hovering around 195, down from 218-220 range in June. i need to buy new clothes!

Down to 225 from 250. Been hovering there for awhile so I'm a little frustrated, but I think it's because I'm gaining a lot of muscle mass.

AWESOME! Great job guys. Any secrets to share? I'm stuck at the same weight for almost 3 months.....gotta exercise more.

I got up to a high of 270 four years ago. I'm big through the chest & shoulders and can carry some extra weight, but that was still WAY too much and I was just a fatass in 40" pants. I lost 60 of it in 6 months doing the low carb thing, but gradually put 30 back on. Got serious again a couple of months ago and am back down to 210 and a 34" waist by exercising more, avoiding junk food, and cutting out most of the carbs. My goal is 190 by the end of October and being able to wear 32" jeans again without crying in pain or cutting off the blood supply below my waist.

I was down 15 lbs...then I went to Sandals for a week with the wife for our 20th. I am still down 10 and hoping by getting back into routine this week I will be headed back towards that 170-175 goal. Would be a 25 lb loss.

Staying away from the carbs is key...but I still like beer.

The beer thing hurts. I haven't given it up... just cut back to 2 or 3 per week. Donuts and bearclaws talk to me when I walk by the pastry rack at the store: "Bishop, we still love you. How could you just turn your back on us after all we've been through together? Come back. You know you still want some of this." Temptation. Hang in there and good luck.

Try and avoid that bad day where you don't get to the gym and overeat. One bad day kills your whole week.

I was okay when you said 2 or 3, but then you said "per week" and that blew it.

Carbs -- ****'em. All of them. Fruit included. Just eat meat (any type), nuts and cheeses. Alcohol is technically not a 'carb', but it spikes your insulin in such a manner that it might as well be. And it messes with sleep, which messes with your hormones.

Lift weights, and use heavy compound movements. Like squats. Lifting will build muscle and boost your steady metabolism, and the heavy compound lifts will help release testosterone and growth hormones.

Get 8 hours of sleep every day.

Nice work. I started crossfit about 9 months ago and I love it. I had some setbacks so I thought I'd give you some advice before you experience the same.

Crossfit is extremely tough on joints, especially if you're rapidly increasing strength. I've worked out my entire life and have never had problems with my knees. About six months after I started crossfit, I developed tendinitis in both of my knees. I've been resting five weeks now and I'm still trying to get rid of the pain and inflammation. The program is great but you are squatting and/or using your legs almost daily. It's tough to heal. I suggest investing in a nice pair of knee sleeves. They keep your knees stable and warm and probably would have prevented what I'm going through now.

I would also recommend paying close attention to the trainers. To be blunt, some of them are morons. Don't accept their advice as true just b/c they are "licensed". If you pay close attention, you'll find the best trainer. Try to schedule your work out during their session.

Follow the diet. It works. I don't have issues with weight but I did reduce my body fat percentage.

I spent about 3 months away from CrossFit healing and rehabbing some bicep tendonitis. During that time i did the Whole30 program and lost the weight i mentioned above. I echo your sentiments regarding CrossFit, though. It's truly important to check your ego at the door, listen to your body, work at the pace appropriate for you and pay close attention to the coaches that know their craft. Sometimes you get a bigger class and less seasoned coaches and you can get lost in the shuffle and injured. It's a marathon not a sprint. I love the vibe in the CrossFit box where we workout. It's like my days working out with the team. Stay with it and best of luck.

I am down 19 pounds since May. From 212 to 193. Plus I stopped exercise a month ago. Football season makes me a couch potato.

Finally hitting a 5k. Running 3.2 miles in 30 minutes. Never thought I'd get to the point of running 30 solid minutes at any pace. Down 3 inches around my belly doing 100 situps, 30 tabletop crunches, 115 crnches, 60 leg lifts and 2:30 minutes of the plank.

Also down 17 lbs to 178 and have abs for the first time in my life. Wife says I look better than I did in college...20 years ago.

I've been running a ton this year. Did the Broad Street 10 Miler in Philly as well as the Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon.

Thinking about signing up for the Philly Marathon in November.

Have just been eating baked or grilled chicken for lunches and no changes drastically for dinner and I have lost some weight. Just changing my diet, I think I have lost probably 10 pounds in the last 20-35 days. I have been working out like a slacker, maybe 2 times a week. They say 90% nutrition, 10% fitness. I knew a guy that was the most fit person I have ever met and he showed me a picture of himself 5 years earlier at about 100 pounds heavier. His motto was to eat to survive during the week and have fun on the weekends. So he had proportionate distribution of the food chart through the week. While I can't do that due to my pickiness in food, I am slowly starting to follow his methods with the meat. He just ate "not fried" chicken everyday. So on Sundays, I season chicken differently for different tastes and grill enough for the week of lunches. Great tasting chicken(like port a pit) and losing weight at the same time is ridiculously nice. I also changed my eating pattern. Always eat breakfast, small lunch around 11:30(chicken thigh/leg), snack at 2, sometimes good like a fiber bar, sometimes bad like flamin hot cheetos(small bag), then eat dinner at home.

I guarantee if you follow the lean meat, more meals a day that are smaller you will begin losing weight in the first week, usually 3 days. The slowly integrate yourself into a nice workout of walks, jogs, etc.

Just thought I would toss my story in the hat! ;)

I workout about 4-5 days a week and have a high protein diet. I've been running quite a bit lately; I usually just run about 2 miles but I ran the Sunburst 5k last Saturday.

I don't use a scale to measure my progress because it can be discouraging if I don't see any results. Instead, I use the mirror to measure my progress.

I am proud to say I have went from 225 to 175.

All I have done is eat smaller portions but of healthy foods. I also have ate everything 3 hours. So around 6 times a day.

I moderately worked out. Mostly running and doing stairs.

I will now start bulking back up but muscle this time not fat.

It was a long and trying journey but as the time went on my body had a different/healthier feel to it. It feels awesome

I will start trying to lose weight as soon as my wife has the baby. My wife's Dairy Queen and Ben & Jerry's cravings are ruining any hopes of weight loss. Though on a positive note this is the first pregnancy where I didn't gain any weight (Baby #3).

Skinny guy problem alert:

I've been trying to cut fat and build muscle for the last few months. Seeing some results but not as much as I expected. Scale still reads the same, clothes fit better, moderate change to physique.

Props to everyone working hard and losing weight. #HealthyAmerica

Similar issues to bleedbluegold. I lost weight for a while and a bunch around my middle, etc, yet the weight loss seems to have subsided some. I guess I'll just keep working towards having some abs. Hoping my injured buttock allows me to run again soon. Have nt run since April. Here we go, Couch to 5 K all over again.
