Well at the start of this I never posted my actual weight out of shame. Years of having a wife that loves to cook great food and a cushy job had caught up to me. Here is an update on my journey.

January 1st 2012: 289 lbs
July 12th 2012....: 230 lbs

59 lbs down! woo hoo!

I am planning a 60 lb party for this weekend : )

Typical day is green tea and oatmeal in the morning. Lunch is a PBJ. After work I go to the gym and come home and have a massive protein shake as a substitute for dinner. I have a few chips with salsa in the evening to hold me over. Water throughout the day. No pop..no excess eating. One day a week I have a different lunch to change it up. Weekends are same for breakfast and either lunch/dinner for the protein shake when I finish working out and I eat moderately the other meal. Plan worked in college for spring breaks and it's working now.

Im not really trying to lose weight but today I have started my official diet. Im trying to build lean muscle more than anything. So I am just eating protein, protein, and more protein. That is your muscle's best friend. I will always have water by my side to keep hydrated. I'm 6'1", 195-200 pounds. I don't think I'm done growing yet but we will see. I would like to be 6'2", 210 pounds by this winter.

Also, for those of you who are not big in working out. Running is great and all but when you stop running you stop burning calories. When you are done working out for the day, you keep burning calories because your muscles are working hard to rebuild. So you can be sitting on your *** watching tv and burn an extra 300 calories because your muscles are in the rebuilding stage

I'm down 5 pounds in 3 days.

I'm eating almost all protein, running 2 miles everyday, lifting weights every other day, drinking a gallon of water a day, and absolutely no pop.

I weighed in at 195, I am now 190

Nice work! I seem to be stuck at an even 60lbs down. I haven't lost a pound in the last week. Oh well, time to change things up a bit. I'm trying to lose 20 more lbs by Christmas.

All I want for Christmas is size 34 waist pants, (size 36 now)

I think the gallon of water helps a lot. I'm not hungry all the time any more

I see this hasn't been bumped in awhile. But I had quit working out because of my job, and such, and gained about 10lbs. Went from 196 to 208. Still not bad considering I once weighed 245.

So I started up Insanity. About to end my 3rd week. It's a tough workout but well worth it. I have yet to actually lose pounds but I have lost a couple inches and feel a lot better health wise. I am not always out of breath.

Nice! Insanity is tough!

I'm down 67 lbs but I don't lose it very fast anymore. I do workouts 3-4 times a week but not as tough as that Insanity or P90X

When ND wins tommorow night, I will have lossed a ton of weight. At least the weight of the pressure of losing to either scUM and MSU since 2004 in the same season. Hard being a resident of Michigan.

Fantastic job! Keep it up!

I'm heading to cross-fit for the first time tomorrow. Wish me luck.

I'm not really looking to lose weight - just trying to get more fit in general.

Nicely done sir!

Thanksgiving sent me in a tailspin I have not come out of yet. Started about 242 when we started talking about this, am right around 235 right now, gotta get more consistent. Have had some good stretches, then follow w/ bad. Turkey day/my b-day/beating USC kicked my diet's a$$!

Alright guys, Thanksgiving is past us but the holiday season is right around the corner. I lost 20 LBS over the summer, which I was very happy with. Hell, I even found a few abs that I did'nt know I had. But since, I've gained back about 6-7 LBS. Doesn't seem like much, but considering my original goal was 25 LBS and I can feel my belly jiggle when I brush my teeth, it's time to watch what I eat again.

Who's going to drop 5 with me before Xmas?

I have not seen this thread before but since end of April I am down 37 pounds, quit smoking, cut out fast food and all sodas. I excercise about 30-60 minutes per day of mainly cardio. Just thought I would share. 240 down to 203 now. Need to add muscle :)

That is great!

For this New Years, I'm going to be trying the same. How did you get off the cancer sticks? I've tried and tried, but always end up going back.

I'm about 260 now, want to get 215-220. I know I won't give it my all during December (stressful work, Bowl Season, Holidays) so I'm planning on after the New Year.

Anyone have any workout plans/diets they recommend? I just a treadmill that basically looks like the computer from Star Trek, and I thought about trying out the couch to 5k plan, but I'm open to suggestions.

**** I'm trying to drop 20 before Christmas. Freshman year I went from 256 (my football/wrestling/track weight) to 206 by eating purely vegetables and chicken and basically living on am exercises bike. But then after four years of partying at Ohio State and drinking real beer (stouts alllll day) I'm up to like 278. On one hand, I'm kinda impressed that I don't look fat and could've actually gotten to 310 and been a solid Guard at Toledo. On the other hand, I'm getting to 200 because I want to look good again and live longer haha

So this winter break I'm going to wrestling practice every afternoon and doing Insanity every morning or night. My mother and sister are "juicers"...not 'roids, the vegetable drink...so I'm going to absolutely drop weight.

I like this thread. We should keep it up and really promote this achieving lower weights dealio.

Its awesome to hear the success stories! Keep it up guys!

I'm currently on my planned holiday break but will be right back at it January 8th.

This year I lost close to 70 lbs (but I've gained 7 back). I also gave up Diet Pepsi this year and have now been smoke free for 5 years. :)

I want to lose 20 more lbs this next year and fine tune my body with more exercise.

My exercise plan: Hiking, Yoga and Kick Boxing.

My simplest answer is that you won't quit until you want to. You won't quit until you can be around it and not think you can have just one. I had a crazy experience where I almost crashed my car from a coughing fit. That was enough for me. Have not had one since. So for me I essentially got the **** scared out of me. That is what it took. Straight cold turkey. I should add I was a smoker for 15 years. Dropped it in one day. Didn't make hay about it, didn't say bye to the last one, didn't make a cake and celebrate, I just walked away. I can't tell you the difference I feel. Hardest thing was not
smoking during all the things I used to do ( driving , drinking, after meals.). I won't ever go back. 240 days roughly without.

Interested to hear what you guys will do for 2013. Are you gonna keep with the weight loss or switch to muscle gain? Or both?
