Well if they really have upgraded and are spending then that is a step in the right direction for sure...

absolutely hated PU growing up. softened on them a bit in the mid 90s as my best friend was a grad and we immersed each other a bit in the other's sports. his feelings are that they have already been in the mix in basketball, and have been going all in on FB. They were pretty good in the 60s and late 70s, and had some pretty good teams under Tiller. He was just back to getting excited (he said more than he's ever been), and now they lose Brohm. He's not a happy camper.

New facilities just finished up early this year I believe. Not Oregon level, but a serious upgrade.

No idea if Brohm will ultimately leave or not, but for now, I would look at the source of the rumor. dakich is a loser, to be honest.

And so far, he's the only source.

IF Brohm goes to Louisville, he’s not going to care about where he has a better chance to win next year, or which program is better PU or UL, or which division is easier to win in. Louisville is where he wants to be, it’s his dream job. He’ll either stay because he’s such a loyal guy at Purdue or he’ll follow his dreams. It’s really that simple.

I heard about the Dakich tweet on sports radio but when I got home I saw it all over various msg boards and assumed it was a done deal. Shame on me for being lazy. So this is still all speculation based on a Dan Dakich tweet? He seems like one of those dudes that is going to go off unhinged on air & lose his job one day.

I listen to Dakich quite often and he's wrong as much if not more then he is right.

As far as comparing the two schools. Purdue has been good in more than the Brees years. Tiller made them an instant winner. The problem with Purdue which I've stated several times has been Morgan Burke the former AD and his penchant fir running the athletic department on a shoe string budget. Coaches were paying for recruiting trips out of their own pocket. Purdue has committed to upgrading all of the facilities (some already completed) and the new AD has the backing of Daniels. Don't know if Brohm is staying or going, but he now has the resources to make Purdue a consistent winner and play for the B1G championship.

With Louisville losing all of the PPJ sponsorship money, I would expect Louisville to slip back into the midland group where they normally resided prior to Schnatter getting involved. One could argue either way, but I see the Purdue job equally as attractive as the Louisville job.

And just to be clear on this recruiting topic. Purdue had by far and away it's most successful recruiting class in 2018, since 2012. UL still was rated ahead, 30 versus 51. Not even close and Purdue had more commits 25 to 23.

You'd have to go back to 2012 to find a Purdue class was that was ranked in the top 50, at 49. 2018 was at 51 and was the next class that came close. Routinely ranked outside the top 60. On the other hand, UL's lowest finish is 45 during that timeframe. Routinely in the top 40.

A lot of that has to do with the facilities and lack of upgrades. It's easier to recruit kids to the programs with all of the amenities. Now that Purdue has completed a lot of upgrades with more to come, they should be able to garner more of those kids as long as the coach is a good salesman.

I'd like to see Purdue take things more seriously and get good though, I don't hate them... and I think NDBolier is one of everyone's favorite dudes here.

Post of the year right here. Game over, shut it down.

yup. it truly is a different place with Burke gone. a lot of folks liked Burke at the beginning after bringing in Joe T, but things were simply not good after Joe left.

Agreed, Dakich is a dufus (he went to IU, what do you expect ;)). His show on 1070 is hot garbage and he’s all about “speaking his mind” just to get a reaction. No one considers him a fountain of journalistic integrity and professionalism. Having said that, I’m sure Brohm would love to go back to Lville some day, just hope it is after he finishes what he started at Purdue. The recruiting class he has right now is shaping up to be the best since Tiller was there, probably better. It just comes down to if he has the motivation to see this through or is driven by something else.

Even if the report is true, Brohm isn't going to step up with two games left and say, "Yeah, sorry, guys. I'm leaving. I sure hope my team plays hard for me the next couple games though!"

I'm not saying the report is true or not, but he'd likely deny it either way.

Jeff Brohm was born and raised in Louisville, correct? Played there. Coached there. Rooted in the town and in the program.

Seems obvious as to why he'd be the top candidate.

Exactly, state of the programs or which conference the two schools are in doesn't matter to Brohm. Does he stay loyal to the players he recruited to Purdue and gave him his shot to succeed or does he go to his dream job?

Remember, he's from a Catholic family and went to Catholic school.

Maybe ND is his dream school?

Don't forget the $1.25M-ish per either.

Louisville's actually a fun town. West Lafayette? Not so much unless you're drunk grubbin at the Triple XXX.

Wonder if Acamp is now a fan of Les.

Was hoping a little that he'd end up at PU lol.

@Matt_Fortuna

But shortly after Les Miles got fired in 2016, I asked an agent where he thought Miles would end up. The response floored me:

“Whoever ends up with him will end up with another Charlie Weis at Kansas situation.”

... and now Kansas just hired that guy.

Mike MacIntyre officially out as HC at CU. He is owed around $10M.
