I guess it's that time up update the front page banner and get new threads started....

Man, that timing of the USC game is going to be rough. 8th game in a row with no off week and during the week of midterms. We better hope that we get some blowouts early in the season so we can develop some depth and take some of the wear and tear off the starters.

The byes are spaced out horribly but oh well. Need to find a way to start 7-1 before the byes

Hopefully USC is banged up by then and they gotta come to ND

I love our September but wish we had a bye after Duke. Don't wanna bye right after OSU because you can either ride the momentum from that game or have a nice bounce back opportunity the following week.

Pretty sure they were determined mostly by the ACC of course. Non ACC games had already been scheduled in advance and ND is at their mercy for the ACC games. Will be interested to see the number of ACC teams that have byes before playing ND.

what worries me the most about the schedule is starting the season at Ireland against navy. NDs offense better show up to play in that game cause im worried about NDs DL holding up in that game.

I actually really like starting the season with Navy. You've got a ton of time in spring/fall camp to work on defending the triple option, and it's easier to transition in and out of it for the next week rather than trying to swap in and out mid season.

True, but I assume if we really wanted to we could have booted CMU off the schedule and found an equivalent school (if not CMU itself) to fill in one of the later season byes.

Edit: first school I looked at (UMASS) has a bye 11/11.

Also gets all the inevitable knee injuries out of the way so we can continue the tradition of next man in! /s

Jokes aside, if we gotta play Navy, I definitely prefer beginning of the season when we can prep for it during camp and not have to bother mid season with a suddenly weird offense. Also, do we know if Navy's new coach is continuing the triple option? Ken N finally got let go.

Comes with being Independent

Pros - Ability to play who we want
Cons - Teams we want to play schedule a bye the week before

Joining a conference would solve the vast majority of this disadvantage but would also create other negatives.

While he doesn't look like your typical big play WR because of his size and seemingly lack of speed. When watching his highlights, it jumps out right away that he makes a lot of big plays due to his ability to make plays on the ball. Something this team did not have much of this season.

Combine that with a QB, like Hartman, who is very accurate deep. And, it likely spells big things for Smith.

Especially back shoulder which Hartman is great at and the fade in end zone we used to always use with Tommy r

Feel like it was Book to Claypool where they used to throw that back shoulder down the sideline at least 2-3 times a game with a ton of success. Wouldn't hate seeing that again

Boykin is who I think of from that era. There was that one Stanford home night game where he could basically get ten yards whenever he wanted.
