There was a change in the rules so the 7 year clock doesn't include time spent in the pros. He was in the league through 2016, so he is still in the 7 year window.Based on what I’ve read about the Grad Asst rules….. none of this makes sense. There is a 7 year window from the later of either graduating or exhausting eligibility.
It’s assumed that he graduated in 2014 which would mean that he’s now past the 7 year window. The only thing that makes sense is that he didn’t actually graduate at that time. He was suspended for the Rose Bowl for violation of team rules. Lots of rumors at the time what it was, but it’s possible that whatever happened didn’t allow him to graduate.
Not entirely thrilled about the PED’s suspension in the NFL either.
The part that I was confused by was the years being a GA. I thought the limit was overall, like the 4 seasons of eligibility for players, not that it reset at each school as long as they were inside the 7 years limit.
