Anyone have any perspective on Oregon?? You'd think with the Nike money and such they'd be able to get a coach up there to keep things rolling but it hasn't worked out thus far...

Oregon's fifteen minutes of fame is over.

Not if they get Kevin Sumlin back.

He's 86-43 with one losing season, 5-7 at UH in in 2010. They could do a hell of a lot worse.

This really works out from a timing standpoint for Purdue. He's going to recruit well for them and he has a decade worth of head coaching experience in Texas.

This is obviously going to happen, right? Think Sumlin could be quite successful at his alma mater too with full support.

I doubt it. He has no incentive to look for a job ASAP since his buyout is guaranteed.

I'd do a TV gig for a while to build back up rapport with the nation, or just sit out for a bit and wait for a better job. Coaching at Purdue sounds awful.

Only 10 of ~130 college coaches are at their Alma Matter. I feel like we as fans always think that's where they want to go, but it's not often the case.

If Tennessee strikes out again I don't know what they'll do.

Around '85 I had a chance to speak to Auburn coach Pat Dye for a few minutes and asked him something I'd always wondered about. "Coach, you played at Georgia and were an assistant at Bama for a long time. When you play those teams now do you ever have any mixed feelings?"

Without any hesitation he said, "HELL NO! They don't pay me a damn dime to win games at Georgia or Bama!"

This hiring search is a disaster the likes of which even the most pessimistic fan couldn't predict. Not saying we should keep Kelly, because we shouldn't, but it turns out there are, in fact, worse positions to be in.

Kiffin was on DP today and said UT has not contacted him, the tone of the interview felt like he'd listen if they did.............. fun times.

Shade... you lucky dog looks like I'm trending depending on which tweet you believe.

If it does go down, I'd CB Sumlin to Purdue immediately if not for the ASU gig.

Mitch Daniels is gonna have to open up the checkbook a lil bit more to get Sumlin and as a rule... Mitch don't like spending.

Maybe they just promote Brady Hoke to HC on a permanent basis. I would love to see that and watch the heads of Vol fans explode.

Kiffin back to UT would be priceless. Not a bad move for either or them, actually, but the irony and all the memes we'd see for the next couple of years would be epic.

It’s crazy how many Vol fans want Kiffin back. I could understand if he was a good HC. Guy acts like a dumb frat boy.

A base that was just morally outraged over another potential hire, a week later wants Lane Kiffin... 2017 everybody.

Based upon Volnation's response to the thought of Dave Doeren being their new coach, they view him about the same as they view Butch Jones.

As bad as Tennessee has handled this hire, this Lane Kiffin thing may eventually happen.

Why not at this point just go hire Tee Martin and pray he works out? Why start dumpster diving for punchable HCs for middling programs.

All I know is that whoever takes the Tennessee job will be significantly overpaid. Tennessee has less than zero leverage.

I've mentioned my distaste for Val fans and how they seem to have such a huge thing for ND even though there is no real history or rivalry there. So as this has gone down I've kind of smiled inwardly over it but I'm serious, I'm starting to feel bad for them. As vile as they've been to us over the years this sucks hard for them...
