Yes. Jr. would receive his offer telephonically from Ty (on the golf course) in early February, 2012.
see, ND should have never fired Ty, he was so ahead of the game.
I remember following TV stories on the next hire of the ND coach. It was like looking for the smoke out of the Vatican.
I was PISSED when ND caved in and hired a mediocre coach. He proved his mediocrity. His offense couldn't gain a yard even if the opposing defense drew 10 personal fouls. But I'm an ND fan, and I saw a certain pic of TW during a UW hard loss. The strain in his eyes kinda got to me.
He has moved on. I kinda think ND fans should leave him alone, and move on as well. You can't blame the man for "going for it." How many of you folks have tried to be the head coach at Notre Dame du Lac?
I have moved on, just feeling good about my 4 day weekend, poking at Ty a little. so you knew he was going to be mediocre when he was hired? da*n i needed a little time. no i don't blame Ty, he had to take the job. Bob, failure to get Urban, Ty , Charlie, hindsight is 20/20. strain on him or not this is sports, passion runs deep for ND football, he knew this, or maybe not.
Yeah. I KNEW he would be mediocre. That's why I cussed and scared puppies when it was announced he was hired. I'm sexy that way.
But why even talk about mediocre times, unless the entire program is trying to learn from losing.
The period was intended.
elite programs in the MAC
There's an oxymoron.
Congrats to him though.
I'd be willing to bet their record since 2000 is better than Notre Dame's. Plus, they beat Michigan State *at* Michigan State and have finished in the Top 25 as of two seasons ago. Someone I can think of had some trouble with that recently.

Compating CMU's record to ND's is apples to oranges. If ND played a bunch of MAC teams every year I'm sure that their records wouldn't even be close.
In fact, ND still has a better record.
From 2000-2009, Notre Dame was 70-51. Central Michigan was 58-63.
It would have been cool to see a legacy suit up, but he'll have a much easier time seeing the field at CMU.
Best of luck TR
Notre Dame since 2000 78-54
Central Michigan since 2000 63-72
Central Michigan plays a far inferior schedule also, within that timeframe Notre Dame has been in the top 10 a few times not just the top 25.
Golden Tate IV in something like 25 years. Maybe Michael Floyd III. Ricky Watters Jr?
Well, I was wrong on that point -- obviously can't argue numbers. That's not a big deal. Doesn't change the fact that he's still going to an elite MAC program (and that's what they are. In the Mid-American Conference, they are right they're with Temple, Western Michigan and Miami). Three MAC championships in a five-year span makes you an elite MAC program (which is what I said they were, in-case you can't read. I didn't say they were an elite national program.) Those are also numbers you can't argue with.
If you're going to say the kid is going to a crappy program, you're just wrong. Texas was 5-7 last year and finished 2-6 in the Big 12 after making the national title game the year before. Guess they suck too.
Still wasn't wrong about the Top 25 finish, though.![]()
I agree.
"Elite" is not the word I would use. "One of the best" might have worked, but I'm not sure that's applicable. Central Michigan was 4-8 last year.
They had a very good four year run from 2006-2009, best summarized in two words: Dan LeFevour. They were 9-4 (conference champs), 8-6 (conference champs), 8-5, and 11-2 (conference champs). This was mainly due to A) Brian Kelly and B) Dan LeFevour.
Central Michigan was the perennial doormat of the MAC under Mike DeBord, who coached there from 2000-2003. They won 12 games total in that four year span.
Enter Brian Kelly. In 2004, they were 4-7. In 2005, they were 6-5. In 2006, they 9-4 and won the conference championship. Three of those four losses were to Michigan (11-2), Boston College, and Kentucky. The starting quarterback was (you guessed it) Dan LeFevour.
