market? But I have some mid-tier cable package. I think HBO was an extra $10.

See ND Crusders post above. That is legit the way to go. I have only high speed internet an basic cable. I watch almost every thing online now. My cable bill is $89. Netflx is under $10. I also have Amazon Prime ( free shipping) and the Firestick with Kodi

$112 for Cox in OKC:

50 MBs Internet

220 Channel HD package.

Cable Card

I have a TiVo system set up, and my own modem and router so I am only paying Cox for services, no boxes.

Wooley, here in Michigan we pay about $135 for 2 HD boxes, Internet, and phone. Well past our 2 years. Xfinity. I don't know how much G.O.T. or HBO is, we don't have that. Basically the dude that set it up told us that negotiating with a call center thru the phone is worthless. They all make hourly pay. Request to talk to your area rep. They make commission and have more control over your fees.

My two year agreement with Comcast ends in April, so I'm getting ready to "do the dance". The channels you listed are part of Comcasts basic subscription fee, so you should have to pay for those if you stay with Comcast. My package includes HBO and Showtime for $1 a month. They threw those in to keep me from bailing.

BTW.........I used their online chat function to negotiate my pricing. It allowed me to keep a record of the conversation so they couldn't come back and raise rates later.

I just got off the phone with Comcast yesterday due to $20 in excessive charges on my bill. My promotional deal is about to expire and I'll be paying roughly $165/mo for two HD boxes, X1 system, Double Play w/HBO. We also have Netflix so add $10/mo to that. Causes an argument every time I bring up 'cutting the cord' with my wife. Ugh...

Wooly, go with local high speed internet, get a HD atenna (mohu leaf), get slingTV subscription, and then stream GoT online from a free website (there's plenty). Depending on how fast the internet speed is, you can get that price down to less than $100/mo for everything. *Live sports may be a problem on occasion, but there are ways around it.

Wooly might be a doucher, but I'm pretty sure he at least has enough self-respect not to steal cable.

You guys are the best. One love.

Follow up question. I see that you can easily purchase a jailbroken (i.e. Kodi) firestick on eBay. Legit?

Most of this is touched on, but a friend just did exactly what you're looking to do.

HD Antenna - One time cost $15-$30 (Amazon) (Dependent on make/quality)
Roku - One time cost $30-$100 (Amazon) (Dependent on number/version)

Sling TV - $40/month (gives AMC/FX/HGTV/ESPNs etc.)
Internet - $50/month (for good speeds in most places)
Netflix - $12/month
HBONow - $15/month

That's $117/month for all of your entertainment needs if you don't want to rely on a jailbroken Firestick running illegal streams from some dude's random servers. None of it dependent on contract. It can be cheaper if you go either/or on Netflix/HBO, or if you can make due with ~$30 20mbps internet.

Or, listen to Crusader and others about unlocked streaming sticks/boxes and use Kodi and other, similar services to watch anything you want. I personally don't trust that stuff, because I don't know who is running the streams and where it's coming from.

This is the biggest hangup to most people. If you want crazy stupid fast internet, like I do, you're looking at $120 depending on the market for broadband alone.

I just don't know what I even need to do that I need to pay $120 for internet speeds like that haha.

I have 20mbps currently, as my neighborhood is still waiting for Fioptics lines to get installed, and I literally never have slowdown/grainy/fuzzy/buffering issues for streaming or online gaming.

A 36gb game might take 10 mins to download, rather than a minute or two, but I'll sacrifice the time to save the cash.

You might do some crazy awesome internet-related things that require lightning speeds, but most consumers probably don't. If 20mbps keeps the Roku streams clear, that's good enough.

Most of us use our internet for business, not playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure in our basement.

The Slingtv option with all of those channels and ESPN is $35. ($20 + $15 HBO add on).

Don't forget NBCSN for Notre Dame and whatever regional networks you need for your local sports.

100% dependent on the local markets. I can get 150 mbps through Comcast for $59.99. Metronet is even better getting 200 mbps for the same price. 500 mbps is only $69.99. If you're paying $120 just for internet, you're either getting ripped off, have way too fast of speeds, or it's just the rate your local market charges.

NBCSN is included with Sling, and the regional networks are usually covered as well via Sling's deal with Fox Sports, or via the HD Antenna

I don't believe so. It just lists espn, espn2 and another one I can't remember.

You can do a "sports add-on" for an additional $10. So you'd be looking at $50/month for the Orange+Blue package and the Added Sports. $65/month with HBO access.

So if you maximize the Sling package:

Internet - $50/month
Sling - $65/month
Netflix - $12/month

$127/month for basically everything you're gonna need. That price is starting to get "up there," as some local cable companies can offer around $115 for every channel + internet, but this keeps you from being contract-dependent and at the mercy of rising prices.

I live in teh rurals, these speeds are unimaginable.

The only thing I'm Slinging is hate for you guys.

You guys need to make sure you're talking apples to apples. Unless I missed something, it seems like you're all talking about different Sling packages.

Blue, Orange, Blue+Orange. Plus any add ons.

Can you do multiple TV's on this?
